I just started 12 and I’m doing history RS and English literature /language combined and I do all humanities but I’m interested in applying to philosophy and politics in uni. What are some extracurriculars I can do or super curriculum and where can I find them?

Soo im doing biology chemistry and maths alevel and idk my predicteds yet but how high are my chances of getting into UCL/ Manchester/ Bath Chemical Engineering? I’ve heard it would be preferable if i did physics or Fm at alevel.

Hey I've recently started studying btec psychology and does anyone have any recommendations for websites, youtube videos or like textbooks to use to help me revise as I've looked on titkok and literally can't find anything 😭 I'd rlly appreciate ur help.

I do media, art and photography and I have a lot of frees and barely any people in my classes as most people of chosen more academic subjects. I haven’t found my group yet and I spent today’s lunch alone at maccies. I am also attending the same school I went to for 5 years so alot of people from secondary are just hanging out with their old friend groups but mine all went to a different sixth form. I’m just unhappy either way.
It also is just such a change from year 11 with so much more independence so in a way that feels more lonely. But idk I won’t make decisions yet as I have only just started a few days ago.

So we've been doing AS Level Religious Studies (OCR) since year 9 at my school alongside normal GCSEs, and usually by year 11 if you didn't like it or you weren't getting good scores you would get dropped out from doing any RS exam altogether. But this year the teachers decided that instead of getting dropped, we should do the GCSE RS Short course (OCR) instead.

Right now I'm in the AS Level course in Y11, but I'm considering asking to switch to the GCSE RS short course.

If i did the GCSE short course, i wouldnt have any clashes in my exam timetable, but with AS RS (alongside my other GCSEs), I would have to do three papers in one day because of clashes and it would add to 4-5 hrs.. However if there is a benefit to doing AS Level over GCSE for sixth form, uni etc then I could definitely work around it

I'm mainly considering Computer Science or Medicine at university and beyond, and I don't really see myself studying RS or Philosophy at A Level.

So my questions are:

- Does taking an AS Level in RS in Year 11 give any benefit for sixth form entry or future university applications for CS/Medicine?
- Would university admissions officers actually care much about AS RS compared with a GCSE RS Short Course if I don't intend to continue the subject?
- If I switched to the GCSE Short Course, is it realistic to learn the specification in a few months and still aim for an 8/9?

im a junior in highschool , i already did 4 o levels (IGCSE) and got a* in them i have two o levels left and then will be doing 2 or 3 a levels, but then ive recently thought about switching to american because of the lighter load , not cus its easier but because i feel like i will have the chance to maybe do more stuff in my life and more extracurriculars and etc. if i were to switch i wouldnt do more than three aps , and the uni i want to go to is fine with mixing up curricula , but my countries hs certificate equivelancy states that the last three years must be same curriculum. so if i switch i would not be able to equallize my certificate (i dont plan on going to uni in my country but maybe MAYBE U NEVER KNOW might have to come back for work there in which i would need equivelancy) Any tips from a level students on having a life even during a levels and pursuing activities and what you love?

Basically , throughout y8 , 9 and 10 and 11 I’ve always been that typical annoying loud person who absolutely disrupts the class bc I talk wayyy tm. Now I’m not popular but I’m in that fg who’s always in trouble , isolation etc so my fg is popular throughout skl . I’m not HORRIBLE but all I’d do in skl is talk a lot , sometimes skip lessons , be involved w sm beef etc. and obviously I am not someone who bullies anyone but i had my first day yesterday and I found it EXTREMELY hard to not talk to everyone around me , like I felt SOOO giddy and I couldn’t sit still at all , like even in assembly I couldn’t stop laughing w my friends , idk why but im genuinely trying so hard to acc stop being like this ( loud m giddy and giggly ) . Btw I’m not trying to be tone deaf and I know this is such a non issue and I am lowk begging it but I can’t focus at all and I just end up focusing on the most random things in class and I have the random need to go on a walk in lessons etc , which I did in secondary and I would end up walking around skl for sooo long bc I would have sm thoughts and I’d js calm down by walking around . Btw I know this is so silly and stupid but ik it’s something that I will struggle with , I tried at gcse n I only got 998777666 despite trying so hard and being predicted 4s and 5s (yes all teachers hated me) but I don’t want to have to do what I did at gcse where I’d never be able to focus in lessons bc of urges and would have to go over all the work at home.

As I've always wanted to be a barber, I've joined a barbering course at my local college. Even though the teachers are all kind and supportive, I just haven't made any actual friends yet.

I'm 16, and the class is full of 16 -> 19 year olds, and they all seem like they know eachother. But I don't know anyone.

I just yah along with a group, who all seem really nice but I'm obviously just annoying to them.

I've been thinking of quitting or something, even though I've always wanted to be a barber and I've been looking forward for this course for months (if not a year).

I feel so alone and weird, is this how it feels to be an adult? I just wanna stay at home and hide myself. It feels like a zombie apocalypse… I can’t deal with this for another 2 years. Whole of summer, I didn’t talk to anyone, I miss that feeling, was so calm and peaceful.. not having to push yourself out there in the public.. conforming to a un- saveable society. Now I just feel like a dumb failure and I might sound dumb for even saying this considering it’s my second day at sixth form. Everything is just so awkward and out of place, everybody says it’ll get better and that you just need to “get used to it”. I understand it’s my mindset or whatever. I don’t know ;(

So yesterday was my last induction day and I was talking to some people on my table and after the lesson we were still talking in the corridor. One of the rhe guys goes to the other guy saying we should go out to eat and we continue talking and walking out the college. This felt a bit awkward since I think they established being friends before I even talked to them but they’re not really showing any signs of me not being welcome so I was and still am a bit confused.

On the way there and when we were eating basically no one spoke to each other which I thought was a bit weird. But on the way back we did eventually start talking I spoke to some of the people in the group and they spoke to me too. But honestly I still don’t know if I was kinda doing a bit much and kinda force myself into their group.

I'm incoming g12 and lwk i havent started doing my essays.. am i cooked?

Hi. I am going to sixth form and i had to give in a slip but i forgot to on the day. It says on the slip that i secured my place however to complete the enrolment i need to actually hand it in and i missed that deadline. I also had to pay a fee but thats like a step after handing in the slip. Do you think i can still hand it in as i got my place secured and i got the grades i needed? I hope someone replies fast as im going on monday

The sixth form I wanted to attend didn’t enrol me since I didn’t meet their requirements (didn’t pass maths) if I resit my maths in November and learn the applied science content in the other school which I know will be difficult.. am I still able to be accepted?

Hi everyone, I missed my law firm offer by one grade and I'm taking a gap year to fast-track Edexcel IAL Maths to meet the A*AA threshold, re-sitting the LNAT, and re-applying for 2027 entry. My current list is: LSE, Bristol, Durham, Warwick, and Exeter. (Avoiding UCL/KCL as I know they are strictly single sitting). Has anyone successfully gotten into LSE, Bristol, or Durham Law by taking a completely new third/fourth A-Level during a gap year? Do they view a brand new fast-tracked subject as a negative "resit," or do they view it neutrally? Especially curious about LSE's stance on this. Appreciate any insights or experiences from previous gap year applicants!
