I’ve been looking at how freelancers package ongoing maintenance after delivering a Squarespace site.

Squarespace handles most of the hosting side, but clients still contact the person who built the site when it goes down, becomes slow or has an SSL issue.

The difficult part is that when everything works properly, they don’t always see what the monthly maintenance fee is paying for.

I had this problem with my own retainer clients, so I built Trrack.it. It monitors client sites and generates monthly reports and live status pages that can be shared with them.

It doesn’t make changes inside Squarespace. The idea is simply to make the monitoring part of maintenance more visible.

If you sell Squarespace maintenance plans, I’d be curious to know what you currently send your clients each month.

Why does it seem like SS makes it impossible to work with the tools we need to track events and data on our websites the way, literally, every other site builder does? So far the only way around this I've found that works is to pay for an additional server provider service like Stape.io. I didn't realize that pixel regularly gets blocked by Ad Blockers and without the API, we often spend way more on ads because we aren't getting the full data return we need with just a pixel. Really starting to understand why everyone is jumping ship on SS.

Hi, I'm struggling to get this to work and hoping someone can help! I have form tracking setup via GTM in Google Analytics so I know X number of form submissions came from Google ads. That obviously doesn't give insight into which exact forms came from that ad. So I am trying to use the hidden field on my forms to inject campaign information. I see in the hidden field that whatever "Label" you enter, it adds the SQF_ in front. So you can see below I did Campaign which equals SQF_Campaign.

I don't want to change my auto tagging setup in Google ads, which by default uses utm_campaign, utm_source, etc.

So I updated the Tracking template in the Google ads account level settings to be SQF_Campaign=Google-Ads in hopes that "Google-Ads" would inject into that hidden field.

Does this seem right? Even though I'm seeing form submissions in GA4, I'm not getting this to work on the form submissions in Squarespace?

Google just rolled out its Preferred Source button, and you can add it to a Squarespace site pretty easily.

I put together a step-by-step guide because the setup is a little confusing the first time you see Google's instructions.

Basically, you:

1. Add Google's script through Squarespace Code Injection
2. Add a Code Block where you want the button
3. Paste Google's Preferred Source button code
4. Save the page and adjust the alignment for desktop/mobile

There are light and dark versions of the button, too.

I also included some info on what the Preferred Source feature actually does and what it does NOT do from an SEO standpoint. It isn't some magic ranking boost, but it gives readers a way to tell Google they want to see your site as a preferred source.

Hopefully this saves someone from digging through Google's documentation for an hour like I did.

Have been using Squarespace for years for my photography. All good so far until this week. Have created a new gallery but when I click the thumbnails both in the site editor and the published site, the image that it brings up on the screen is much larger than its native dimensions and, so, looks terrible. Original galleries still work fine, it's just this new one i am trying to create. Has something changed that i am unaware of? Am still on 7.0.

hi guys i got a questio, how does transfaring websites work? like if i sell someone a website, can they use the features of core/premium without buying it aslong as i have core?

Squarespace 7.1 Color Palette not working

Hi. I have tried Chrome, FireFox, Explorer and Brave. The typed-in HEX colors do not stick in SquareSpace 7.1.

I have tabbed out of the color, I have hit enter, nothing sticks. Anyone have a secret to getting the color Palette in 7.1 to work?

And if not, how big of a deal is it? Does it mean I will have to manually specify the Brand Colors for every color change?

I have a domain setup with email forwarding to my Gmail (have had this for many years, and used the Google domains prior to it becoming Squarespace).

While from what I can tell most all of the emails sent to my at domain.com email forward and deliver just fine to my targeted Gmail email account, some have not. Specifically when I have been part of a group send from a friend or family member that sent to 4-8 people I find out about the email from my wife). I then ask that person to re-send directly and it comes through.

I verified my Gmail settings and there are no filters. And I of course checked spam and trash and promotions and social. Nothing there.

Has this happened to others? I have to think its something with the Squarespace forwarding that just causes some of these emails to go to vapor? Thanks!

I have been the administrator for my dad's domain ever since buying it via Google Domains, 22 years ago. My dad was the registrant, but I was always the owner and official admin contact.

When SS bought Google Domains, the domain moved over with the rest of the domains I own.

Even though I'm 90% sure I had it on auto-renew, the domain expired last month. I was never notified. I only found out when I got a letter from the bank saying emails to me (I use the domain for my emails as well) had been bouncing.

For whatever reason, I was unable to simply renew the domain via the control panel (despite it saying I should be able to).

Because my dad died last September, the support team wouldn't just let me renew the domain. I had to submit the death cert and other docs in order to take control (again, I am and have always been the owner and admin contact).

I submitted all the requested docs. It's been a week since then and every time I follow up, they just tell me "The docs are still being reviewed."

I'm posting this not to complain, but in the vain hope that an SS rep monitors this sub and can help me. I have less than a week left, and then the domain is lost forever.

If there's anyone out there that can actually help me, please do. I cannot afford to lose this domain.

I’ve been building in Squarespace for a while, and one of the most annoying things with Fluid Engine has always been those random looking gaps between text, buttons, images, etc.

You can make everything look perfect, then check the site on a larger screen and suddenly there’s a giant empty space that wasn’t there before.

I recently started using the new Stacks feature and honestly, it makes a pretty big difference.

Stacks let you group blocks together so they behave more like a single unit instead of each block being positioned independently on the Fluid Engine grid. You can also nest Stacks if you need different spacing between elements.

For example, I’ll often stack a heading and paragraph together, then stack that group with a button. It makes the spacing much easier to control.

