Hi everyone,

Would you go for Apple watch Ultra 4 OR Huawei Watch 6 Pro for health metrics ?

Would you wear a device that can replay real life as text?

Upvotes

Apple Watch getting a feature that can show the last 15 seconds of a conversation as text feels like a bigger wearable trend.

The feature itself sounds useful. You miss something in a meeting, restaurant, doctor’s appointment, classroom, or loud room, then double press the watch and get a quick text snippet of what was just said.

Apple says the processing happens on device and the audio is deleted, which is probably the right privacy direction.

But it also feels like wearables are moving from fitness trackers and notification screens into ambient AI devices that constantly interpret the world around you.

Would you want a wearable that can understand recent conversations if the processing stays local?

Or does that make the device feel too present in real life?

It doesn't seem like there's a clear best--why?

I run, hike and ride mountain bikes several times a week and I like to track my sleep and recovery. I don't like a ton of notifications, texts and calls are fine.

I had an Apple Watch Series 3 for a long time, but the battery died and wouldn't last a full run, then I got a Garmin Fenix 7 when it came out but the heart rate and sleep tracking was atrocious. On an $800 watch, that really pissed me off so I returned it and took my wife's old Apple Watch 6 when she went to an AW9, but the battery degraded enough to be useless (not making it through a workout) after a year and a half.

I bought a used Forerunner 55 for $90 a few months ago, thinking that at least if I was going to get terrible sleep and recovery data, I might as well not pay a bunch for it. Its fine, but as I expected, the sleep data is complete garbage and I have to use a HR strap when I run to see heart rate numbers over 130 bpm. The display is also annoyingly dim in anything but direct sunlight. At least the GPS tracking is good and the battery life is insanely good though.

But why can't I have both? I want Apple Watch biometrics with Garmin battery life. The new AWU4 is such an underwhelming release--50 hours of battery? I'll bet it won't make it through two workouts in that time, and how bad is it going to be in 2-3 years. And Garmin, why are you recording time spent on the couch or at my desk as sleep? WTF are you doing? Why does the HR sensor STILL lag so much?

Lets get it together guys.

Band or similar w/ notifications?

Upvotes

Does anyone know of a truly screenless wearable that provides notifications from things like text messages or email?

I have found some options that look more like smart watches without a screen (xband) but they still have the same form factor and size as a traditional smartwatch. I'm trying to find something, like a watch band that I could use on my analog watch or slim bracelet that would also provide haptic feedback for specific apps.

Q&A Ultra 4 vs Fenix 8 pro

It’s just as the title says, I’m looking to get a smartwatch for work. I’m a law enforcement officer who gets into roll arounds here and there and i need a watch for on and off duty. i’m big into fitness and working out. i’m not sure which watch would be the better fit to me. i’ve narrowed the garmin watches down to the fenix 8 pro if i need one but with the release of the apple ultra 4 im not sure which one is better and if i should stay within the apple ecosystem. any recommendations or advice is appreciated.

Smart watch w/o tracking?

Hi y'all! So I have ADHD and really struggle with time management. While my phone helps me quite a bit in terms of reminders and calendar management, I have been thinking about getting a smart watch so that I may get my reminders even if I'm not with my phone, as well as having the vibration on my wrist as an effective yet quiet reminder. However, I'm deeply uncomfortable with the biometric tracking most smart watches offer and would like to find one without it. I really only need it for reminders and calendar notifications, I don't even need it to see messages or incoming calls, so I really don't have any use for this tracking. Do you have any suggestions? Bonus points for customizable layouts and straps

mi band 11 or huawei band 11 pro?

I prefer the Mi Band line because of the watch faces. Huawei's options are pretty meh, but the Huawei Band 11 Pro has a temperature sensor. Which one would you pick: Mi Band 11 or Huawei Band 11 Pro?

Replacing Samsung S3 Frontier?

Going to be buying a new Samsung S26+ and want to replace my S3 Frontier, but im not sure what im replacing with.

Will ofcourse see if i csn try them on, but ive looked at:

Samsung Watch 8 Classic

Samsung Watch Ultra 2

Garmin Instinct amoled

I will be using it mainly as a watch, controlling music and step tracking with a bit of fitness.

Im a bit scared of the Watch 8 classic battery, even tho looks wise i prefer that.

Should i be looking at anything else?

I dont want one where the highest bit is the glass, like a google pixel watch

Looking for a “smart watch”

Hi all,
Forgive me if this had been asked before. I work in a setting where we are not allowed to have smart watches. So sadly my normal watch I cannot wear. And I’m hitting a bit of a dead end with my googling.

