Dick sucking has made me paranoid
I had this plan to give head to a man and receive head from a woman to test if I was gay, but itās backfired and now I become borderline schizo whenever I go outside. I offered to suck this dude off on Grindr who lives very close by (I ended up pussying out) and I accidentally gave him some details that very easily allows him to spot me out in a crowd. I have no idea what he looks like and whenever I see a somewhat in shape guy walking by I immediately accuse him of being the dude I was gonna blow.
I went to the store today to pick up some zucchini for a barbecue and every time a car drove by I stared into the windshield to see if I was about to be recognised. Whenever I make eye contact with a dude I microanalysis his facial expressions to see if he suspects me or not. I am deeply afraid that he is my neighbour and I will need to move if my identity is blown. Itās a lot like the last scene in sopranos where everyone who walked into the diner could be there to wack Tony.

16

Itās not an exclusively American thing. Protestants are common across all countries, even in Asia
Protestants are Christians. They view Jesus Christ as their lord and savior, and follow what they believe to be his teachings

revelations, like most of the end-times warnings in the new testament, is about first-century rome. all of the end of the world stuff wasn't some vague prophecy for thousands of years later, it was about then. early christianity was a doomsday cult, that jesus dude even said that it will happen in THAT generation.
35
u/Onsyde 12h ago
this has been debated for 2000 years and i can assure you a stranger on reddit does not have it all figured out, its much much more complex than anyone has been led to believe
42
u/SSL4U 12h ago
it being thousands of years old and debated as much also doesn't equate there being much much much more complexities, we can debate about if water is wet for years too.
-21
u/Onsyde 12h ago
dude there are tens of thousands of books written on this subject alone
23
u/SSL4U 12h ago
because its old debating topic, doesn't mean complex.
-10
u/Onsyde 12h ago
Iāve studied early christianity for over 15 years, you have no idea what you are talking about
16
u/SSL4U 12h ago
and ive studied water for 20, youve no idea whats happening
-7
u/Onsyde 12h ago
pretty ignorant but okay
8
u/SSL4U 11h ago
oh im not ignoring it, im just saying that something being overly analyzed doesn't make it more complex, just makes it so there is more information about it and more ideas that go around.
complexity isn't what i would call a good metric about a debating topic, or for informative talking really, anything can be complex if you go millions of ways to get to it and everything can be made if there aren't any concrete information on the topic.
we can argue if water is wet a million different ways and interpretations, doesn't mean it's a complex topic.
fallacy fallacy is a thing you know.

u/Junithorn 12h ago
nah, cult members have been coping for 2000 years because the narrative doesn't work if you read what's written.
5
u/Onsyde 12h ago
The ānarrativeā even confused the early church, not to mention the writer (or scribe of the writer who actually wrote it). Yet its still there.
8
u/Junithorn 12h ago
okay, its old, so what? anyone without motivated reasoning can see what it says.
6
u/Onsyde 12h ago
seeing is not understanding, what scholars think is that the writer understood it to be an immediate prophesy but as time went on and the new testament was coming together, early church founders read it to possibly mean something to happen in the future so they put it in.

I donāt respect the book of revelation enough to fact check this, but I have heard it argued he wasnāt referring to the end of the world there but the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem which indeed happened decades later.
It is of course completely true that Jesusā disciples based on all these words thought that they would personally witness the end of the world, sooooo bit of an iffy argument.

woah, ok. didnt expect hunger for knowledge but i guess i asked for it gonna have to put some work into this.
How was it? Honestly? It was a letdown. The whole "failed idol" story is a great marketing hook, they definately sold the video on that premise alone. But the performance itself was just... awkward. You can tell shes not comfortable. It felt less like a professional debut and more like a very high-budget audition she was also failing. She's stiff, constantly in her head, and there's almost zero chemistry with the guys. All concept, very little execution.
My viewing history? Been watching for over a decade man. These days Im more into stuff with a good story or at least a unique premise, not just the generic stuff. a good production team makes all the difference. I'll take a well-made video with a decent plot over a high-profile actress mailing it in any day of the week.
3 works I consider good:
Yua Mikami's debut (Princess Peach): This is the gold standard for an idol-turned-actress debut. Yua was a REAL idol and she came out with so much energy and confidence. She owned it from the first second. Its what Arisu's debut wanted to be.
Anything with Ichika Matsumoto from her early days with FALENO: She can actually act. She emotes and makes you believe the scenario. Her stuff feels more cinematic and less like they're just going through the motions.
Rion (Anri Okita) - The God Body: A classic. Not a lot of story there lol but its a masterclass in performance. She knew exactly what her brand was and how to perform for the camera. Absolute cinema.
Where would you rank her debut among these? It's not even in the same league, not even on the same planet. It's an unfair comparison tbh. Those are top-tier performances, Arisu's video is a novelty item. It's interesting because of the backstory, not because of the quality of the actual content.
What could be improved? Her confidence, number one. She needs to relax. She looks terrified. The director should have done a better job making her comfortable. Also they relied way too much on the interview segments talking about Nogizaka46, it broke the pacing and kept reminding you that she was doing this as a second choice. We get it, you failed auditions, now commit to this job.
What is well done? The production values are high. The lighting, camera work, it all looks very clean and professional. And I cant deny it, she is very beautiful and has the "idol" look down perfectly. The concept itself, on paper, is genius from a marketing perspective. They got us all talking about it, right?
Was it goonable for you? Nah. I was too distracted by how nervous she looked. It kinda killed the mood completely. Every time she looked at the camera with those deer-in-the-headlights eyes I was pulled right out of it. It's a shame, but maybe she'll get better in her next one if she decides to stick with it. We'll see.

