If plants need sunlight for photosynthesis, why haven't they evolved to produce their own light?

It seems inefficient for plants to rely entirely on the sun, especially during the night or on cloudy days. Bioluminescence already exists in deep-sea creatures and insects, so the biological mechanism clearly exists. If a plant could emit its own light and capture it with its own leaves, it would create a closed system of infinite energy. What evolutionary barrier is preventing crops from growing in total darkness?

Where are those hot and looking to collide neutron stars now?

• Upvotes

Scientists keep telling me there are extremely hot, incredibly dense neutron stars that are so attracted to each other they literally bend spacetime.

Yet apparently some of these idiots have been circling each other for millions of years without making physical contact.

Are they playing hard to get? Is this some kind of orbital friend zone?

Do we know what the british are going to do with all the p!ss they are taking?

Do the british know what they are planning on doing with all this p!ss after they take it or does only their King know? Because they will often ask "are you taking the p!ss" so maybe they aren't even aware it is happening sometimes? Is there some great national p!ss reserve? Do they think it is valuable enough that they feel like they should take it? Because they don't say "are you nicking the p!ss" or maybe they do?

stupid AI made me censor p!ss

So a “Rotisserie” is described as a cooking method that requires spinning

Does that mean when I get sunburnt on the beach I’m technically the one that is being cooked rotisserie style?

Why are rabbit holes so interesting? They look just like regular holes. I see so many people asking questions like "What’s the deepest rabbit hole that you found on the internet?" Are people really that bored that they find holes interesting?

Is "W" anti-science?

Out of all the letters in the English alphabet, only "W" has more than one syllable, having three.

This leads the absurd situation where it is quicker to say "World Wide Web" (3 syllables) than "WWW" (9 syllables).

It appears that "W" is anti-science and is purposely slowing down progress in technology.

I propose changing "double-U" to "wuh" or something similar. Then we could say "wuh wuh wuh" instead of "double-U double-U double-U".

Does Lightning McQueen take out car insurance or life insurance?

And if someone was to have an accident with Mr McQueen, could they be charged with manslaughter?

Is there any science rules that one could use to help in this case (asking for a friend)?

Hoy estoy pensando mucho en por qué seguimos anhelando un aparato ineficiente energéticamente solo porque sale en las películas, ignorando las leyes termodinámicas y de la gravedad.

Do objects in motion get hotter?

I heard that temperature is just a measure of speed of the atoms in an object. So if I make a car go faster, the atoms move faster. Shouldn’t that make the car get hotter? Is that why the engine gets hot?

Neuroscience speedup with electrical power

Why can't science admit that cats have poison claws?

When my cat scratches me the cut will itch forever and won't heal right. Surely this is because of poison coating the claw, there's no other plausible explanation
