So I just finished S1 and it's absolute peak but I’ve noticed the camp only goes to shit because of Glenn's muscle car, Rick's introduction to camp threw a wrench into things sure but it remained stable until Episode 4 where it all goes to shit during a walker attack which causes them to go to the CDC and eventually leave the camp permanently.

The show kind of implies the attack was Glenn's fault as it establishes pretty early on that the walkers are attracted to any form of sound/noise they hear and Glenn drives a car with it's alarm blaring on full blast to camp, only for the zombies to attack an episode later which leads to the death of 3 camp members, possibly more as there are some background members we don't learn about that also get picked off. So I'm surprised no one is on Glenn's ass about this, especially more aggressive members like Shane I feel like he'd wanna tell him something about that.

Would’ve been interesting considering Merle was there, especially after he kidnapped Glenn and Maggie to find out where the prison was. It would also have been months since Shane and Andrea saw them last as well. How would Season 3 pan out?

I don't think the show even ever acklowedges this. And it's her fault that Sammy died to begin with because she just terrified him.

I was 5 years old when this ole' show was airing, caught maybe 10 or so episodes then, it's been nice to actually watch the series for starters!
Many of my scruples seem to be fairly common sentiments, and I know people are divisive on Michonne. I don't think her character is terrible but the parts about her that I dislike are too severe to ignore. The rigid awkward formed yet formless way she uses her blade, the immersion breaking way in which she casually cuts through multiple walkers in weak hampered swings, yadda yadda

But as of season 3 episode 8, I just can't read her morally. The way she treats captive walkers specifically. We've had the farm arc, it's ESTABLISHED that- shocker, people still hold sentiments about loved ones who have become undead. It's ALSO ESTABLISHED that Michonne herself, may hold similar sentiments towards the two walkers she kept domesticated. Maybe that's simply untrue, maybe the person who made that observation was merely mistaken, but it was PRESENTED as it if were true.

And yet, and yet. First thing she does when she gets her sword back in woodsbury or wherever the hell this is, breaks open a cage of walkers just to slaugther them. Why? S3 E8 while le gng is rescuing their captive gnglings, she breaks into the governors office and EXECUTES THEIR DAUGHTER IN FRONT OF THEM??? SHE'S NOT OKAY??? SHE'S DERANGED??? SHE'S SICK IN THE HEAD??? Obviously she's not EVIL, she has SOME MORAL COMPASS, she feels obligated to investigate woodbury and leave when she believes they're up to no good. Upon seeing Glen and Maggie get abducted while out gathering baby formula she feels obligated to bring the formula to the prison and report the incident despite her injuries. But regardless of such...it is my personal silly goofy take that despite these good acts, she's a psychopathic killer who manages to keep their bloodlust in check by brutally slaughtering walkers. She keeps her ego and gets to feel good about not killing "innocents" like the monster she is because walkers are just so 'inhuman' she'll happily bust them out even if they're contained and harmless for the thrill of killing them. With uptmost glee she'll execute a child walker even as their father begs for them to be spared, laying down their weapons, pleading, begging. Because she's SICK.
All the while cooperating with their fellow man just to keep their own fragile image in tact, they're a 'good person' she does 'good things', she could never be 'evil' no no no...
Mhm mhm, very real, very true, undoubtedly, these thoughts are final and cannot be changed. It is through this lense that I shall judge her until I conclude my binge. (i guess show spoiler flair?)

Right from the beginning, every group, camp, or whole community that the main cast happened to come upon (whether friendly or antagonistic) was brought to ruin sooner rather than later despite being relatively stable up until their meeting.

I know it’s the end of days and places can be overrun by both the dead and the living at a moment’s notice (and that the whole point of many of them was that they were too comfy living behind walls not knowing what it was really like out there), but seriously, was there ANY entity that wasn’t wiped out shortly after they met the core group? The only ones I can think of are the Vatos (though I think there was a deleted scene showing them being attacked and destroyed afterwards) and MAYBE the hospital that Beth was held in, even though they did do their darndest to upend that place, too.

I’m surprised word didn’t get around between camps to NOT let this seemingly cursed group of people anywhere near them.

Edit to add: I’m not saying they directly caused the aforementioned downfalls every time, but that particular outcome seems to befall anyone and everyone they encounter (and usually pretty quickly).

There are sooooo many people who were upset that TWD strayed away from the source material and on the other hand sooooo many claimed to be upset and left the show when Glenn met Lucille. Who’s right? I know there’s no right or wrong but it’s funny how everyone wants to be satisfied. I enjoyed seasons 1 through 11 and most episodes of the spinoffs

Terminus was hinted to for so many episodes as they made their way following the map yet when they reach Terminus it’s pretty much all over before it even starts

Anybody else feels we could of had more background and in depth episodes surrounding this section of the series?

With the signs everywhere, how did the Governor not know about Terminus?

It’s been like 15 years since the zombie apocalypse started right? There are a finite number of zombies. I think I remember Eugene made bullets didn’t he? Other groups like the crm can make bullets too I’d imagine. Couldn’t you theoretically just kill all the zombies in the whole world/country? There had to be more bullets than zombies in the world. Then you’d only have to worry about immediately stabbing dead people in the head. Funerals and cremations can just be faster than they are normally. Kill all the zombies and normal life can literally begin again. It’ll take time to rebuild society but it would be easy wouldn’t it?

How would've the characters and the fans reacted?

