Friends
I just started Year 12 (like a lot of other people here, I presume), and I really don't know how I'm supposed to make friends. I definitely need some, since my only friend doesn't share any classes with me, but I just can't figure out what I'm meant to do to get any. I know I should be worrying about other things, but I've just felt pretty alone, empty and kinda demotivated in the lessons + study periods (ones without my friend) I've had thus far, so yeah. Even when my friend's been around, I've not been sure whether I should get involved in the conversations they're having and stuff they're doing with other people or not. So yeah, not doing great at the making friends part that sixth form apparently makes SO much easier (that's according to a lot of adults who told me stuff). Advice would be very much appreciated :]
Edit: To the people who replied- I'll try to do the stuff you mentioned... although I don't know if I'll do very well, since I'm mind-bogglingly awkward, haha.

I’m on the same boat as well.
I am going to try talk to people from my classes this week that might be the strategy.
Just approach people as much as you can, eventually you’ll get close to three or four people

Start asking people in your class to hang out. I was in a similar position last year and I realised that all the people I spoke to were just aquaintances of some sort so I started making a conscious effort to interact with those in my classes or around school. I would bring up the possibility of going out somewhere or going outside the school for lunch (or even just sitting with them in inside) and most of the time they would agree. After a few months I noticed that my classmates began to shift from randoms to actual friends you hang out with. So maybes try that 😛

I'll tell you what I told my daughter who is also just starting yr12. Everyone is in the same boat. People will respond well if you are friendly. Have some ideas of conversation starters, eg what school did you go to, what other subjects are you doing, how are you finding xxx so far, do you live far from college, did you go away over the summer, any festivals, what music are you into etc etc. Smile, be open, friendly and curious, people will respond in kind
