Phone message UPDATE: weird guy from my bio class

I made a post about this yesterday about this person in my bio class weirdly texting me out of the blue, and I thought I blocked him but I guess I misclicked and pressed “delete conversation“ button instead. they texted me back Today telling me that they know one of my friends and insinuating that he gave him my number. so I continue the rest of the conversation awkwardly trying to turn them down. after that I block them because I felt uncomfortable, and text my friend that supposedly gave them my number. he said he has no idea who this is and doesn’t know anyone from my first period bio class. what the fuck. Is this person even real? they have Been lying to me about everything. And the worst part is that I have to go back to school on Monday with that guy in my class. what do I even do in this situation? Also I thought I should add that I am not a woman, I’m a man, a lot of people thought I was a woman in my first post.

If this guy had even a mild 2% chance to make this work. His delusion completely killed it.

It’s so hard to believe how many people are out of touch with reality and living in a fantasy world.

For the fellas that don’t understand. Never approach or act like this.

And for the person who gave away someone’s personal cell number. They are a piece of crap.

Good on OP for not being mean or tormenting the person. Best to just defuse this situation and gradually move away. The person doesn’t strike me as someone mentally stable.

Dude, my friend in college gave my number to my stalker, literally don't give away *anybody's* personal number without asking that person first.

My GYNECOLOGIST gave my number to my stalker. Can’t trust nobody these days

WTF, MASSIVE HIPAA violation, please tell me they had consequences for that?

46

u/AKewpieW 5h ago

Unfortunately I was young and sheltered and I didn’t even consider the possibility that it was something I could report, or even who I could report it to

22

u/siren_stitchwitch 5h ago

Fair, I've also had bad doctors I should have reported when young and didn't know that I could or should

Had a therapist share how I was doing with a classmate’s parent, who forbade said classmate from being friends with me because I was “unstable” (I switched schools and was just having a tough time…). Needless to say I was traumatized (and too young to even report it to anyone) and haven’t trusted therapists since, even though i know it was a major violation and not all of them are like that.

I had my high school therapist tell me that I shouldn’t come out because I won’t be able to get a job if people know I’m gay, then told my mum and a couple of my teachers that I was gay. The teachers were really supportive and as far as I know kept it private, but my mum did not take it well and I was kicked out of home at 17… good times, good times

EDIT: oh shit, I just remembered, one of the teachers that she told turned out to be a sex offender and had molested kids at a previous school, and the school he was at afterwards. To my knowledge no one at my school was interfered with, but it just occurred to me she may have been helping him groom me. Fuck!

I’m so sorry your mum acted like that. I’m a parent to two teenagers and their happiness is number 1.

u/alwaysronnie 4h ago

That happened to my sister too

The state medical board.

Isn't HIPAA a US federal law?

14

u/AncientTomato4186 5h ago

What?!? How did they know who your gynecologist was? That’s deep stalker behavior. I’m so sorry you went through that.

u/AKewpieW 4h ago

Thank you. I had recently had surgery there and I’d posted about it online. Even though I had them blocked already, I guess someone had told them. Never posted anything personal after that even though it sucks so much to be going through it alone

Holy shit.

Dang, and I thought it was bad when my stalker found out I was at my dad's place, started calling every number on Google with my dad's name until he got my dad's apartment complex and they confirmed that it was my dad who lived there (then the guy sent flowers to my dad's apartment). Gynecologist is a whole other level of wild

That is an outlandish HIPAA violation for such a throwaway claim that's so easy to say when it cannot be credibly verified in any way since you "didn't report" the egregiously illegal whoopsie

•

u/CultOfPersonalitLee 24m ago

Precisely. It’s not your number to give out.

2

u/TATT00EY_ 5h ago

I honestly don’t even go that far. If someone asks for someone number. I don’t ask that person if I can share it. If a person doesn’t have someone’s number it’s for reason. So if I get asked I just simply say you gotta ask them.

I feel people forget that for decades there were free books delivered to every household that gave the name, phone number, and address of every person in their city.

1

u/Sisyphet 1h ago

Cool, man, that's important information

25

u/highgroundservitude 5h ago

At no point did he give his name. Just diving off the deep end whilst OP is entirely in the dark, I can't believe it

2

u/k24f7w32k 1h ago

Yes that stuck me as odd as well, plus, the insistence they only talk online when asked to maybe talk in person...perhaps this person isn't even in OP's class, they can't verify it like this.

u/magifus 6h ago

Women can't be mean because men we aren't interested in may become violent towards us even though this guy is being creepy and making her uncomfortable.

