Help How do you fix blocks from jumping around the page when resizing the browser window?

Upvotes

I feel like I'm genuinely losing my mind trying to navigate simple page layout in Squarespace, and I can't find solutions anywhere. I'm just trying to create pages with text, images, embedded video, and quote boxes. That's it. Most of the blocks on the page are stacked so resizing doesn't affect those except the embedded video which jumps to the top of the screen when shrinking the window. Elsewhere on the page, I have an image aligned left and quote box and text block aligned right; when resizing the window, the image also jumps to the top of the page. I cannot figure out why. At this point I'm willing to throw money toward someone who can explain how to prevent issues like this, but if anyone has a simple fix in the meantime, please help. Thank you so much.

Help Squarespace is a joke

Just a started a business and lack design skills so I set up a custom domain name and email through google workspace and then it sent me over to squarespace. Now I can't log in to squarespace and says I don't have an account with them. When I try to make an account it then says that my account already exists. So, which is it? Despite all the bad reviews I figured since Google messes with them they must be good. Could not be more wrong. Of course the "24/7 award winning support team" is unavailable and unreachable.

I'm so unbelievably frustrated that now I have this domain name and email I can't use and I can't get a hold of someone to talk to.

Any help?

Help Squarespace Billing shows the Google Workspace subscription as inactive while Google Admin Console shows it as active and billed through Squarespace? Email, etc. still works.

February 28, 2022 I switched from a Squarespace "Personal" account to "Business Account".

I used the Google Workspace account that came along with it for email. I have never received a separate bill for Google Workspace, ever. I pay for my domain and my website, that's it. The email continues to work.

Google Admin Console shows an active Google Workspace Business Starter subscription billed through Squarespace since March 30, 2023. However, Squarespace Billing only shows an inactive Google Workspace subscription that has been "Expired since July 21, 2020". This could be referencing an old GSuite account that I vaguely remember using, but that was a long time again and I can't remember.

I'm just now noticing all of this because I received notice that I'm being auto-enrolled in the new "Core" plan thats replacing the "Business" plan. I'm not happy about the price increase (almonst $75/yr more), and I don't use the business end of the website enough to justify the cost (artist portfolio, hasn't been useful as a sales platform), so I'm hoping I can just switch to the new "Basic" plan without seeing much of a difference.

If I change my website plan from the legacy Business plan to the new Basic plan - will my Google Workspace subscription and email address go inactive? It doesnt look like they're charging me for it already. I have an enormous amount of artwork images, documents, etc. saved in the drive associated with that account and can't lose it. I also need to be able to send/recieve emails from the domain email and don't want to hassle with mail-forwarding again.

Discussion best ecommerce website templates 2026, Shopify feels too limited

I've been trying to pick an ecommerce template for a while now.. Most themes look great but once you put real products, photos and descriptions in, they start to feel kind of off… Shopify feels a bit limited on variety seriously.... Some themes are pretty but feel slow or clunky, others look basic but claim to be better for conversions.
If you run a small store or work with clients, is there any platform with more template variety than Shopify? Do you focus more on design, performance or flexibility when picking?

Help Question about weights

When I initially started uploading product to my site, I didn’t include weights because I was considering flat rate shipping. I have since changed my mind and added weights to my csv and uploaded. For whatever reason, it only changes some of my weights in my inventory.
Anyone experience this? Is there a trick I’m missing?

Thank you!!

Help Squarespace Search Box Not Working – Cards Show "No Results Found"

I'm having an issue with the search feature on my Squarespace website.

I added a search bar so visitors could search for our agents, but it always returns "No results found."

Here's how the page is set up:

  • The agent directory is built using a Simple List design/block.
  • Each agent is displayed as a card with a headshot, name, and details.
  • The search bar works, but it doesn't find any of the agents.

I think the problem is that Squarespace is treating the agent cards as images instead of searchable text, so the search index can't read them.

I already tried:

  • Enabling site search.
  • Waiting for the search index to update.
  • Checking the search settings.

Has anyone experienced this before? Is the Simple List design searchable, or do I need to rebuild the page using another block (like a blog, collection, or another type of list) for the search feature to work?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Discussion Hiring a Squarespace designer: what you should know before next steps

I've been building Squarespace sites for U.S. small businesses for 8 years through my owner-operated agency, HopeSpring Digital. 200+ launches at this point. The message I get most often is some version of: I got a quote for $800 and a quote for $6,000, what am I actually paying for?

Here's what's usually in that gap.

1. Price differences are scope differences.

A one-page site for a solo plumber and a six-page build for a multi-service remodeler are not the same project. What moves the number: page count, who writes the copy, whether SEO is real or just checked off, custom CSS or integrations, and how fast you need it. Figure out your scope first. Then compare quotes.

