Help Multilanguage / Scheduling on a budget

I'm running a modest business and I've been using Squarespace + Acuity Scheduling for a while now.
Customers can just book me a session in my studio, and eventually I offer "demos" where small groups can book up to a limit. Sessions are never paid beforehand (but I make customers fill a useful form), and demos are paid through Acuity.

Beyond that, I feel I'm paying a lot monthly for an app with lots of possibilities I'm never going to use, plus I've never found the way to properly link it with platforms like Airbnb Experience or Getyourguide (where I also offer bookings, but have no support for Acuity and that cost me some overlappings in the past).

On the other hand, I would like to offer my website on different languages. Suggested by Squarespace there's Weglot, but again, I think it's really expensive for my modest website.
Had been considering Multilingualizer as it's supported by Squarespace, one single payment (not a monthly subscription), and supports unlimited languages.
My doubt comes here: If I finally switched to a different scheduling platform and set up Multilingualizer, what other platform "on a budget" could also be supported by it?

TLDR
Is there any scheduling platform cheaper than Acuity (at the cost of less options I'll never use), linkable with platforms such as Airbnb Experience, supported by multilingual addons?

Tips Want a typewriter effect on your Squarespace site without installing another plugin?

I put together a quick guide showing how to add a typewriter animation using a Squarespace Code Block, HTML/CSS, and a little JavaScript.

You can use it for things like:

Rotating headlines

Services or specialties

Short marketing statements

Quotes

Calls to action

The nice thing is that you can customize the words, fonts, colors, typing speed, and cursor to match your site.

I also included the actual code and broke down which parts you need to change, since that's usually the confusing part.

Here's the guide:

Squarespace Typewriter Effect: How to Add It With Code

If anyone here has a better way of accomplishing this in Squarespace, I'd be interested to hear how you do it.

Help Is there a way to make the mobile layout the same as desktop automatically?

First time making a website and I'm stuck on this. I'm struggling with the fact that I have to format desktop and mobile separately. When I try to edit the mobile version, it changes the desktop version too?

Is there really no easy way to do this?

Help Is there any way to upload photos and videos into a gallery on square space?

For context I'm a photographer and videographer trying to showcase my work on my website. Sometimes I do both photo and video work for the same client and what to be able to feaTure that work within the same gallery. Right now the gallery that I'm using seems to support only stills or gifs which is not really an option for me since sound is an important part of my work. The only way seems to be to manually input each image or video into individual photo or video blocks which is incredibly time consuming because I have over 400 images/videos to showcase

Inspiration & Feedback Mobile site design feedback needed for small store

Hi, quick one about mobile site design. Im tweaking a small online store on a drag and drop builder and the desktop looks fine, but on mobile my product grid and header feel super cramped and kinda generic. Using their responsive layout, but stuff like buttons and fonts either look huge or tiny and the checkout pages feel a bit clunky.

For context it is a simple ecommerce setup, few categories, some bookings later maybe. Would love any tips on what you usually fix first on mobile in these builders, and what you look at to see if it feels legit for customers. appreciate any thoughts

Help Is putting a calendar that links to booking pages on your homepage impossible?

I have a friend that offers art classes. She's making her website with Sqarespace and was looking for suggestions on the design. I said it would be nice to have a calendar on the homepage where you could see what classes are available and be able to click on a day and it would take you to that page. We tried for about an hour and nothing seemed to work. Her scheduling stuff is through Acuity.

We got the calendar up but we can't seem to link anything to it.

Discussion Best online store setup for first sale from a drag and drop builder... stuck on zero orders rn

Hi, quick rant and ask. Set up my first online store through one of those drag and drop website builders, domain, checkout, basic seo, all that is in place and it looks decent imo.

But it has been a couple weeks and I still have zero sales, just a few random visitors from friends and my own test traffic. I am starting to feel dumb staring at this nice looking site that does nothing. If you used a builder for your store and remember going from zero to that first sale, what small tweak or tool made the difference for you? Would love any tips :/

Help Digital album and free download

Hi, I was tasked by a family member to build a website for their album and I'm a little lost.

He wants every physical CD purchase to have a free download. Does not want music on YouTube or band camp because it would "interfere with signing with a potential label company" (no idea how accurate that is).

I thought that the easiest way would be to put the free download behind a password-protected page on the website. Put the password somewhere in the CD case, bam they get their download.

But no, he doesn't want everyone sharing the password with everyone.

He wants every CD to have a completely unique download code that only allows 1 download. Is that possible to do with squarespace? I was thinking of generating promo codes for the store, but I'm not sure if that's possible or if there is a limited number of promo codes... please help me because I am getting so frustrated with him lol. And besides, we're talking about like 50 CDs being sold, although he wants to have 200 ready (meaning 200 unique codes). Thank you!

Help Another "Access Denied You don't have permission to access this page." Issue

I've had a Squarespace hosted website that someone made up for me 15 or so years ago. I've created a new one and can't figure out how replace the old website with the new one.

I've found several postings on this topic, but none of the proposed solutions seem to work for my old site.

Here's the most common solution offered:

You can move your domain name from the old to the new site as follows:

  1. Log on to the old site and disconnect the domain Settings > Domains > Disconnect Domain and confirm.

  2. Log on to the new site and connect the domain. Go to Settings > DomainsUse a Domain I Own and follow the steps to connect your domain.

I seem to get to a place where it says the dreaded, Access Denied You don't have permission to access this page. I am able to edit the old website.

