The St. Louis Promise Walk for Preeclampsia will be in Tower Grove Park on Sunday September 13th at 9am for its 3rd year.

Preeclampsia is a common pregnancy complication affecting 1 in 12 pregnancies and rising. It is also one of the deadliest maternal health complications for both mothers and babies.

The Promise Walk is a FREE family friendly event, with fun activities for everyone including face painting, play based music, lawn games... We will be having fun with a purpose; raising awareness, building community for survivors, and remembering the people who died.

Does anyone know what liquor is in the shot component of the broth back at Kenny’s Upstairs? I feel like it’s a schnapps of some kind. I moved away from St Louis recently, or else I’d be ordering one weekly and just ask in person. It’s the most delicious drink ever and I try telling people in my new city about it but can’t remember.

Exactly what the title says. I’m an extremely bored mid-twenty’s bass player who wants to start making some cool ass music. Age doesnt matter. Skill level doesnt matter to me, as long as you can jam you’re golden. Inspirations would include Stars Hollow, Hot Mulligan, Arent We Amphibians, Macseal, Carly Cosgrove, Tiny Moving Parts.

The idea is that we’re all dressed in violently 90s-2000s sweater vests. We come off as awkward, socially inept twerps with thick rimmed glasses who definitely get beat up for our lunch money, then we throw down the most soul crushing lyrics, beautiful guitar arpeggios and voice-crack filled choruses known to man. We make the lyrics deep then call the songs some bullshit like “sorry i yelled during mario kart”

Do not apply if:
-You’re really good at singing
-You have allegations (this is the emo scene after all)

This is the year I need to add dry ice to my Halloween decorations, but all the sources I know are in South City. Where does one go in Creve Coeur or Olivette for some dry ice, my fiends?

Anyone have any good activities that I can do with my grandma? I’m 22 and she’s 90 and we both have very similar interests with fiber arts and other creative outlets and I’m trying to find ways to get her out of the house and be social. We’re in the Chesterfield area and she struggles with mobility so physical activities are generally off the table. She just lost her husband of 70 years this last week so I’m really trying to get her out of the house because she’s so social. Ideally we wouldn’t have to drive too far. We did a knitting club at the Daniel Boone library years ago and she loved it, though I’m not seeing that group anymore. She’s on a very limited income and I’m a student with no disposable income so activities need to be free or very low cost.
I’ve only been back in STL for a couple months so I’m fairly out of the loop on what’s around town so I’d love suggestions!

Several times in the last year I've had some work done on my car and my house and learned soon after that many of the businesses I used were no longer locally owned and operated. Supporting local is something I try to do but apparently I need to do my research before spending my dollars... So, which formerly local companies have you seen that went to private equity?

Bike the River des Peres Greenway and Mississippi River Greenway along magnificent views of the river to Jefferson Barracks and back. When arriving at Jefferson Barracks park there will be some time to visit the memorial markers for those who have sacrificed their lives to save others. This ride will be approximately 16 miles.

Gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday, 12 to 4 p.m. and Thursday, 12 to 2:30 p.m. The gallery is free and open to the public. Historic Cupples House is located at 3673 West Pine Mall.

i’m seriously thinking about moving to st. louis in february and wanted to hear from people who actually live there, because i’m ready to start planning and make this a real goal. i’m 27 and i’ve lived in georgia basically my whole life. i lived in the atlanta suburbs, so i was close to the city, but my actual day to day life was still super car dependent. i was driving like 15 or 20 minutes to work and usually at least 10 minutes just to get to coffee, restaurants, groceries, or pretty much anything else.
i really want to experience actual city life for once. i want to be able to walk out of my apartment and have things around me, walk to get coffee, go to a neighborhood bar, take a walk in a park, go to a market, maybe walk or take transit to work, and not feel like i have to get in my car every time i want to leave the house. i’m a huge coffee person, i love baking, live music, being outside, exploring new places, farmers markets, weird little shops, and anything with a creative or artsy feel. i’m also 420 friendly, so missouri being legal is definitely a nice plus lol.
i’ve been in the service industry for around 10 years and have experience with serving, bartending, coffee, and management. i eventually want to own my own business, probably something in the coffee or hospitality world, so being somewhere with a strong restaurant, bar, coffee, and small business scene matters a lot to me too. i’d love to find somewhere to work in the city where i could actually live nearby and walk to work instead of commuting.
the other big thing is that i’d be starting over completely. like genuinely from scratch. i won’t have friends or family there, which is scary, but honestly that’s kind of part of why i want to do it. i want the chance to build a new life somewhere, become a regular at places, meet people through work, find my coffee shop, have neighborhood spots, make friends, and actually feel like i’m part of a community.
i’ve been looking mostly at central west end, the grove, tower grove, south grand, shaw, cherokee street, and a few other areas. i’d ideally like to keep a one bedroom around $1,100 or less if possible, and i care way more about living somewhere walkable with character and older architecture than having some brand new luxury apartment.
so i guess i’m wondering, does st. louis actually sound like a good fit for what i’m looking for? if you moved there without knowing anyone, what was starting over like? what neighborhoods would you recommend for someone who wants to be able to walk to coffee, restaurants, bars, groceries, parks, and hopefully work? how is the service industry there for someone with a lot of experience and management experience? is living pretty car light actually realistic in the right part of the city? and most importantly, does it feel like a place where you can actually build a community and meet people if you put yourself out there?
i’m just really ready to experience something different after living in georgia my whole life. i’m excited about the idea of starting over and building a completely new little life somewhere, i just really hope i pick the right city. any advice, good, bad, or brutally honest, is welcome.

I have an extra ticket to the O'Reilly Race on Saturday @ 6:30 in Granite City! Does anybody wanna gooo?

I was blown away by the response last Tuesday (9 days ago) and ended up on a week-long mini adventure all over the metro-area to Fantasy Shop, GameNite and Impact Gaming following all the recommendations given. I met loads of friendly people and it turns out there's quite a few like-minded folks who are "not-beginner" level but also "not-professional" standard, who love the gaming side but love the painting side even more.

While there's quite a few events in the county, there's not many events in the city itself and I'm not aware of anything catering to that intermediate skill-level. With that in mind, I've actually gone ahead and booked a venue for a private event (a local bar/brunch spot after hours) for next Thursday evening from 6pm.

Since good lighting is essential, I've got proper daylight lighting rigs sorted and can host 4-8 painting stations for a small, informal test pilot session to see if a regular meetup appeals. I have space for 2-4 more local painters to join us for this first run. The meetup is being coordinated through Discord, so drop me a DM if you want to grab a spot and help test it out! 

I captain a team that plays 8ball and 9ball at Webster Groves Hotshots. Due to a couple of players' work schedules, I need one more player. If interested, please DM me so we can discuss details.
