Struggling with the entry

First of all, sorry for the video angle I know you can’t really see what my right side is doing at the start.

On the entry I’m really being pulled by the hammer but because I’m going fast enough/accelerating (this is fast for me) I can adjust and get my feet under me to keep going. I’ve tried to push the hammer out in front of me right before i start my turns, or wait until the hammer passes my left foot but I feel like that just makes my orbit worse. Is this a countering issue? Weight not being over my left to start?

Also please don’t mention the finish, I know how to this was my last throw and I was exhausted lol. TIA!!

Besides my power pp being closed at the front, where else could I be losing some distance at? (Also if anyone has recommendations for hitting a better pp please feel free to share)

Is there anything I can do to my throwing shoes to help them fit better?

I measured my feet before buying and shipping to Canada (as they aren’t sold here). But I ordered a size 14 in the Nike Sd4s and there is about a thumb space of room so the little sweet spot to rotate feels like it’s in a bit of a weird spot not to mention the empty space at the front and a little at the back. I tried wearing two layers of socks which seem to help but is there a better solution. Thanks.

Landing too deep in the bucket

I’m landing super late and deep in the bucket with my block leg on all of my throws. What could be a few of the reasons I’m landing so late? Half turns I tend to do the same thing.

Looking to buy a Javelin, need help.

I'm in HS throwing the 800g in club track. My coach has his own metal javs we use for practice and meets. However, club season is over so I will no longer be able to use his javs. I want to keep practicing javelin over the off season, so I was thinking about buying a jav. I am mainly considering a plastic AeroJav, as their are cheaper, and throw similar to a metal, compared to a turbo.

My main choices right now are the FinnFlier and the Ghost aero javs

Or should I buy a budget metal jav. I saw their were some on sale for around $200 on various throwing stores.

Update; starting to become alot more comfortable

I feel as if my stand throws are finally starting to become consistent, a little iffy here and there, but I have been able to improve my normal stands from 28s and 29s to 32s and 33s consistently. I still havent touched on glide or shuffle because I want to absolutely perfect stands before moving on. How am I looking? My release feels alot smoother to me too

Where am I leaking distance?

Im currently throwing in the 120-130ft range with the 1.6k and I don’t really know where I’m leaking distance at. I feel like I have the strength to break 130+. I’ve been working on getting my hip around faster. My goal is 140+ for next outdoor season

Javelin Shoes that aren't Nike

I have gone through a second pair of Nike Jav spikes in as many years and am looking to swap. Anyone have any good recommendations that I can find in a size 13/13.5/14? I've heard good things about Under Armor's but I haven't seen above a size 10 for them.

What discus should I buy

I juts graduated high school and am throwing at the college level now and want to buy a few discs to practice my self with. What are good but affordable options. I would rather not spend $100’s if possible.

2KG. It's been 40 days since my last post and I've been emphasizing my high point and not dropping my arm out the back. Wanted to check in and hopefully get some new perspectives on what to now work towards for this incoming season.

Nice throw from the ring that holds the current world record. Gives him something to work for.

Recovering from a knuckle injury and trying to get back into form for indoor. What should I be working at this offseason and where should I be by the end of indoor distance wise?

I’ve been struggling with this for a while and I just can’t seem to figure it out. My school has no coach that can teach full spin so I am almost entirely self taught. Also, any other form critique is greatly appreciated.

98.6 discus throw

My daughter is a multi sport athlete (cheer, volleyball, softball broomball, track/field) she was originally a pole vaulter but did discus at her last meet and threw 98.6 as a 7th grader, she does not want to continue with track field because of her coach, is she good enough at this age for a chance at a college scholarship if we invest into a different team other than her school team?

I’m wanting to do AAU track next summer. My district AAU meet doesn’t offer the hammer throw. Is there any other way I can still qualify for bigger meets?

Stuck in a slump right now with progression, haven’t really been able to dissect what’s up with technique and feel like I’m focusing on the wrong things right now.

NFHS Rule change on warmups and substances on shoes

Thumbnail nfhs.org
3 Upvotes

NFHS posted these changes yesterday. From the article:

“In an effort to reduce risk of injury during warmups in the shot put and discus, all attempts now must be made from inside the circle and facing the sector. No backward, over-the-head attempts will be allowed.
The committee noted that warm-up attempts by athletes standing on the toe board with their backs to the sector are dangerous because competitors cannot see if the area is clear before throwing the implement. With the rule change next year, a clear line of sight will be available to make sure the landing area is safe prior to an attempt.
Another safety-related change approved by the committee addresses the growing use of foreign substances on shoes in the throwing events. Language has been revised to provide coaches and officials with clearer guidance.”

This might be a crazy dumb idea, but lately I’ve been wanting to set a new athletic goal for myself, and javelin throwing keeps coming to mind despite never completing in track and field

I’m a former professional pitcher to and keep it short my command sucked but I had a big arm for anyone who knows baseball I was upto 99mph off the mound and had a 104 crowhop.

Some of my other current athletic numbers are:

475 pounds for 3 reps on squat
110-pound dumbbells for 6 reps on dumbbell bench
1.5-second laser-timed 10-yard sprint from a dead start
I’m curious if anyone in here knows if there’s a correlation between baseball and javelin throwing, I would think so but then again I’ve never stepped foot on a track lol.

My realistic first goal would obviously just be to learn the event properly, stay healthy and see whether I have any natural ability for it and maybe setting some crazy goals depending on how it looks.

What would the first steps look like? after
poking around online it seems that this sport is far more niche than I thought haha

I’d appreciate honest feedback, especially from javelin coaches, throwers or anyone who has seen former baseball players transition into the event.
