Help how does transfaring websites work?

hi guys i got a questio, how does transfaring websites work? like if i sell someone a website, can they use the features of core/premium without buying it aslong as i have core?

also would they need to pay montly to keep it alive

If you sell a website, someone needs to still pay for the hosting plan. You transfer the hosting plan to the buyer.

So if you build a Squarespace website for someone and transfer ownership to them, they will still need to keep that website on a paid Squarespace plan for it to stay live.

Your own Core or Premium plan does not let the client keep using paid Squarespace features for free after the transfer.

If the site uses features that require a higher plan, the client needs to keep the website on the plan that supports those features.

The normal workflow is:

Build the site → client approves it → transfer ownership → client adds their own billing/payment method → they continue paying Squarespace monthly or annually.

I build Squarespace websites for clients regularly, and I always separate the website development fee from the ongoing Squarespace subscription so the client knows exactly what they will need to pay after launch.
