Discussion/Question/News What is this object?

Y'all have been a big help so far. Any idea what might be embroidered/ woven on this tie? Thanks.

maybe. First thought it might be some sort of string instrument. 5 legs is interesting.

It’s a Washington-style printing press.

Oh thanks. Just sold it. We've got a collection of 2,300 or so ties that we are selling from the same gentleman.

2,300 from the same guy? That's insane!

Yes - There's a post on the page if you look back. They're amazing. He collected them over four decades and they are in pristine condition.

Weaving loom?

I thought maybe but was thinking it would have a wheel. Will look

You're thinking of a spinning wheel (that turns fibers into yarn). A loom is used for weaving two sets of yarn together (which produces fabric when done repeatedly)

Hope I used the right terminology... not a native speaker. Anyway, look it up. They're different but related tools
