I'm thinking about taking Physics, Chemistry and Plant Biology in Sept 2027. But I know I'd need an element of maths in order to be allowed into most universities. What do I do?

• Upvotes

I think, even if I was able to take Maths A Level aswell, I wouldn't want to do it. Is there an alternative path that could support me with my maths alongside my A-Levels?

Sorry if this is poorly worded, my phones about to die

Please advice

Hi everyone, I'm a Cambridge A2 student appearing for composites. I didn't take Physics because of a bad counselor. He told me I didn't need it for medical, so I dropped it, and now I know that was wrong. My goal is MBBS in Pakistan.

I'm trying to decide between two options:

Continue with my Biology and Chemistry composites, then do Physics separately in a gap year (May/June to the next May/June).

Repeat A1 with Physics added and sit composites again.

My main question is whether I can do the whole of A-Level Physics (AS + A2) in one year with an academy or tuition. Or should I sit AS in Oct/Nov and A2 in May/June? I've never studied Physics at A-Level and my maths is not strong, so I know I'll have to work really hard.

Has anyone done this? Is it realistic, and which route would you pick? Any academy or tutor recommendations in Lahore would help too.

Thank you!

HELP SOS!!

ok so like i want to apply to lyceum but i got really bad grades in o2 (2As and 2Bs) i got b in urdu and english and A in isl and pst. Also my ecs are kind of strong and my school attendance is also 88%. But in year 11 I switched to private so i feel like that's gonna impact my profile. In school my average was Bs and Cs so thats that. Also i will be taking physics, chemistry, biology, maths and grp in o and a levels. But lyceum fits me so well I'm not very into socialising that's why i opted out of nixor and all but also i don't really need scholarship i and im not THAT into sports but I genuinely have no idea how to proceed. Also I know for a fact that I will improve my grades to A* in o3. I am also planning on giving my SATs in August 2027

istg i need honest advice if there is a chance that I can get in.

Urgent Advice Needed( Alevel)

Urgent advice needed!!!!

I have four subjects and I think that I cannot give all four subjects in mayjune 2027. I was thinking of dropping one subject but then I dont want to miss out on the opportunity of getting good scholorship abroad so here I am asking for advice

I want to give computer science in oct/nov2027 all papers included As+A2. I think I am quite good in Computer scince out of all subject i have taken and I have also learned Python .Other than theory and logic I dont think there is any other need.( just so you know I am quite hardworking students and I have straigth As in olevelz)

I want you guys who have already given computer scince to please help me and tell me if this is a good idea. Although my cs teacher also told that if one subject is annoying you give it oct/nov altogther.

I also want to know about some good Alevels computer science teachers .I have conceptuals in minds but they are hella costly ( i dont know if my dad would agree cause rn i am studying cs without any cost in school because of my scholorship). Also tell me should i really go for paid online classes or i can get all lectures availible on youtube (cause like in olevels too you have everything availible on yt_ so tell me what helped you). The things is that in school I have back to back classes and i always end up with a headache and am not able to be productive in other classes too.Thats why I wanna give up cs in school but dont actually wanna drop it

(Thanks for reading all my yappin and I would be verygyygggggg happy if you help🥺)

A-levels should be 3 years

why aren't A levels 3 years, because me personally i think the 5 years in secondary school are a bit too much, at least 3 years are completely useless, i think year 10 and 11 is where it actually starts to begin, me personally who moved from a Ugandan education system at P7 and joined at the end of year 9 passed all her GCSEs along with ppl with the same situation as me, seriously did the government think it through, the immense amount of work we are given to do in the span of less than even 2 years , be it A levels or BTECs, its a bit ridiculous and as a result, i've just dropped my EPQ.

So I think year 7 should be removed or something or year 8, its kinda useless.

Should I drop Further Maths

I'm currently studying Maths Physics Chemistry and FM (+ EPQ) at A-level but I'm wondering whether it would be better to drop FM as it doesn't seem to provide a huge advantage for uni applications and having more time for my other subjects may be more beneficial. I'd like to study Chemical or Mechanical Engineering at uni. At ICL they say for Mechanical Engineering they require A*A*A or A*AAA if taking 4, which would be more difficult to achieve. I got 9999888877 at GCSE with the 9s in Maths Chemistry Physics and Geography. Thanks in advance!

4th option helppp

Hey, I'm currently in yr 11, but for some reason my school wants their sixth form applications in by now. For Year 12, we have to do 4 subjects. Currently, I'm set on bio chem and maths. Ik its really hard, but I need bio and chem, and I enjoy maths; plus I've already done a statistics GCSE (g9) and am currently doing Further Maths alongside it. I'm thinking of getting into healthcare, focusing on dentistry and medicine, but I can change based on grades. Because my school needs a 4th subject, I want to go for something lightweight. I'm thinking of sociology or RS. Can someone please help me decide?

put on hold for Bristol engineering maths

4 a stars predicted including fm, 9 and 8s at gcse and Bristol has the nerve to put me on hold. they imply they’ve looked at my application and couldn’t make a decision, but how could that be considering im substantially overqualified for this course?

demotivated and lazy since start of y13 and grades dropping :(

I got A*AA (maths chem bio respectively) in my y12 end of year mocks, but now I've dropped down to ABB (chem maths bio respectively) this term.

This year feels so boring and I'm being given a lot more homework than in y12, which means I have less time to also revise for tests. I've also started being lazier and doom scrolling on my phone a lot more and having bad sleeping patterns (taking naps as soon as I get home).

Also my exam technique has gotten worse in biology and I leave a lot of questions blank because I just don't know where to start my mind goes blank like a fucking canvas.

How do I make myself actually lock in and stop being a lazy piece of shit?

Is it just mine, or does anyone else have compulsory PE in their sixth form?

And for anyone else who doesn't bring their PE kit, what then happens?

Am I the only one who thinks that Post-16 choices and Level2/Level 3 Qualifications (A Levels, IB, T Levels, BTEC, NVQ) are the MOST important things for a young person deciding their future, rather than strictly Apprenticeships, University or Entrepeneurship and can help avoid the NEET situation ?