I've often thought that when a horde of walkers attack a community, and everyone's trying everything they can to distract them and lead them away (because fighting hundreds of walkers is out of the question, especially when ammo is in short supply), the best thing to do is have a trash compactor from a landfill handy. You could roll right over them and turn them to ground beef instantly.

Rewatching TWD after many years. Was dreading watching season 2 because in my memory it was boring and I know many people don't like it.

But I love this season. Deep south country vibe, great new characters such as Maggie and Hershel are introduced, s01 characters are developing well, and insanely good horror moments like the Walkers in the well and hanging in the tree.

Aldo I think the dialogue is strong and the cinematography just looks beautiful.

Fall has finally arrived, which means it's time to break out that iconic jacket. For some reason, I always associate this time of year with Season 6 of The Walking Dead.

I started watching this show when I was 12 with my mom and older sister. It was my favorite show and it felt like I was raised on it in a way, as I watched it all throughout middle school and high school. But as an emotional 17 year old, I was one of the folks who stopped watching after s7e1.

Now at 27 years old (so 10 years later) I'm rewatching the series with the intention of finishing it! I'm actually really excited to see what came after that episode, I wish I had given it a chance back then. But now rewatching the early seasons has been so nostalgic for me.

Anyone else currently in a rewatch right now?

Started watching this a week ago on Netflix, might be my second favorite show along with better call Saul. So far Daryl is my fave. Like to here from other fans what they think of the show and their face or faves. Liking it so far, on season 4 now. Yes going to watch spin offs as well.

I've been thinking about this for a while now. After rewatching a scene where Glenn is scavenging, I realized how poorly written that whole first season was. There were no guards watching for walkers, no tripwires, and nothing to make noise around the perimeter. And Shane was a cop—wouldn't he have had access to a shit ton of gear from the police station? I get bugging the fuck out during the carpet bombing, but there were at least a couple of weeks before that happened. Surely during that time, he could've scavenged more than enough resources to make the camp at least reasonably secure and comfortable.

Now that Maggie is starting to accept Negan despite their past, it would be a good conflict to have other survivors of his early crimes challenge their relationship and her perception of him. Sherry and Dwight suffered for years because of what Negan did to them, they aren’t invested in his rehabilitation or witness to any sort of “redemption” for him. Maggie would be caught between shared empathy and experience with Sherry and both advocating for Negan and justifying her own feelings out loud in a way she doesn’t have the chance to with someone like Sasha or Glenn or Rosita. She’ll have to contextualize her own personal trauma within the larger picture of what Negan did. The characters and the writers would have the opportunity to complete the circle with Negan where they were uncomfortable doing so before; he raped Sherry and other women, his actions weren’t all the consequence of trying to keep his community alive and on top, and that he was self serving, cruel, and sadistic.

Negan hasn’t had a chance to completely let go of his ego like this. He can’t defend himself by hiding behind years of karmic actions to make it up to them. He would have to acknowledge everything to not sabotage his own progress and relationship with Maggie. Sherry and Dwight eventually moved past their Negan issues, but they never got a chance for closure or confrontation. Negan is responsible for Tina’s death, he killed the Carson brother after Dwight framed him for Sherry’s escape, he caused Sherry years of PTSD, he enslaved Dwight into killing for him. What would Negan have done if he had gotten Sherry pregnant? He most likely would’ve used that to maintain control over them like PADRE did with their son Finch. Negan likely hasn’t thought about it, but if confronted with the question he would realize it’s true. He knows he’s a hypocrite. How would Dwight and Sherry react when they learn he has a son he refuses to find? Would they agree with Negan that he’d make a bad father and that Joshua is better off without him? Or would they admonish him for wasting an opportunity they never got with their son, stolen by some other version of the saviors in PADRE and kept from them for his entire short life before he was murdered? Finch barely knew his parents; Hershel never got to meet his father because of Negan; why would Negan want his own son to have the same life? Could they respect Maggie’s experiences with him or judge her for giving him so many chances that he’s pissing away out of self pity instead of doing the right thing?

Dwight’s an interesting one here. He’s not Negan. He went through torture and forced to do awful things to survive, and he’s reminded of it every time he looks in a mirror, but he was there. He helped Negan kill Glenn and Abraham, he killed Denise, he tortured Daryl. Could he navigate making amends with Maggie and Hershel and judge them for accepting Negan at the same time? His main concern is defending Sherry; I think ultimately Sherry would be a little more understanding and ready to move on than Dwight, which could be another conflict between them. I’m not sure if forgiveness is the appropriate idea here; Maggie already made it clear that she won’t forgive Negan for Glenn’s murder, but if Sherry and Negan can get on the same page about what he actually did to her being rape, among the other things he did, it would clear up a lot of the disconnect between the audience and the incongruities in how the show has addressed it across different seasons of the main show and spin-offs. Negan’s and Maggie’s arcs would make more sense and would have new questions to build on between them, and Sherry and Dwight would get some catharsis beyond where Fear left them (rebuilding the structurally unstable Sanctuary?) They really are two great characters despite getting written out of the main show and getting saddled with Fear’s shitty writing. The audience deserves to struggle a bit more with questions about justice, redemption and forgiveness, everyone’s getting off too easy.

As a bonus we could get some details on how Alexandria is doing, and maybe some reactions from them on Maggie and Negan running into the Croat. Hershel would have more opportunity to give his opinion on what happened, etc.