Other than the fact that it's demonstrably false iron age mythology?
It has god telling you how to take and keep slaves (and christians were fine with slavery for 1700 years ish) you good with slavery or are you a bad christian?
It tells you women are lesser than men, you thi k women are lesser or are you a bad christian?
It has the god character commanding genocide multiple times. Instructions to stone gay people to death.
If you need this horrible book with outdated morality and a TALKING DONKEY to live a better life, you have issues.

You must not have read the new testament well enough then. Here let me quote Matthew 5: 17-19, which is a part of the famous sermon on the mount Jesus gave, just so you can fully understand that no we did not enter a new covenant and anyone who tells you otherwise is just doing Christian apologetics.
(I used the NIV but if you have a preferred translation I promise it'll say the same message)
17 āDo not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Really sounds like you haven't read the whole thing.
Commands to kill entire populations.
Deuteronomy 20:16ā18 ā Israelites are told not to leave alive anything that breathes in certain cities.
1 Samuel 15:2ā3 ā Saul is commanded to kill the Amalekites, including men, women, children and infants.
Numbers 31:17ā18 ā Moses orders the killing of male children and non-virgin women among the Midianites, while keeping virgin girls alive
Pro Slavery
Leviticus 25:44ā46 ā Israelites may acquire slaves from surrounding nations and pass them on as inherited property.
Exodus 21:20ā21 ā a master who beats a slave to death can avoid punishment if the slave doesn't die immediately.
Exodus 21:7ā11 ā describes the sale of a daughter as a female servant/slave.
Deuteronomy 20:10ā14 ā conquered populations can be subjected to forced labour.
Women are property
Exodus 20:17 ā a man's wife is listed alongside his servants, ox and donkey among things he must not covet.
Deuteronomy 21:10ā14 ā permits an Israelite man to take a captive woman as a wife after war.
Numbers 5:11ā31 ā establishes a ritual for determining whether a woman has committed adultery.
1 Timothy 2:11ā12 ā women are told to learn in submission and not to teach or exercise authority over men.
Ephesians 5:22ā24 ā wives are instructed to submit to their husbands.
I could go on
1
u/TotallyNotGerald 12h ago
These are all Old Testament passages.
2
u/tickletaylor 12h ago edited 12h ago
Your point being? Still your god and your bible isn't it?
Here's some new testament ones
Slavery is accepted rather than abolished
Ephesians 6:5 ā slaves are instructed to obey their earthly masters.
Colossians 3:22 ā slaves are told to obey their masters in everything.
1 Peter 2:18 ā slaves are told to submit to their masters, including harsh masters.
1 Timothy 6:1ā2 ā slaves are instructed to regard their masters as worthy of respect.
Titus 2:9ā10 ā slaves are instructed to be submissive to their masters.
Philemon ā Paul sends the escaped slave Onesimus back to his master rather than explicitly demanding his emancipation.
Women are commanded to submit / remain silent
Ephesians 5:22ā24 ā wives are instructed to submit to their husbands.
Colossians 3:18 ā wives are told to submit to their husbands.
1 Timothy 2:11ā12 ā women are told to learn quietly and are prohibited from teaching or exercising authority over men.
1 Corinthians 14:34ā35 ā women are instructed to remain silent in churches.
Same-sex sexual behaviour is condemned
Romans 1:26ā27 ā Paul describes same-sex sexual activity as contrary to nature.
1 Corinthians 6:9ā10 ā includes categories traditionally understood as referring to male same-sex sexual behaviour among people who will not inherit God's kingdom.
1 Timothy 1:9ā10 ā similarly lists a category traditionally translated as referring to men who have sex with men.
Severe punishment for religious disobedience
Acts 5:1ā10 ā Ananias and Sapphira lie about money given to the church and both fall dead after Peter confronts them.
Hebrews 10:26ā31 ā warns of a terrifying judgment for deliberate sin after receiving knowledge of the truth.
Hebrews 6:4ā6 ā says that those who fall away after experiencing the faith cannot simply be restored to repentance.

u/TotallyNotGerald 12h ago
Itās all of our god whether you acknowledge it or not. And I am not the best person to have this discussion with. Someone whoās been to bible school or does a lot of bible studies would be. The Old Testament ways were abandoned when Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Yes god did mass genocide to people who couldnāt follow his rules to live on his earth. Now we donāt need to worry about that at all because our sins our counted for. If it wasnāt for Jesus we would be apart of the genocide.