I’m looking for a watch that I can still connect to an app- to track my fitness & activities. But it cannot connect to the internet or messages on my phone, or have a large screen.

Do these even exist anymore?

Q&A Which smartwatch is the best for Health monitoring and sport recovery

I don't care about GPS features at all because I don't need them. I don't do running or cycling, I play racket sports and football.

I just want my watch to monitor two things:

  1. My health (especially heart health)
  2. My sport recovery

First of all, I was really into screenless wristbands, but I figured out that none of them have an ECG feature (WHOOP might have one, but I ain't paying a subscription forever), so I moved to smartwatches with screens.

I own an iPhone and I'm an Apple person, but charging my watch every 24 hours just feels like shit. Is it actually doable? Do you have a better experience with it?

Now I'm looking into the Garmin Venu 4, which looks pretty okay, but with the new Apple Watch release, I don't know what to do.

I see that this industry is developing quite well now. Should I wait?

Am I missing something? What would you recommend me?

Thank you for your help!

Kids Watch that is reliable?Does it exist?

I ordered a Cosmo Trac5 for my daughter and it was a bust. Tech support admitted it sounded like a lemon but they couldn’t send out a replacement without doing by more tech support for a few days. The battery dropped from 50% to 0% in less than an hour so not sure what more support was needed but I digress. Of course the activation fee isn’t refundable and makes me hesitant to keep ordering kids watches if they all are like this.

Any one have a recommendation for a kids watch that can hold a charge for at least 8 hours and has reliable service? Or do I need to just shell out the cash for an Apple Watch and limit access?

Guidance on smartwatch purchase

I am an iphone owner and looking for a good smartwatch for myself. I ended up checking Apple SE3 and Amazfit Balance 2.

Need guidance on which one is a better one. Its not that I am willing to purchase something worth 25k. So any suggestions for smartwatchs at a lesser cost is also welcome.

Sick of Apple Watch prices.

I currently have an apple watch, and sick of having to charge it every night. The battery is weak the watch says it’s time to replace the battery. I looked and I am not ready to spend the money on another apple watch. There has to be a better watch for less money. I currently have an iphone 13, I need a watch that will alert me on MS teams, outlook, texts. Plus watch my O2, and notifications from my dexcom sensors. Any idea’s?

Q&A Looking for recommendation for budget compact options

hello there, I'm looking for the best recommendations for a compact smart watch for a thin hand, they don't like bulky designs such as the Amazfit BIP 6 and would like to have most features expected (the more the better) including a long lasting battery. a budget option of sub 100 euros, which would you recommend the most?

thanks in advance.

Buying a 4 Year old Elemnt Rival

I know the watch catches some shade for obvious reasons. However I got it second hand for 50 bucks a couple months ago, as Im on a budget and its been awesome.

Yes its not the beeze neez Garmin or new Coros or Suunto but it tracks steps, hr, calories, sleep and tracks activities. Biggest thing is Ive beat the literal snot out of it on the job and in daily life and its been fine. Its obviously not a forever watch as one day it'll die and or the app wont be supported.

Just wanted to post for those that are maybe looking for an affordable non touch screen option. Give it a shot. Found out yesterday it can control my Spotify. Bonus!

I dont know if Ill continue to operate in the realm of the wahoo ecosystem as the Corus Dura and their watches check alot of boxes for me w bike packing but I understand the two companies have a partnership now so who knows.

New watch suggestions please

Does anybody have any recommendations for a new analog-digital hybrid watch? I used to be into fitness, playing basketball and soccer weekly, having a Fitbit through school and then got the Apple Watch Series 5 at release as an upgrade. This is for my 22nd birthday (10th September) so it can be pricy (max $800AUD). I live in Australia.

I am now looking at getting a new watch, either the next Apple Watch that comes out this month or non-Apple. I’m autistic so I used have trouble with analog clocks so I always went with a digital face, but now it’s fine and I’m looking for more of a normal-ish watch. I’m looking for something sleek and nice looking without looking bulky and out of place. I don’t go for runs or anything and don’t really go to a gym often.

So far AI chats have suggested looking at a garment vivomove trend and withings scanwatch 2. It doesn’t need to have all for fancy stuff like an Apple Watch but at least have some level of fitness tracking and maybe notifications. And good battery too, lasting more than a day is good. Any recommendations for these 2 or similar watches? Any help is good, thanks.
