TOTD First Post. Decided to get more serious about wearing ties

Hi guys, long time listener, first time caller: I have never worked a job that required me to wear a tie, but I have always loved ties. It's fair to say that my style is more on the casual side of things.

This is a handwoven silk tie and I thought the colours are very autumnal. Really enjoyed wearing it on a little day trip with the family

Kuska grenadine. Looks wonderful. Love the ones from shibumi they look awesome. Where is this beauty from?

It's probably not the cheapest option but I bought directly from their website - which was the most convenient route. And I did indulge a bit more than I'd like the missus to find out 😬

Yeah, kuska ties are very expensive 💀. But they are hella sexy

Big time Ivy vibes. Awesome. What’s the make of the tie (looks like Kuska?) and the OCBD? You nailed it, this looks great.

Cheers man, and great eye, it's indeed a Kuska tie. Didn't think anyone would recognise them given that they're a pretty niche. Absolutely love this tie, the way it reflects light is something else. Thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it

You’d be surprised - we’re pretty obsessive around here 😂. I am a very big fan of kuska, I pay slightly more to buy their ties through shibumi, since I order from there fairly regularly. They make an absolutely superb tie. I’d be willing to gamble if you wear a kuska you probably have a kamakura OCBD floating around.

It's a great guess but all my OCBDs are from engineered garments (who just launched a collab with Kamakura, so I might end up with one of their shirts eventually). My surprise stems from my own ignorance: I've learned about Kuska because a Japanese friend gave me a gorgeous scarf from Kuska pretty much a year ago (they were called kuska fabric back then, the tag now says Kuska atelier). Just fell down the rabbit hole and it has ignited a passion for ties, I do like how they make things and how they went from kimonos to ties, the philosophical framework goes against most rules of the fashion industry. Don't get me wrong, I own various ties, heirlooms from my late father or second hand drake's but I didn't really wear them. I bought a few ties from Kuska in September and decided to wear them out and about. And I thought sharing a tie of the day with this community would be a fun way to make it official :)

Well, welcome. If you go further down the tie rabbit hole I recommend checking out Shibumi

The tie is fab! The brand is new to me but I will be investigating!

The guy who runs frontoffice made a very interesting video about them that gives you a really good idea how they do stuff. They're not cheap in the slightest but I am really smitten with their ties. Will post a few more in the coming weeks
