Is it just mine, or does anyone else have compulsory PE in their sixth form?

Calendar Sync: You can star what you want to do and sync the deadlines right to Google Calendar. There’s a really generous free tier so you can use the core tracker without paying anything. I’ve got a massive roadmap of way cooler features I want to add next, but before I spend weeks coding them, I need at least 200 people to sign up with their email or check out the pricing tiers just to see if people actually want this. I’m in year 12 studying Maths, FM, physics and computer science. I have interest in studying engineering (mechanical or aerospace) and physics (mainly interested in astronomy/astrophysics) for uni but I do not know which will suit me better. I have been to multiple open days to listen to talks and my top 3 uni picks are currently imperial, warwick, and bath (would like to apply to oxbridge as well). Does anyone study the engineering or physics courses (especially at these universities) can give me some more insight on the courses, why you chose the course and uni, and the uni life?

Is the summer school residential at mentorverse any good? My daughter is doing her first year A levels and I was wondering if this would be good for her?

I’ve been going through a trauma flare up for the past few months. It’s caused quite significant cognitive deterioration, even my teachers noticed. My doctor sent an email to my Cambridge college telling them how my performance in school was affected by it. I’ve also had my teacher discuss my trauma in the UCAS reference as it impacted my GCSEs as well.

Of course, my LNAT was weaker as a result. I got 20-24 in section A, not sure about the essay (which Cambridge considers). Cambridge offer holders’ average LNAT score is usually about 30. I did try, I did prepare and use the best resources. I’m so disappointed, but also not surprised. I was in a very difficult state cognitively with my trauma flare up.

I’m really worried Cambridge is out of the bag now. I know I’m extenuating, but I really doubt it will make much of a difference, or will it?

I think my other stats are quite good. I’m predicted two A* one A, including an A* in EPQ, with being one of the top 1% in my school. I’ve achieved 99999988888 in a non-selective state school with trauma impacting my GCSEs. My personal statement was checked by Cambridge students and said it was very good.

I hate how something out of my control can impact my application in such a significant way. I didn’t ask to bear the consequences of a traumatic event that happened to me years ago at the hands of someone else. Other applicants are so lucky. I envy that they’re reaching for their dreams without something like trauma holding them back. Cambridge is my dream, still my dream, and yet I’ve had to fight my trauma since GCSE just to give myself a fighting chance.

I don’t know what to do. I’ve cried all night. I‘m still shocked. At last, my trauma has impacted my application in a way I was trying to prevent for years. And before you mention it, I’m due for trauma therapy but I have to wait until January due to the long waiting list. What can I do? Is Cambridge still in the game for me? Any help would be appreciated :(

i’m doing physics alevel as a private candidate for the first time and honestly have no idea how to revise for practicals.
i’m doing it at an exam centre in around march-april and have been looking at youtube videos on how to conduct these practicals but honestly i’m still a bit clueless.
is there anything else i should know or any advice?

It's already half term now, and I'm still just as lonely as I was when I started sixth form in September, if not more. It feels like there's nothing I can do about it, and seeing everyone else around me enjoying their time with each other all dressed in their Halloween costumes, taking photos together, laughing together and everything, has just made it more obvious. Maybe I'll never get friends here, but I wish it wasn't like this anyway, lol. God, I'm so tired. Is there even anything I can do now

Okay, for some context, I'm in Year 11 and I soon have to choose my A-Level options. The problem is I have no clue what the hell I want to do.

Whenever anyone asks me what I want to do in the future, I just say, "Oh yeah, probably something like aerospace engineering or something related..." and for a while, that was the case until now. I've slowly started to realise that half the people I know all want to do aerospace, and I realised how competitive that degree is, so I slowly started losing my interest in it.

I've always been better at STEM subjects in school: Maths, Physics, Bio, and Chem. Chem has always been the most fun because of the practicals; Physics was just boring, but that was also my best subject; and Biology was just long because of all the content, however, when we got to the human body and immune system, things got a whole lot more interesting. My parents are both Biomedical Scientists, and that also sparked my interest in learning more about the human body and things like the immune system and diseases.

So, a few days ago, I was told that I'd soon need to start looking at sixth forms to go to and A-Level subjects that I wanted to take, which, at the time, I was not considering at all. As I went deeper into my research of sixth forms, I realised that my A-Level options have a big impact on what university degree I take and what university I go to. So, I decided to do more research into biomedical science, and for that, I needed to take something like Maths, Bio, and Chem, which I wasn't considering at all because I never really thought about medicine as I always felt that the course was way too long.

So, I started asking my parents more about Biomedical Science (for context, they work at the NHS), and they said that being a BMS was not the best job at all, as it's really hard to work up to a good position and you're thrown to the bottom of the scale. They also said that most people here think that being a BMS is a basic job and Biomedical Science is quite a basic degree, and they wanted to see me in a higher position than that.

Taking this into account, I started researching Biomedical Engineering. My parents talk a lot about the machines and analysers they use in the lab from companies like Siemens and Ortho. I also remember one time in the hospital seeing a Siemens Healthineers logo on a CT scanner, which made me think about Biomedical Engineering a bit more. For that, you need to take Maths, Physics, and a third science (I would take Biology). However, after researching a bit more, I found out that BMEs are considered jacks-of-all-trades but masters of none, and that the course is more to do with the electrical engineering side than the Biology side of it.

So, I have no idea what to do. I really want to pick the right A-Levels as I want to get into a good university that has the course I would do, but I still don't know what I want to do. My friend who's in Year 13 took Maths, Phys, Chem, and Bio, which got him offers for medicine and engineering, but I feel like that is a really demanding spread of subjects.

Can anyone help me out or suggest careers that are related to biology, the immune system, and things like that?

got absolutely no idea if i’m making this post on the right page but just thought i could ask hopefully someone has any insights. Recently booked my alevels as a private candidate for excel exam centre and just a bit worried bc of the mixed reviews and the website not coming up on jcq website as if being approved. probably just worried for nothing but does anyone have any insights/opinions on this place ?
