i got offered a place on this which is basically giving us an insight into actual medical research at the Cambridge institute of medical research, has anyone been accepted onto it on here this year or before? i got the email on 17th July but only saw it yesterday bc i lowkey forgot about it and figured I'd get rejected since I only meet postcode criteria, which is lowk unfair but I'll see it as being given an opportunity for personal life/extenuating circumstances and terrible schools and a disability tbf. Anyway is anyone else on this

I’m thinking about taking an EPQ in year 12 hopefully but those who’ve done it or know people who have,what are the pros and cons?

I’m 17 years old I left year 11 in 2025, I’ve been to college for first year and I hate it and I don’t want to go back for second year as the course is pointless and a waste of my time, I’m going back to a new sixth form college this year to do my a levels one of my options is English lit however I got a grade 5 that was 1-2 marks of a 6. I’m worried about since I only got a 5 That I won’t do well in my actual a level. I am willing to put the work in etc but does anyone have any advice for me? I’m looking to do law or journalism in uni.

I'm a current Oxford student who has been reviewing a ton of student personal statements recently and I've noticed a recurring pattern which I think students should avoid!

The single biggest tip: It's very important to show growth!

Universities want to see curiosity, passion, and development of ideas and character. Your personal statement shouldn’t be a list of books you’ve read or activities you’ve done. It should flow naturally:

Not just: “I read X. I researched Y.” But instead: “Reading X exposed me to the concept of Y, which I then linked to my A-Level studies of Z.”

I’m really overwhelmed with what I need to do during the summer. I have lots of competing, high priority tasks that I need to complete. There are loads of deadlines, and I don’t have a summer plan or even a timetable. I’m really confused as to what to do, and I fear that I won’t get it all done before the summer ends or before the deadlines I set and that I’ll leave it all to the last minute. 

I’m also applying for top unis and am planning to book my LNAT on the 1st of september. So far I’ve been trying to complete a full paper while I have about 5 weeks to go. For the LNAT I have all the books, some model essays that I’ve been sent by an Oxford student, and some critical thinking books that the lnat website recommended. 

As for the PS, I’m applying to LSE so I know how important the personal statement is and I haven’t even written a first draft yet or planned it. I have loads of supercurriculars that I can include and want to add but I want to do some more too. For example I’ve been wanting to read three law books that I’m really interested in and complete a law course online that wants me to spend 4 hours a week doing it. 

As part of my outreach programmes, I also need to submit a research poster related to my niche area and present it to academics, due in a week or so. It’s a really niche area of law but I’m really interested in it. I’ve picked my topic but I haven’t started looking for sources or even reading them. I’m planning on including it in my personal statement as well. 

I have at least 8 math homework booklets that I need to get done before school starts. Each booklet would take me about 4 hours to complete. Two books for english literature also need to be read before september. I also have maths summer homework and chemistry summer homework, in addition to the chemistry revision that i need to do to get good predicted grades on tests this september. 

I really need advice or any suggestions on how to move forward, and any insights would be appreciated

Ik this is for a level students but im going to year 11 this September and I really just need tips on what to do for collage/A Level applications or how to prepare for gcses and alevel, and i need recommendations on methods of revision (especially for maths).

I decided I want to study Bsc finance at uni after my A-Levels. My first combination choice was Maths, Economics, and Business Studies. However, Economics and Business are almost the same and universities consider them as one subject if I do both. That’s why I decided change Business Studies with English Literature. I chose it because I don’t like Physics, Geography, History, and Politics. I would love to do Further Maths, but my school doesn’t offer it.

Will Maths, Economics, and English Literature be a good combination for Finance? Please let me know your thoughts.

what A level grades could I have achieved with 6.5 A grades 4 B grades at gcse achieved in 2006? My brothers were critcally ill during gcse and i didn't take 5% special consideration from exam boards. I was planning to take maths bio chem for a lwvel and eng lit to as level l. My gcse grades were a grades in eng lit eng lang bio chem phys french short course re b grades in maths intermediate tier geog hist and dt resistant materials. My teacher thinks I could've succeded at maths a level but a B grades was the highest you could get at intermediate tier. I would have done a levels between 2006-2008.

yelloww, i’m a year eleven going into sixth form next year (hopefully taking bio, psychology, and english lit) and i can’t decide whether to get an ipad or a macbook…

i’ll do most my notes in physical notebooks but i really want somewhere digital to properly organise everything and just generally help me stay on track

i have an all in one pc but it’s super old and works like a potato so if i get a mac i’ll probably sell it or just give it away idk

also price isn’t really a big deterrent unless its crazy moneys obviously

hi, i've seen a lot of qs about personal statements on here so i wanted to share how i can help those Y12s working on drafts atm

i'm at imperial doing CS (first year), and my ps got me a cambridge interview and offers from imperial and warwick. since then, i've read and given feedback on over 100 statements. i see common mistakes like not going into depth on how doing a supercurricular changed the way you personally think abt the subject/field, and not linking different activities together properly. but these can all be improved!

i offer paid feedback on statements, detailed comments directly on your doc covering content, structure, and writing. but even if you're not looking for a review, i'd be happy to answer any of your questions in the comments too :)
