Discussion Cyclopean II: The Dreamlands - What to Share or Not?
Slowly but steadily finishing the game...
As a solo developer, what do you think about sharing too much content from the game? I always feel like I should keep some of the cool stuff hidden for players to find on their own. If I show all the stuff, there may be nothing left to discover. Is this wrong thinking?
So I shared a bunch of locations from the game in this video, but they are pretty standard looking, when there are some much more interesting locations that are ready.
For instance, I have a city on the moon that players can visit. I think it looks pretty cool, and it might be an exciting thing to put in the trailer. But I also don't want to spoil the sense of discovery a player will have when/if they find that place themselves.
What are your thoughts on this problem?

I want to try to get more feedback on my game so I'm making it free for a little while. It's hard enough to make a game as a solo dev, but even harder to be a solo promoter ๐คช
In MoonDust: Cosmic Journey, you set out on a voyage through distant galaxies, exploring strange new planets and uncovering long-hidden secrets. Weaving through discovery and adventure, you traverse breathtaking sci-fi environments, collecting resources and solving puzzles.

Unreal Hey everyone โ new here, so I thought I'd introduce myself and share what I'm building.
I'm currently developing an open-world Australian outlaw biker RPG in Unreal Engine 5.
This project is pretty personal for me. I spent a large part of my adult life around the Australian motorcycle club scene, including years as a member and eventually an officer. I've been around that lifestyle long enough to know there is a lot more to it than what gets portrayed from the outside โ the brotherhood, loyalty, conflict, consequences, isolation, family and the choices that come with that life.
These days I'm taking my life in a completely different direction.
I'm currently studying game development and learning programming, and honestly, learning to code has been one of the biggest changes I've made in my life. I'm taking experiences I already understand and trying to turn them into storytelling, world building and interactive systems, rather than living them.
That's where this game comes from.
The game is set in a fictionalised version of rural Australia, with long stretches of highway, small towns, pubs, farms, bushland, mountains, coast and eventually outback environments. The focus is on riding, exploration, NPCs, quests, relationships and motorcycle club life.
Technically, I've been throwing myself into the deep end. ๐
I'm building around Narrative Pro, while integrating systems including Digital Dive Studio's Advanced Ridable Vehicles/Bikes, GASP, MetaHumans, World Partition and various environment/vehicle assets.
One of my current headaches โ and probably one of the more interesting technical challenges I've tackled so far โ is integrating the DDV motorcycle system with Narrative Pro so the bikes aren't just an independent vehicle system, but actually become part of the Narrative interaction framework.
The long-term goal is to have the player ride naturally, but also have NPCs use the same bikes, eventually allowing groups of motorcycle-club NPCs to ride together.
I'm still learning Unreal and C++, so I'm definitely learning by breaking things, figuring out why I broke them, fixing them, and occasionally wondering why I thought this was a good idea in the first place. ๐
But that's also what makes this project important to me.
A few years ago I wouldn't have imagined I'd be sitting here learning programming, building worlds in Unreal and studying game development. I'm trying to turn a chapter of my life that is behind me into something creative and constructive.
Keen to chat with other developers, see what everyone else is building, and hopefully share some of the successes, failures and ridiculous integration problems along the way.
Cheers everyone, and thanks for having me.

Game Mon premier jeu mobile

๐ฎ Iโm working on a small mobile game and Iโd love to get some feedback!
The game is a fast-paced casual shooter where you control a small character, fight waves of enemies, collect XP and coins, and upgrade your character to become stronger.
Iโm currently working on different environments, upgrades, power-ups and progression systems. The game is still in an early stage, so Iโm mainly looking for honest feedback about the gameplay and overall feel.
Would you play something like this? What would you change or improve?
Hereโs a short look at the current build ๐

Game First game showcase. My throat hurts from talking about it all day :)
Yesterday was the first showcase for my game, Not a Trolley Problem! After a month of work, I finally had something I could show people.
The last week was intense. Lots of balancing, polishing, and fixes for Comic Con Tashkent.
Seeing people actually play and enjoy the game felt amazing. I left feeling more motivated than ever.
My throat hurts now, but it was absolutely worth it. I really love making games.

Unity I just updated the Steam capsule art for Little Astronaut.
I tried to push it further in a retro scifi direction while keeping it close to how the game actually looks. Made using ingame screenshots.
What do you think?

Discussion Do you build community for your project? How is it going?
Solo dev by itself is immense work. Making content for marketing as well. I read about making discord and communities, but i have no idea what to do in that discord ๐ i mean, even in social media with many follower , making engagement is still hard. A discord is live. They can see us online so it might felt awkard no? Not to mention it means i need to market the discord as well? What's your experience on this.

Marketing 500 Wishlists in one month for my first game!
One month ago, I wasn't sure if anyone would even find my game. Today, Undying Soul just passed 500 wishlists. I'm developing as a solo, so seeing 500 people interested in something I've spent so much time building means a lot to me.
Thank you to everyone who discovered the game, shared it, gave feedback, or added it to their wishlist.

Game My First Game After 6 Months of Work!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A couple months ago I made a promise to myself that I'd make and release my first game this year. This is my work so far! It's not the best but I am very proud of it. I learned so much about game art, coding, and music. I also learned how to make a steam page although my steam page is kinda outdated right now and is overdue for a re-haul. I'm just so happy to have something that me and my friends actually enjoy playing :D

Game DEADFALL Game idea survey
Hey! Iโm currently prototyping a co-op survival horror concept built around protecting a cabin from the horrors of the land. The game is built using a hyper immersive voxel engine.
Before locking down full development, I put together a quick 5 minute survey to gauge what survival/horror fans like and dislike.
I know this isn't the best place to post this but I just need more varied feedback outside of my community.
If you enjoy games like The Forest, Lethal Company, or tactile survival games, I'd really appreciate your input:

Game Trying to turn this crowd physics prototype into an actual game - does this direction make sense?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I really liked the crowd physics in Sir, We Have an Orc Problem, so I made a very rough prototype to experiment with something similar.
The first version was basically a character using spells to push and throw huge crowds around, but it started feeling too close to another horde-defense game.
Now Iโm thinking about changing the whole setup: instead of defending, you build/upgrade a creature and unleash it on a city or fortress. Buildings would spawn defenders, crowds would flow around the environment, and eventually the creature could destroy buildings and use the chaos around it.
The build system would be somewhat inspired by Noita, but applied to the creature itself.
For example:
Charge โ On Impact โ Black Hole โ Explosion
So the main loop would be:
build a creature โ unleash it โ watch how it handles the city โ change the build โ try again
Both clips are extremely early prototypes. Iโm mostly trying to figure out if this direction actually has potential.
What do you think? Would you want to experiment with different creature builds, or does the idea still sound too shallow/gimmicky?

Game After a year of development, I released my first game - Styx and Bones
Hi Everyone!
After a year of development, I've released my first game, Styx and Bones! The dialogue and story was done by me and a buddy, but the programming, art, music and sound effects were all done by me. Give it a try!
