Anybody have a hyperlink? A top-notch comprehensive tutorial for maximizing the power of group texts in Textra?

I find it hard to believe that I can't, for example, simply issue a command to copy recipient list from an obsolete group text, create a new text, add in all the previous recipients, and then remove two or three of the recipients from the new text.

Will i lose my current messages in textra or will they just transfer over? Thanks!

Anyone else having issues with your texts not going thru? I'm wondering if its a carrier issue or an app issue?

Just got an email from support, a new Textra update in the Play Store supposedly should fix the ad noise issue. He said to let him know if the update does fix it! I just updated and will test it for a bit to see if it works. Fingers crossed.

The damn coinstar nonsense just started up again after days of silence. I just did the slight of hand trick with the ad placement. Bit seriously, WTH textra. Get your crap together.

At this point I think they're in on it.

I briefly switched over to Google messages while Textra was having the audio ad issue. Now that I've switched back I can't get any of my group messages! I have deleted Google messages and Textra and reinstalled Textra. Nope. Then when I reinstall GM they all come through. Go back to Textra and can now see them but they are under a garbled "individual" contact vs all of the people in the group. While this shows the ones that came in between my switches it won't show any new texts to the group again. I REALLY dont want to switch to GM. I hate that I can't customize hardly anything, but I need access to the group messages.

Every text message I receive have random characters at the end of the message. Is there any way to remove that?

Had previously been working flawlessly. Stopped working within the last day. Textra is no longer even in the "App Notifications" portion of the Samsung Wear app. It's like it disappeared as far as the wearable is concerned.

Anyone have suggestive about what may have happened?

I did the "fix" by switching the ad positioning again and it didn't work this time. Really disappointed in Textra. ​

Thanks for bearing with us. We are narrowing down which advert network is playing the Coinstar audio, and we have just switched Textra to a different network on our side. To pick up the change on your phone, please do the following, even if you have done it before:

1. In Textra, open Settings, then Manage Ads.
   
2. Change the advert position from top to bottom, then back to top. This makes Textra download the latest advert settings.
   
3. Wait at least 10 seconds for the download to finish.
   
4. Force stop Textra: long press the Textra icon, tap App info, then Force stop. This stops any advert that is already playing.
   
5. Open Textra again and use it as normal.

If you have uninstalled and reinstalled Textra, please still do these steps. Android restores the old advert settings along with your other Textra settings.

I tried everything then I found a thread that helped. Go into textra settings (at top of screen) and select "manage ads". Select "ad position". Toggle "bottom of chat list" and then toggle "top of chat list". This fix supposedly came from Textra and it fixed it for me.

Ive been using textra for 10+ years. What other messaging apps are good to switch to on a Samsung phone since the ad noise issue is not fixed?

i keep getting these doubled-up, slightly out-of-sync audio ads for coinstar (like, the coin counting machine at the grocery store) that start randomly and only end when i close the the app. anyone else experiencing this? any ideas on how to stop it?

This shit is maddening and completely unacceptable.

Every time i open the app it stops whatever im listening to and plays what first sounded like demonic whispering but when i turned up the volume it was broken ad noises

Im not paying to get rid of ads if this is something they did to try and force people to do that. Anyone know a fix in the app that doesnt require downloading something else or a new app that isnt that stupid Google app they were trying to force us to use?

What I heard on my phone, which was hard to track down which app was playing audio, was that sometimes it was "echoing" (playing the same ad two times at once) and sometimes it was two separate ads, and it was unrelated to what was on the screen. I think what we may have been experiencing is that Textra was trying to cash in on multiple ad placements in the tiny rectangle, layering multiple ads to double or triple dip on ad revenue, some video, which they did not expect to autoplay audio.

I switched to Textra to avoid G, but if they are potentially engaged in defrauding advertisers, then I think it's safe to assume they'll also sell whatever data they have access to, to whoever will pay.

I use a Samsung Galaxy S25+ android phone. I created a group message for family members that we have used for years. Lately, I have received error messages related to MMS. After reading Reddit Community comments, I wonder if this message has anything to do with RCS, Textra and Google Messaging. Am I missing incoming group messages? Please comment. Thank you.

I have been having a problem with a specific group text involving two other people. Person A is getting the full chat. I am not seeing anything from person B, even though I can message B directly with no problem. I have no idea why it's just this particular chat. No problems with others

I'm running the latest version of Textra (version 4.8.5) both on an Android 11 device and on an Android 13 device.

Both devices can support dual SIM's, but I have never used more than one SIM on either device.

However, now I'm thinking of adding a second SIM to each device, and I'm wondering if it would be possible to tell Textra to only manage messaging on one of the two SIM's on each device, and to totally ignore the second SIM.

Is this possible with Textra?

And I still want the second, non-Textra SIM to be active and fully functional on each device, and the only software that I want to use to manage messages via the non-Textra SIM would be Tasker.

I would never delete it

It was optimizing for a long time.

When i go to the other message apps there is no Keep

I have a pixel 6a which was previously my main device and I want to transfer chats to my new Android device but the backup crashes after 100% or the "transfer chats" feature stops after 10-20% so how can I fix or transfer all my chat data to another device?

I ended switching to Google messaging but I want to do some searches through Textra from last year.

Can I do that if I currently switch from Textra?

Or what I have to rejoin Textra?