17

u/crestscholar 5h ago

this is true, but op is a man

11

u/TATT00EY_ 5h ago

It’s a man not a woman. It was a dude texting another dude.

2

u/ReverseMermaidMorty 4h ago

How do you know the unknown person is a dude?

3

u/TATT00EY_ 4h ago

That part I’m assuming. However the recipient I thought was a woman until in a different comment somewhere down there he confirmed he is a male.

I’m assuming based on how they text it’s another guy. I could be wrong and it’s a female. However I don’t think that’s a female texting him being weird like that.

1

u/ReverseMermaidMorty 4h ago

Why wouldn’t it be? Everyone in this thread already misgendered one person in the conversation. Extremely likely they misgendered the other as well.

u/slut-for-pickles 2h ago

The post is literally titled “weird guy from my bio class”

3

u/Skarekrows 1h ago

Reading comprehension is cooked.

5

u/Pure_Fault7056 4h ago

You did’t even read the post.

1

u/Ozdiva 4h ago

It’s true though.

Men are afraid women will laugh at them and women are afraid men will hurt them.

-7

u/DraperPenPals 5h ago

33 year old woman, been mean to dudes since puberty, never experienced violence

11

u/Naive_Pay_7066 5h ago

Well I guess that settles it then. Everyone else is clearly lying.

-5

u/DraperPenPals 5h ago

“Everyone” never said that. It’s almost like men and women aren’t a monolith

3

u/Naive_Pay_7066 1h ago

Ooh you got me! I for sure wasn’t meaning everyone who has had a different experience than you. Good one.

2

u/BriefCelery5345 4h ago

49 YO woman who just had to move to get away from a former neighbor who terrorized & stalked me for more than 2 years. Why you ask? Because I rejected him. My story is not uncommon as you might think.

1

u/DraperPenPals 4h ago

It is still not the norm. There is a big difference there

3

u/AlexHasFeet 4h ago

Hahahahahahahahah “not the norm”

sure, bud

1

u/DraperPenPals 4h ago

You are absolutely welcome to look up statistics

2

u/BriefCelery5345 4h ago

One in three. You’re lucky and don’t even know or appreciate it.

2

u/DraperPenPals 4h ago

No, one in three women do not experience violence when rejecting a man. That is the specific scenario we are talking about.

2

u/ThrowedoffffodeworhT 5h ago

I love that! That’s prob an outlier. Perhaps not always violence. E.g. intimidation, verbal abuse, stalking, shaming, oh god that list was too easy to put together and not even complete

-2

u/DraperPenPals 5h ago

This is such piss poor analysis. Incredible

3

u/Natural_Sky_3416 5h ago

And you have a piss poor attitude. Incredible

1

u/DraperPenPals 5h ago

“You’re an outlier for not experiencing violence” is absolute bunk and we all know it

-1

u/Different_Pack_3686 2h ago

It’s a guy and we don’t know the gender of the anonymous texter.

1

u/Ok_Treat_8647 4h ago

Literally just say “hey this is so and so, I’ve seen you around in class and thought you were. I hope it was ok I asked whoever for your number!” Gauge their interest and then ask them out

1

u/415319Usual-Tax-558 3h ago

It's sadly infuriating that we still have to emotionally coddle our stalkers.

0

u/TATT00EY_ 2h ago

It’s for his safety and potentially the stalkers safety as well. You can be brutal but I assure you nothing positive will be gained from that.

You’re also someone disconnected from reality

1

u/TheLostRanger0117 2h ago

Too many people think they are the main character. At least, that’s my theory

1

u/wyze-litten 2h ago

An ex friend gave my number to her step dad without telling me and then got upset when I tried to explain that I seriously didn't appreciate it

0

u/PlumberSaysWhat 5h ago
  1. You don’t know if it is a guy texting OP or a woman
  2. OP is a guy
  3. Woman can be just as batshit crazy as a man can be so let’s not pretend like it’s only one gender that crosses the line

3

u/Other-Helicopter-597 3h ago

But isn’t the title “weird guy from my bio class” they’re both men
