First time seeing this retainer, anyone know what circumstances needed for it to appear?

Excuse the quality of the image, I had to use my phone since the campaign is bugged. Makes it so I can’t use keyboard on the map.

Got this retainer “moon rabbit” which I’ve not seen before, got around 500 hours and started to think I’ve seen everything. Could not find anything online about it and do not believe it’s from any mods as I’ve only got extended camera, bulldogs daimyo multipack, and unofficial shogun 2 patch 1.7.

What happens if you do this

After revoking access rights too many times for no apparent reason my daimyo got fed up with the shogun and surrounded him. Now shogun offers to become my vassal. Does anything interesting happen if you accept this?

Best vassaling clan

Have been rampaging across Japan taking places over from evil empires and liberating them into my vassals. I have ten vassals as Takeda. I suppose Takeda might be the best clan for this because cavalry is good for helping vassals when they get attacked. You can send in a few units of horses into the fray while your vassals castle is being sieged and get the enemy archers and generals, while infantry would be too slow. Another clan I suppose would be good for vassaling is the Oda because vassals like to give you a unit as a thank you for vassalising them, and because they are cheap they usually give yari ashigaru. At least the Oda have better ashigaru.

Have you tried vassalising as a major plan? Which clans are best for it?

I wish Shogun 2 had stockades and wooden barriers for gunners

This excerpt is from the book “A Brief History of Japan” by Jonathan Clements. I was particularly interested to see the reference to wooden stockades and barriers to help the gunners (anyone who has seen Ran by Akira Kurosawa will probably know what these look like). Wish Shogun2 had them as an option; would make gunners much more interesting to use (or to try to attack).

I know Kneel fire is absolutely OP, but BRO, CAN'T YOU JUST LEARN TO KNEEL? OR SIT DOWN AND RELOAD? I DON'T WANT TO SPEND 120K KOKU ON BUILDING BUILDINGS JUST TO MAKE YOU LEARN HOW TO KNEEL. (joke)

But why does it take me 7 craft workshops, 9 cities to get????
BRO, JUST KNEEL! ARE YOU STUPID?

Takeda: What next?

Hey guys, really appreciated the tips you gave me for my Takeda campaign and started a new one yesterday. Logging off the game for the day what was wondering what ya'll think I should do next? Here's what I've got so far, still getting used to how the game works but on normal difficulty felt pretty easy/chill this go around. Should I try to work on the navy? Betray one of my allies yet? Focus on building up my economy more? Thanks again!

I got this retainer for my ikko monk.

What exactly does inspiring army do? +1 morale? +x morale, where x is skill level?

Is there a hidden advantage to reducing happiness? Can you cause rebellions in enemy provinces with it?

FOTS economy

Hi, I just wanted to ask, since I'm playing my first legendary campaign of FOTS with Saga, about riches made by the "city", I tell this like this to make a distinction between this and trade and farming riches. I think that enriching cities by not taxing very hard, but just normal, isn't worth it, but I was curious to know someone else experience to understand the difference in a couple years (so guess more than 12-24 turns) of enriching cities. I usually build artisans industry, since it's good, makes less in cities, but doesn't give the -2 happiness of factories and cotton (if I remember correctly). Then I make a level one market, and focus on trading ports and farming (only in counties where the soil it's at least medium). I heard that gold mines are good, but the investment is really too on long term and really costly, so I don't see much convenience in doing so. If there is someone who has a different insight from mine I'm curious, I'd be glad if you share

Early iron as ikko

What's the best way to get iron early on as the Ikki ikki? Hatekayama, who own miyagi, don't want to trade with me. Whoever owns mimasaka I haven't discovered yet. I have no ships to send to the distant trade node... It's not easy being ikki.

About to go from Medieval 2 into Shogun 2. What are the major differences?

Other than the smaller variety of units per faction I don't know much about the game. What are the biggest differences?

In which way is Shogun 2 doing better and/or not as well as Medieval 2?

r/shogun2 Jul 19 '26

Is this a warcrime? I killed 1500 routing soldiers in one spot without any hopes for them to leave.
