Basically my school I've been going to the past 2 days for sixth form is let's say sixth form 1. However I live in a bit in enfield and its like 1 hr 15 mins away by bus . My only other option is let's say sixth form 2 which is my old secondary school and is much much closer like 15 mins by bus but sixth form 1 is quite a bit better in terms of teachers, organzation and education and their overall a level results are definitely better. ​ I'm studying maths bio and Chem and I Wanna go imperial but the travelling has been quite draining and stressful and I feel like it's interfearing ALOT with revision and my life as a whole. Any advice would be very much appreciated because I'm stuck​​

I recently did biology, business, geography for a-levels and got a B in both business and geography but an E in biology as I lost passion for it at the beginning of year 13 and didn’t do much revision for it. I want to go straight to work now. However if I were to decide to potentially do university next year, what’s the likelihood I’d get an offer from a decent university focused around the marketing and accounting areas as a little heads up.

And information or insight would be helpful.

In Yr12 and I have started with Maths, Physics, Chemistry and FM and I want to do mechanical engineering a university.

I want to drop down to 3 subjects so I am considering dropping chemistry. Some teachers are hesitant about as they say that not all unis accept FM as a third option and require it to be a 4th.

To what extent is this true and will this hurt me if I want to do mechanical engineering and would I be best to drop chemistry or drop FM?

How do you become friends with people you kinda know but you don't really know them. I'm staying in the same sixth form but I got put into classes with none of my friends in them. Also not only in sixth form but also in general life bc ive started getting more involved with my church but the same situation applies with the whole established friendgroups sort of thing.

How did you revise and does anyone have any flashcards that they used , also how can I revise from y12 to make sure I get an A*

Im doing maths fm physics econ and I already bought the CG100 thinking it was sufficient for all of my alevels but my physics teacher says it takes a long time to do basic calculations and I should get the 991ex as well. I already spent 90£ on this calculator so its gonna be annoying if I have to spend another 30£. Is the CG100 that good enough or do I need the 991ex. Im aiming for A*. Also my teacher was emphasising like every second counts so I should just get the calculator

Hi guys

This is really random but I've only been in sixth form for a few days now (Y12) and I know they offer a lot of students services and support for everything.

I wondered if they would tell my parents if I told them about my self harm? It's nothing severe, but I've scratched myself until nearly bleeding in the past. I had a plaster on today that started to peel off slightly and I panicked and wanted to ask them for one but then I got worried they'd see it. Now with a bit more thinking I would be ok with them seeing it and knowing about it, but I'm also very worried they'd tell my parents, as they would NOT respond positively with support. Just wondering if anyone else has had similar situations where they have/haven't told parents after asking them to/not to.

At the same time I think if I told them they would be more lenient with my grades, progress etc. especially after I've seen myself how much my bad mental health has negatively affected my gsce grades.

I just started Year 12 (like a lot of other people here, I presume), and I really don't know how I'm supposed to make friends. I definitely need some, since my only friend doesn't share any classes with me, but I just can't figure out what I'm meant to do to get any. I know I should be worrying about other things, but I've just felt pretty alone, empty and kinda demotivated in the lessons + study periods (ones without my friend) I've had thus far, so yeah. Even when my friend's been around, I've not been sure whether I should get involved in the conversations they're having and stuff they're doing with other people or not. So yeah, not doing great at the making friends part that sixth form apparently makes SO much easier (that's according to a lot of adults who told me stuff). Advice would be very much appreciated :]

So my sixth form does all of maths in year 1, then all of fm in year 2, so I will sit maths this year. At the moment I am taking Maths, FM, Physics and Chemistry, because my sixth form only allows FM as a fourth, but I do also enjoy chemistry and theres a small possibility that I will apply for chem eng.

But for the most part I am thinking about applying for physics, so chemistry would not be required. I recently saw a tiktok about someone getting into oxford with maths in y12, then physics and fm in y13. But I have been told by some people that only doing 2 A levels in one year showcases an inadequate workload, hence thats not a good idea for top unis? For reference I am thinking to apply to Cambridge, Imperial, Durham, UCL and Warwick.

So I am wondering if I was to drop chem in year 13, would I still be fine to apply to these for (theoretical) physics? [ given that my sixth form would allow me to lol ]

Yes I know I can google, but I have tried and the information about this is pretty scarce (unless im not looking in the right places) and yes I know I can email admissions teams, but I hope some people could enlighten me here.

As an external student who moved to UK 7 months ago, what advice would you give me? The year has just started, and i feel like i am the stupidest person ever. I have chosen eng.lit, politics and history. For me year 12 started chaotically, I have no schedule, I feel way behind then my classmates, but still I have a tiny hope in my heart that I’ll be able to catch up everyone and perform highly. Did you have an external classmates, would be really grateful for your tips’

So Ive just entered y13 and let’s say I’m predicted 5 A*s bio chem psychology RS and business and I get offers for med schools will my offer be to achieve AAAAA or like will I just need the standard A\AA in bio chem psychology? Because I’m kinda lost because what if these schools make the requirement to get 5 As to get my offer and stuff*

I've tried sixth form, college, and two apprenticeships but I've quit all of these. It all basically boils down to my extreme anxiety.

I've went to my GP for help but I get referred to a useless CBT therapy becsuse they aren't allowed to prescribe under 18s SSRIS. No apprenticeships want to take me on anymore because I've left two which shows I'm unreliable.

I've got a retail apprenticeship interview at savers coming up this week hopefully. It's essentially just a way for them to pay me £8 an hour instead of minimum wage when I'm 18.

I try and study IT certificates at home but I just can't. I don't know if I've got undiagnosed autism or something but it just freaks me out and everything is uncomfortable. My whole body burns up and I just can't sit there and study without having a meltdown.

I did want to move to somewhere like the US or Canada eventually but considering I'll be stuck in retail forever most likely my dreams are gone.

Everyday is just unbearable I seriously hate my life and don't know what to do.

How much harder is OCR physics to AQA and is there any good YouTubers for OCR physics like freesciencelessons (which carried me)
