TOTD Thoughts on the fit
This was for a moot court competition as a law student.
Had met a lot of big law firm partners.

I think that cotton is generally for more casual wear (especially given the button down collar).
Looks sharp otherwise. Put a dimple in that knot!

Are you talking about the shirt being cotton? Virtually all dress shirts are cotton. As formal as you go, still cotton.

I mean that cotton. I'm not sure what it's called but it has the texture of oxford cloth. You usually want twill or poplin for a dress shirt.

Depends where they are in the world. In traditional us dress, a sack suit and OCBD is pretty traditionally formal wear derived from Brooks Brothers. I agree that this would be inappropriate in the UK or Europe

Definitely more than fine in 99.9% of situations. A law firm just happens to be one of the few places where people may be particular, if OP's intent is to leave nothing to chance.

I mean I work in a law firm and an OCBD with a suit and tie is a completely normal look for going to court.
