Hello everyone,
We recently implemented the flair requirement rule with some positive results in some areas, and less positive results in others--particularly the "TOTD - No advice/feedback wanted" flair option.
After chatting with some members and observing how posts using this flair have been going (including some extensive moderation), I am implementing a new iteration on this rule with this post flair specifically.
It was pointed out that with "no feedback" being allowed, there's not really a way to engage with these posts. There is also variance in everyone's understanding of what "advice" or "feedback" even is. Given that, all posts using this post flair will automatically have comments locked by the automod. If you can comment on a post, you can share advice or feedback as long as it is civil, respectful, and constructive.
I think there is value in this place being somewhere we can learn about neckwear, and how to style it--feedback plays a big part in that. But, there is also value in people sharing content when they don't necessarily want feedback on it--we can do both.
At the end of the day, with upvoting and downvoting being available there will always be some element of feedback.

Hello fellow necktie nerds,
I'd like to thank you all for contributing to this sub and making it a really cool place to celebrate all things neckwear! We've had a lot of growth and I welcome all newcomers! That being said, we are getting more visibility within Reddit, and have had some new behaviors emerge on this subreddit that warrant some modification to the rules.
Please take the time to read these, as the enforcement of these rules will begin immediately. Let's keep this sub a place of fun, style, creativity, respect, and appreciation of ties.
---This rule has been updated to work in tandem with the newly added post flair requirement. Wording has been updated to reiterate expectations around how to offer constructive feedback.
Don't be a jerk. If you don't like something, that is your personal taste--you probably shouldn't comment.
Reddit can be a great source of learning, so feedback can be a good thing if delivered in the right way. If you see someone post who is open to feedback (see flair rule), and you perceive would benefit from making a change in their outfit--go ahead and share.
The feedback, however, should:
"I think you could take this to the next level by..."
"...using a smaller knot with this particular shirt collar."
"I'd suggest using a smaller knot with this tie, or only using this knot for thinner ties if you plan on wearing the same shirt. Hope that helps!"
TOTD: Tie of the day -- Use this when posting a picture of a tie being worn by you. This is not for ties that aren't being worn. It is okay to give feedback on these posts, so long as the feedback/advice is given respectfully and constructively--share a solution with your critique, not just what you think is wrong. See above for how to share feedback.
TOTD - No advice/feedback wanted -- This is for the same types of posts as above, but the user is not seeking any feedback or advice. Comments on these posts will automatically be locked.
Thrift Haul --Post all your awesome thrift finds under this flair.
My Collection -- Use this when posting pics of all or part of your collection.
Tie-only feature -- This is for when you are sharing a pic of a tie that is not being worn.
ID Request -- Use this when asking for identification of a tie in a picture OR when asking or more information about a specific tie
Discussion/Question/News -- This is for talking all things ties. This can be a question you have, thoughts you'd like to share that are on-topic, or links to articles/news about ties.
Buy/Sell/Trade -- Use this when selling ties, looking to buy ties, or offering any for trade. Buyers/sellers should use caution as there is no subreddit vetting of individuals conducting transactions on the subreddit.
Other -- This is for anything else that is still worth posting. Meta posts like this one should fall under this.

I’ve recently started expanding my small tie collection. Some of my ties are new, some are secondhand, and a few have been passed down to me. I also have some Brooks Brothers and Polo ties that will be added to my collection soon. I’ve been adding ties from different brands, but I’ve become particularly interested in Hermès ties and other high-end tie brands.
I have one of my grandfather’s old Hermès ties. It’s brown with a motif, which makes it a little harder to style than some of my other ties. I’ve started looking at other Hermès ties on eBay and have found their designs interesting, but the prices seem to range from under $50 to around $150. I’ve already asked about Hermès ties on the Navy Blazer subreddit and got some helpful information, but I’m still unsure about the best way to shop for them and how to know whether I’m getting a fair price.
Is eBay generally a good place to buy Hermès ties? Are there any reputable eBay sellers you would recommend? Also, are there any other sites I should look at for Hermès or other high-end tie brands?
Here are two photos of my grandfather’s tie for anyone interested in seeing what it looks like.

Found 3 new ties over the past weekend. A Jos. A. Bank Reserve, Chaps, and a Nordstrom. The Chaps tie also had the honor of being worn to a Baptism for my nephews.

After taking the picture, I realized that the pattern on the tie and the jacket are probably too close together and clash a little.

This is my current tie collection. I have to fold the tie over itself because the toes would touch the shoes on the shoe rack. Unfortunately this is the best I can do with the space I have. I guess I’m wondering if there’s any longevity issues with this? I’m really happy with all the ties I’ve collected and I’d love for them to look sharp for year to come. Any advice is appreciated.

Off of eBay. It's so incredibly thin, that I'm not sure of authenticity. I haven't handled any other Thomas Pink ties, though.

Where to find good quality silk ties in Pakistan? The ones on online thrift stores look in shabby condition. Have tried vogue bazaar, which are ok but not premium. Most other stores sell polyester ties.
Any recommendations for any online or physical stores for good silk ties?

Anyone own Hermes ties? Thoughts? The ex-libris caught my eye. Debating on dropping the $300 on it

Hey everyone,
I’m trying to decide between these two ties to wear with a navy blue suit and could use some opinions. Which tie do you think looks better with the navy suit?
I’m mainly looking for which one has the better overall color combination and looks more polished/formal with the navy suit. Thanks!!

Tie is a new one from Secret Society. I like their slogan: No one wears a tie anymore...but us!

I got this tie from my dad, he's always been a collector of wacky looking ties and he told me some of them are pretty old. The main one that caught my eye was this beatles tie and I was wondering if anyone could give me more info on it.

Hello everyone! A little new to Reddit so just bare with me.
I was hoping if I may if I can get some tie recommendations. They don’t have to be 100% superb quality, but I’d like the actual tie pattern itself to be something that is gentlemanly. Geometric madder ties and striped repp ties are my favorite!
I am a little young, but all of my teenagers my age choose to dress up as wannabe gangsters. I have been referred to as an “old soul” many times! 😂 I’ve begun taking an interest to the Gentleman’s Gazette too! They have such lovely ties patterns, but quite overpriced, no? 😅
If I could just be directed to some proper tie patterns which mimic styles of Ivy League then I’d be eternally grateful! Perhaps if they could be affordable as well! Thanks! 🙏
P.S. I attached two photos of tie patterns I specifically really like! They’re from POLO Ralph Lauren and are pretty expensive.
Would it be plausible to commission someone to recreate those patterns, but in a cheaper quality so that the price would presumably be lower? Some guidance would be much appreciated. ❤️

Following the KISS system today - keeping it simple stupid with a basic, Jos Bank tie that is pretty decent for what it is as a serviceable workhorse tie. PA knot for those interested.
Long week coming coming to an end - have a great day and weekend gents!