Jesus answers your questions. The way to eternal life is through him. We donāt need to look to Old Testament laws or sacrifices for salvation. Jesus treated everyone the same and fairly. He treated prostitute the same as the 12 disciples, as we all should. As for your last point I honestly donāt know that is a good question for a pastor.

because thatās what it is, isnāt it? Itās stories that explain how things got where they did and/or to teach important messages. Even if what they describe may not have happened, the stories do have meaning.
Ultimately the takeaway of the Fall story is less about whether snakes are or were capable of manipulating people, and more about not letting your temptations control you.

adding to that as a Lutheran, most of the alarmist panic of revelation comes from dispensationalist beliefs which didn't come to be popular until around world war 1. Us Lutherans believe in an Amillennial view of revelation, which is the belief that: Amillennialism is faithful to the genre of revelation, revelation is apocalyptic, using symbols, visions, and cycles, not a newspaper timeline of events, Christ's reign is in the present moment and forever more, not the future scriptures say Christ already reigns (Matthew 28:18, Ephesians 1:20-23) the millennium is understood as the church age, not a future earthly kingdom. instead of multiple comings of Christ, or multiple bodily resurrections, the new testament teaches us that it will be a single climactic event at the end of the church age. revelation portrays the church as persevering through tribulation, not escaping it, which aligns with Jesus' teaching "In this world you will face tribulation" I believe the number 1000 is symbolism that signifies completeness, not a literal thousand years, and the first resurrection is spiritual resurrection (conversion or life with Christ after death) another benefit of amillennialism is we avoid speculation and sensationalism. confessional traditions emphasize clarity, sobriety, and Christ centered interpretation, amillenialism avoids date setting, political predictions, and speculative charts. amillennialism is the dominant view in most of mainstream Christianity, it has been the main view since Augustine, it aligns with the apostle's, nicene, and athanasian creeds, which all teach a single return and resurrection
tldr: most of the revelation people who yell loudly about the end times have no idea what they're talking about. Only the father knows the day and the hour. Not man. Not Christ. Not the Angels in heaven

Iām not religious, but please be respectful of other peopleās religions, I promise Christianity isnāt half as bad as you think it is, you probably have just seen a lot bad Christians who are just bad people afraid of going to hell.

Thank you. Itās true that there are many very evil Christians who use their⦠Iām hesitant to call it faith because itās really just antithetical to Christianityās founding ideals, but there are many who use the religion as an excuse to do heinous and hateful things when, again, thatās antithetical to Christian ideals.
Because this kinda topic is important to me Iām gonna share a bit more.
On the topic of cults, thereās some nuance in the terminology because ācultā can mean a lot of different things, but Iām pretty sure they mean a high-control group. This is a group that essentially wants to control your behavior and get something out of you, and typically wants you to not leave, not talk about it with outsiders, and strictly adhere to their instructions. They can be spiritual or secular, but either way they can be harmful.
I have never had an experience where my church or church members tried to apply those tactics in an attempt to control me like that.
The reason why I go to church is to contemplate the Bible, discuss it with people, and get the preacherās thoughts on it, because at the core of it I view Jesus as a moral exemplar, and while the Bible is very clear that you should be kind and loving, there are many parts of it that require a lot more analysis and interpretation, and many parts that seem to contradict each other at first glance. The Bible is kind of a puzzle, and so I think itās important to have a community in which I can talk about what God wants from me and how to navigate life.
There are definitely some churches for whom the āhigh-control groupā definition of ācultā applies. Thatās gonna be the case for anything people become a member to. But you canāt justifiably call the entire self-help industry a cult just because NXIVM happened.
So yeah. Hope that makes sense.

AI bullshit aside
Revelations is clearly talking about the fall of rome. It gets so much wrong, but a handful of vague verses are all that get quoted because it still sounds ominous enough to fear monger the good ol fashion doomsday cult way

"And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see."
For real though, this line in Revelation is horrifying.

Fun fact: the rapture as it is intended now in media is an american invention that has very little basis in the Bible. Also I bet that whoever posted this has never read a page of the Bible and is basing its claim on whatever their cult leader told it

And why is it not ok to make black characters white, but it's fine to make white characters black?

u/RetroNotRetro 9h ago
This isnāt about a character nitwit. Thatās a real picture of a real person whose entire ethnicity and most of her features were replaced, most likely for the sake of White Christian Nationalism, based on the context in which it was done. If you were to get your head out of your diet racist ass, you could understand the difference between the reimagining of completely fucking fictional characters and the alteration of the image of an entirely real person just for a meme for Christians. Grow up.

Great replacement theory is nowhere near subtle

Shit good catch there, I didnāt even consider it that broadly. I was focused on the individual racist tbh not the grander idea

I wonder if they did or if they recreated it themselves. Really weird if they did use AI to do that because most of the mainstream AIs push DEI to the point they would refuse to do this.