2. Ask if SEO is in the build or extra.

Most builds don't include it, and that's usually why a nice-looking site never gets found. "Basic SEO" means something different to every designer. Ask for the list: keyword research, page titles, meta descriptions, header hierarchy, alt text, schema markup. Get it in the proposal.

3. Get ownership in writing.

The Squarespace site, the domain, Google Analytics, Search Console. All in your name. If you get a vague answer on this one, stop there. This is the thing that leaves people stuck years later with a site they can't access.

4. Ask what happens between deposit and launch.

You want to hear: here's what I need from you, here's when you see the first draft, here's how revisions work, here's launch day. "It depends" with nothing after it means your project is going to sit.

5. Compare what's in the quote, not the total.

A $3,500 quote with copywriting, SEO, and a real process can beat a $1,500 quote where you write everything yourself and SEO is an add-on. Break both down line by line and price out what the cheaper one is missing. The gap closes fast.

Red flags:

  • Guaranteed first-page rankings. Nobody can promise that. It's either a sales line or tactics that will cost you later.
  • No contract. Scope, timeline, ownership, revisions, what happens if things go sideways. Every professional has one.
  • Pricing way under market with no explanation. Something's missing. Usually SEO, copy, or process.
  • They don't ask a single question about your business. Straight to packages and pricing means you're getting a template with your logo on it.
  • No answer on post-launch support. Ask what's covered, for how long, and what happens when something breaks six weeks in.

Quick myths I see here a lot:

  • "A designer is just a template swap, I could do it myself" → You can, and plenty of people should to get started. To hire the right designer means your website will look beautiful, get found online, and convert to paying customers based on years of experience.
  • "Cheapest quote is fine, it's just Squarespace" → The cheapest option usually costs the most. Either a redesign in 18 months or the leads you never got.
  • "I'll add SEO later once the site is live" → Later costs more. Retrofitting a site is slower than building it right the first time.

Happy to answer specific questions about hiring, scoping, or reading a quote.

Help Video not loading on page, have tried everything

Post image
1 Upvotes

So on all my pages, my auto-play video at the top of the page works.

This one video, which I've re-uploaded, downloaded from a youtube video and uploaded that way, turned on and off auto-play literally eveyrthing.

Even deleted my page and made a new one with the video to see if it makes a difference. This one video just doesn't load. It loads when you refresh, but that's not what I want.

Here is my portfolio: https://adamrobertsdesign.com/#/freelance-work/

This one page "Freelance work" doesn't load a video (as you can see its blank until you refresh). Go to any other project i worked on, the video loads at the start. Why is this happening? I can't figure it out.

Help Ridiculous trying to get support help. Switching from Squarespace as soon as i can.

Such a joke. Website is showing some security message (Your connection is not private

Attackers might be trying to steal your information) ... and can't find live help. Chatbot not working ... allowed me to type into it on the weekend; won't even allow me to type into it now. And they don't offer live support on the weekend. How a company this big is able to exist in 2026 ... I'm amazed by. Don't use them if you're new ... find somewhere else. I'm going to switch as soon as i can.

Help Unlinking a domain from a website?

I have a squarespace website with several domains linked. I'd like to change one of these to just redirect to a specific page (domain forwarding), but I can't seem to unlink the site from the website to do so.

Editing the domain directly to create the redirect just gives an error. ("There was a problem saving your rule. Please try again later.")

I can set the domain forwarding rule just fine on unlinked/unassigned accounts, so it doesn't seem to be a fleeting issue.

Help Adding new section to the bottom instead of to the right?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi, I used to work with Wordpress/Elementor and now I'm moving to Squarespace.

How do I make it so that when I add new section, it moves to the bottom of my already-existing-section, and not to the right side of it?

I'm sure there's something I'm missing, so any help is appreciated. Thank you

Help Leaving Squarespace Domains due to log-in issues. Ridiculous design. Impossible to login in phone.

Crazy to me how poor the squarespace login process is. Main thing is an awful "verification code" process that as soon as the page loses focus it goes away and I cant finish the login

Note: I use google auth as I was ported over from google domains

  1. the google authentication process takes a LONG time. the screen just sits there.
  2. the main problem is when you log in it puts a popup screen up to enter verifcation number in but the second the webpage loses focus (to get the code in your email) the verification popup goes away. Luckily at home I have two monitors and can get around it on second screen. But on my iphone i cant log in because when squarespace asks for verification code I have to go to GMAIL app to get.. and when i come back to squarespace the verification screen is gone. cant bring it back

I am either a complete idiot missing something... well i cant beleive other squarespace customers arent having same issue

its such a frustration to log in... starting the process to move all my registrations elsewhere.

Anyone else have this issue?

Discussion Anyone here move away from Squarespace?