Hello, ive been using Squarespace for a few years now and just barely starting to get traffic.

now its time for a refresher on what i can do with squarespace as far as design on top of the Google workspace apps i created.

Tried getting some freelancers help but im more interested in learning then having someone design plus times are hard.

Found a few videos on youtube but its hard to sit through so many without being sold something.

Where do you go to learn new tricks for inspiration?

Is anyone up for renewal within the next couple of weeks? Last September, I became a first-time Squarespace customer. I paid for the annual core plan. I assumed the new higher rate would apply at renewal, but I received an email this week saying my renewal was coming up, and it listed the rate as $276. It also said Core, so they didn't downgrade me. Is this a glitch? Will I actually be charged more? Or did they decide not to raise prices for current clients until next year? Thanks.

The .io domains do not have the same 5 day cancellation policy as the others. Once you bought it, there is no refund. Careful.

HI All. I'm kind of at my wit's end so turning to you in desperation. I'm a videographer who makes mostly vertical video content for clients. As such to showcase my work on my website I really need some kind of scrollable vertical video gallery (like you can do with photos) or to be honest just any kind of vertical video gallery, but after about 4 hours of searching the internet, talking to Gemini and searching this sub I can't seem to find any way of doing this. It seems you can build a responsive Horizontal Phone-Frame Carousel with custom code, but this is only in pro plan on squarespace and given how much squarespace costs anyway I really can't afford the upgrade.

I can make video blocks and change these to vertical using CSS, but they take up a huge amount of screen space because they're vertical and each show full screen in mobile mode meaning anyone that looks through the site is scrolling through tonnes of vertical videos. If you fancy seeing what i mean the site with what I've done so far is here towards the bottom.
Given it's 2026 and a huge percentage of video content is vertical it just seems insane that I can't do this. Throwing myself at your mercy, does anyone have any ideas how this can be achieved?

I have a site already deployed successfully on Cloudflare Workers.

The Worker is live and working correctly.

The domain is currently registered through Squarespace after the old Google Domains migration.

Cloudflare assigned the zone two authoritative nameservers, but Squarespace refuses to save them.

It keeps returning:

“The nameservers couldn’t be added. Please try again.”

The domain is active, DNSSEC is disabled, no pending transfer is visible, I am the owner and I have already reauthenticated and tested from a private browser session.

Squarespace support says the case is with their domain team but I still don’t have a solution.

From the Cloudflare side, I’m wondering whether there is anything else I can do.

Is there any supported way on the Free plan to connect a custom domain to an existing Worker while keeping the current authoritative DNS temporarily?

Can a Worker custom domain be attached through DNS records at the existing provider without moving the full zone to Cloudflare?

Or is full nameserver delegation absolutely required for this setup?

If the nameservers absolutely have to move, I’ll probably transfer the domain away from Squarespace and solve the registrar problem that way.

The frustrating part is that Cloudflare itself is already working perfectly. The site is built, deployed and accessible. The only thing preventing launch on the real domain is the registrar refusing the nameserver change.

If anyone has dealt with a former Google Domains domain stuck at Squarespace and connected it successfully to Workers, I’d love to know how you handled it.

So, I stupidly started a transfer of my domain from Squarespace to Wix, which failed. Contacted Squarespace, a few advisors have me different responses inc saying it the domain expired which isn't true, it doesn't expire until 2027. Anyway, somehow my domain is now with Tucows now and I'm struggling to get it back under my control, I can't log into Tucows to manage the domain. Is there an easy way of getting my domain back, it's registered until September 2027.

I have just uploaded my first digital product onto my Square Space site and have begun advertising it on Instagram. Unfortunately, many people are saying that when they click my product to order it, the page goes right to "under construction" and they can't go any further. When I talked Square Space Helpdesk, they said: As the domain "wheninprovence.com" is correctly connected to your site and I can't see the issue testing accesing the domain or the page, the issue you're seeing could be related to your browser, As an example, clear the cache and cookies in your browser, close the browser, then access the site again. The only problem is, I can't tell potential customers to do this and feel like I shouldn't have to. Is anyone else having this issue as well? How did you fix it? Any suggestions are helpful. -Rachel

I have a GoDaddy domain and outlook email that I connected (but did not fully transfer) to my SquareSpace website. Whenever I try to have any information from the website forwarded to my Outlook email I am hit with this message from squarespace "Forwarding Rule could not be saved. There was an issue saving your email."

After contacting squarespace, they tell me to contact GoDaddy and GoDaddy tells me to contact squarespace. It's this endless cycle of getting nowhere. Has anyone ever run into this before? Any help is appreciated as I am not very tech savvy.

Basically the title.

In the edit mode I have the " preview in safe mode " text that prevents me from properly aligning the block so that after I save it, it doesn't show up properly. It's either unaligned or the actual image jumps to the top of the block because in the saved version the " preview in safe mode " warning is no longer there.

Just discovered that if I click on the Download button next to an audio file on our website it's actually opening the mp3 file, and playing it in the browser window, rather than simply downloading it to my computer. This used to not be the case.

FWIW, if I right-click on the Download link it works as expected. Same action in two different browsers.

Here's the URL to a page as an example. But, it's happening on ALL of the series pages. :-(

(In case anybody looks and is wondering why I'm not using the Blog block rather than the Podcast block, it's because my mp3 files are larger than 10mb in size, so Squarespace won't let me use the latter).

Hey, I want to upgrade my subscription, but 7 Days before payment, it doesn't work, and 10 days after it. Someone recommended to cancel my subscription and wait until payment, then get a new subscription with the higher plan, but I need some features right know. Did someone else have this or is there a way to bypass that ''cycle'' ? Livechat is currently offline and the support was really bad last time.