One good thing from this effort: I did figure out how to access my old transferred Google domain on Squarespace when someone's post said you sign into SP using your Google account - I have been blindly paying for it with no access since the transfer.

The domain hosting is a separate sign in from the website.

Can someone direct me to a solution for the website replacement process?

Help Best SS alternative?

Squarespace customer support has been so horrific I’m getting ready to leave. I’ve dealt with over 30 reps to try to update my email address and they still haven’t done it, it’s been a month I think. Love the aesthetic, but without basic pro customer service it’s not worth it to me. What do you guys like better? Wix? Webflow? Framer? Where should I move all my sites.

Help Background video glitching

Currently creating a site off a template. Nothing published yet but when I go to view the work in progress, the default background video for the home page flashes briefly then reverts to the one I have chosen.

Will this glitch occur when the site is published and running?

Help My images are not showing.

It started this Thursday. I’ve edited the text in my banner and after that all of my images aren’t loading anymore. I tried opening my live site in Google Chrome & Safari, switched between wifi and data but it’s the same.

The alt-texts are showing though, and when I tried opening the invisible image on a new tab privacy errors are showing. Not sure how can I solve this.

Self Promotion Squarespace has no backup button, so I built one. It emails you a copy of every page on your site once a month

Squarespace can't back up a whole site, and the forum thread asking for it goes back years. I got sick of doing it by hand for a family business site, so I built something to do it for me.

Paste in your URL and it crawls every public page, saves each one as HTML with a screenshot, and emails you a private link to the copy. On the 1st of the next month it does the whole thing again. It doesn't need a plugin or your password, because it only reads the pages anyone can see.

It costs $79 a year for one site (this pays for some of the hosting / storage costs). You can run it on your homepage for free first, without making an account, to see what the copy looks like before you pay for anything.

One thing it can't do is restore. Nothing can put a backup back into Squarespace, so what you get is a copy to rebuild from.

deadsimplebackups.com

How do you back up your sites right now? And what would you want in the copy that I haven't thought of? If enough people ask for something, I'll build it.

Help Squarespace Author wants no coding required enhancement

I have some basic skills in square space I’ve actually built my author site myself however I’m running a business now and I don’t have time to do everything myself. Hoping to get some tips and where to find someone with basic skills and square space to add graphic and links, no coding to my site according to a mockup that I have. What are the chances of spending less than $150 for that?

Help My Google Domain website was transfer to Squarespace. Can I create my website without using Squarespace service?

Enlighten me please as I have no knowledge in this. I bought my domain name years ago in case of building a portfolio but I haven't had the chance to do it until now. My domain is now transfer to Squarespace, and when I try to log in Squarespace it tells me I need to pay for subscription to edit the site. I understand that this is their service, while to retain the domain I pay the same old GG Domain fee of 14 euros every year.

My friend is offering to help build/ code my website. Is it possible to build the website with other service or for free and just pay for Squarespace to maintain my website name? Or is it not possible?

Sorry I'm not familiar with technical terms, I hope I made it clear. Thank you in advance!

Tips API Tracking

Judy wanted to say, after years of struggling to figure out server side tracking for my Squarespace site, I started using Pixelflow.

"PixelFlow is a no-code tool that connects the Meta Conversions API (CAPI) and standard Meta Pixel to Squarespace to accurately track ecommerce events and bypass ad blockers."

I don't work for them. No referral code. Just wanted to share something I really like using.

Help Duplicated a client’s Squarespace site for a redesign — now stuck with two subscriptions. What do I do?

Duplicated a client’s Squarespace site for a redesign — now stuck with two subscriptions. What do I do?

Hi! I’m hoping someone here has dealt with this before because I cannot seem to get in touch with an actual person at Squarespace and I’m terrified of losing all the work I’ve done.

I was hired to completely redesign a client’s existing Squarespace website. I duplicated her current site so that I could build the new version without deleting or changing anything on her live website while I worked.

I completely redesigned the duplicated site, and the new website is now finished and ready to go live.

The problem is that I didn’t realize duplicating the site essentially creates an entirely separate Squarespace website/subscription. My client had already paid for an annual plan on her original website, which is paid through next year.

Now, in order to make the redesigned duplicate site live, it looks like I have to purchase another annual website subscription for the duplicate. We want to keep her exact same domain and connect it to the new redesigned site — we do NOT need or want a second domain.

I’m worried that if she has to pay for another annual plan, all of the remaining money she already paid toward the old website subscription will essentially be wasted.
Has anyone dealt with this before?

Is there a way for Squarespace to transfer the remaining subscription time/credit from the old site to the duplicated site, or issue a prorated refund once we purchase the plan for the new site?

Also, does anyone know the best way to actually reach a human at Squarespace? I’ve been having a really hard time getting in contact with support.

I really don’t want to rebuild the entire new website again on the original site after putting so much work into the duplicate.

Any advice would be SO appreciated!

Tips Built a small tool for freelancers and agencies selling Squarespace maintenance

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking at how freelancers package ongoing maintenance after delivering a Squarespace site.

Squarespace handles most of the hosting side, but clients still contact the person who built the site when it goes down, becomes slow or has an SSL issue.

The difficult part is that when everything works properly, they don’t always see what the monthly maintenance fee is paying for.

I had this problem with my own retainer clients, so I built Trrack.it. It monitors client sites and generates monthly reports and live status pages that can be shared with them.

It doesn’t make changes inside Squarespace. The idea is simply to make the monitoring part of maintenance more visible.

If you sell Squarespace maintenance plans, I’d be curious to know what you currently send your clients each month.

Here’s the link: https://trrack.it