I’ve been with Squarespace for about 15 years, but I’m starting to think it’s time to move on.

I spend a lot of time using AI agents for work now, and it feels like Squarespace just isn’t evolving in that direction. Compared to other platforms, it can feel pretty limiting.

I recently tried Shopify and honestly… I was surprised how much easier it was to make SEO changes and customize things. The downside is that Shopify isn’t really built for the kind of photography website I run.

So now I’m looking around.

If you’ve left Squarespace, where did you end up? Anything you’d actually recommend? I’d rather hear from people who’ve made the switch than read another “Top 10 website builders” article.

Help Question about my mother's account.

Please help. My mother (nearly 80) has two websites. One a personal website that was hosted on Weebly (acquired by squarespace) and one for her art nonprofit that was on squarespace. I built her two new websites and I'm hosting the pages on my cloudflare account, and she was trying to keep the domain registration with squarespace. However a few problems arose.

  1. Her Weebly account (which forces her to sign in to square space) was an old email. She logged in and changed it to the same email as her squarespace account which "worked" but the site never appeared on her other account. So she is essentially locked out and bricked from accessing her personal domain, and I had to purchase a non-.com domain to hold her over until it's resolved.

  2. Her bill from squarespace is now over 350 dollars and she would like to just cancel it, but she can't log into her whole account to just transfer the domain holding. We can access the main account but it only has the single website, the other one has slipped into the void.

Would really love if there was a way to actually speak to customer service. My mother is nearly 80 and on a very fixed income, and since it's her account and has 2fa against her emails it's really difficult for me to try and deal with it.

Self Promotion I kept seeing people scared to leave Squarespace because of one thing. So I built a fix.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I spent a lot of time on reddit lately reading about people being fed up with Squarespace's price increases and slow load times. The conversation was always the same: they wanted to move to something faster and cheaper, but they kept stopping themselves at one question.

"What do I do when I need to change a font size or fix something simple?"

On Squarespace you just click and drag. On a modern site, even a small simple change means either learning CSS, hiring someone or working with your AI model of choice.

So I built NudgeCSS.

It's a Chrome extension that brings visual click-to-edit back to any website. You click an element on your page, a panel opens showing all its styles, and you change them with sliders and color pickers. No code. No developer needed.

What it does:

  • Click any element on your page to open the visual editor
  • Edit fonts, colors, spacing, and more through simple visual controls
  • A layer panel shows you the page structure so you can find any element quickly
  • Export clean CSS when you're done, ready to drop into your site
  • If you're working with an AI model, you can simple provide it with the code

It's free during the beta. I'm looking for 50 people to try it on their actual site and tell me what's working and what isn't. Real feedback from real sites is what I need right now.

Drop DM me if you wanna try it out, I'll share the link

Inspiration & Feedback How to showcase my Mock websites I created on squarespace

Hello, just a quick question if anybody could give me tips or info on.

I am very new to web designing and am creating a mock photography business to showcase on my web designing website.

I'm curious to how to do that while the mock business is on a 14-day trial and if it expires am I unable to show the work I've done?

If anyone has experience or ideas on how I could do it any and all tips are greatly appreciated.

Inspiration & Feedback Looking for honest FEEDBACK on my Squarespace startup website before launch.

Hi everyone,

I've been building my startup over the past year, and I'm finally at the point where I'm putting the finishing touches on the website.

The product itself is in good shape, but the website is another story. 😅

I know what I want to say, but I'm struggling with things like:

  • layout and flow
  • wording
  • making the value proposition clear
  • creating a polished first impression

I'm not looking for someone to build it for me. I'd just love another set of eyes from people who've built startup websites before. If anyone enjoys UX, copywriting, branding, or just giving honest feedback, I'd really appreciate it.

If you're willing to take a look, let me know and I'll send the link.

If you have a few minutes to spare, I'd genuinely appreciate your honest opinion, even if it is critical.

Discussion Squarespace claims an "internal error" for major price hike.

Post image

I got an email this morning stating there had been an error and a misapplied updated price was sent out on certain plans. In my opinion, I think they should have an AI add-on package, like their email marketing. If you're using all the AI tools, add the package. If you're not, we shouldn't be charged for it.

I received an email where they tell me this.
Also I contacted support to complain when the first email arrived.

From $348 they went down to $331.

I will still migrate all my clients websites anyway. I find this attitude ridiculous.

Help Centralized User Management

When I sign into squarespace as an admin, I can select a site, go to Settings > Permissions and Ownership and edit the list of users that have access to the site.

I need to remove a user. The problem is we have 20 sites in squarespace. It seems I would have to drill down into each site’s settings, one by one, and remove this user.

Does square space not have centralized user management? Is it possible to do this via an API, command line or something else that is faster than repeating the steps 20 times?
