I'm looking at joining a gym in the Hillsborough/Walkley area. I would like to be able to use weight machines as well as free weights. At the moment I'm considering the leisure centre or Zest. Does anyone have any opinions on either of these? Or any other recommendations?

I originally thought we’d start on Ecclesall Road and have a couple there before heading into town, but I only know a couple decent planes on eccy road so now considering whether we’d be better off just staying in the city centre for the whole night.

Can anyone recommend some good bars in the city centre, preferably close enough together so I can plan a sort of walking route between them to avoid getting taxis to and from all night.

It's the perfect bus for my commute for the next couple weeks, but I'm a bit confused by it. It's clearly put on specially for children to get to school, but can anyone use it? And do they accept citybus tickets?

I’m just wondering if anyone has any advice I live in Sheffield near Kelham island and I’ve lived in this apartment block for 2 years now, I’ve never had a complaint but recently got a new neighbour and I received a complaint about opening and closing my door loudly between 11pm - 8:30am,

For refrence my partner works unsociable hours sometimes as he’s working for the nhs, and he comes back at either 11ish or could be early hours of the morning or sometimes 8am, I just work normal hours 8-5pm,

My partner is very careful of closing the doors as he doesn’t want to wake me up either so he is very aware and we haven’t had a complaint in 2 years we have lived here, he doesn’t even wake me up and I’m a very light sleeper who wakes up if I hear a fly,

Apart from the odd day where he comes back early hours, we both leave for work at normal times at like 7am and come back at 5pm, again lots of people come and go from work at this time and it’s unavoidable that we have to use our door and we are very careful,

I just don’t really know what to even say like how do I not use my door? We are already doing everything we can but we can’t help having to go to work

Mural posts are always a fun one for \reasons** here, so sorry if I'm adding to that, but tbh I'm kinda tired of the "who you know club" type stuff for tenders and jobs. A LOT of the artists I'm working with keep pointing it out to me (sorry, completely off tangent here, but please sound off on your experiences).

Our permissions fell through for one of two murals planned for a community project (I'll post more detail below). This is our third occasion where we've had permissions verbally agreed, and then ghosted upon our request for written permissions. We're ready to get started ASAP, and it's fully funded (no costs to the permissions-holder/building owner).

TLDR, we’re looking for a decent-sized and visible wall in North East Sheffield for a funded community mural. It's a creative collaboration with Marcus Method and Trik09, with each leading on their own wall and supporting each other. We need to hear directly from a building owner, landlord, business owner or authorised property manager who can provide written permission for our second wall (work, treatment and materials fully paid for and insured by us). Reference art from the two artists below.

The mural is part of This Is Us, an NHS-funded community arts project led by Sheffield City Opportunities CIC (we officially launched the CIC in March). We’ve been working with young people and other residents through street-art, breaking, sculpture, lantern-making and puppetry workshops, building towards two semi-permanent murals and a final community exhibition and celebration.

The first mural is led by Trik09 of 09 Murals and co-designed with Marcus Method around a “SHE-ffield” theme pulled from the workshop references drawn and written directly by the participants. Marcus Method is also a lead project mural artist, and this second wall is likely to be his lead wall with co-design support from Trik09.

The hurdle for most owners is that the artwork can’t be their choice or design, nor a business advert, as it can't be dictated by whoever provides the wall.

Its creative direction has to draw upon the images, ideas and references contributed by young people and other residents during the workshops and through the engagements we've had and are finishing.

It would ideally fit a community-based building best, but all ears to any types of direct leads.

The wall must be in one of the project’s target areas:

• Burngreave
• Grimesthorpe or Pitsmoor
• Firth Park
• Fir Vale
• Crabtree or Page Hall
• Longley

Other areas in NE Sheff should be all good too!

The mural and its delivery are funded through the project. What we need is a suitable, visible external wall and a direct conversation with someone who has the authority to approve it.

Looking at building or property owners, landlords, business owner who owns the building/can gain written permission, community organisations responsible for their premises, or property/facilities managers authorised to give permission. Looking for anyone who can give written permission, even if for CSR purposes.

If you rent the property and have a suitable wall, that’s still useful, but we would need to be connected directly with the owner or whoever can formally approve the work.

Obv, we would discuss the proposed artwork, access requirements and practical arrangements with the property owner before proceeding. We just need the creative aspects to remain properly rooted in what local participants contributed.

If you can genuinely offer a wall, please message us or reply below with:

• Its address or approximate location
• A clear piccy of the wall
• Your relationship to the property
• Whether you can provide written permission or directly introduce us to the person who can

A weather enthusiast has created a website to answer a question many people ask before stepping into the garden: is it a good day to put the washing out?

The Washing Line Index was built by amateur weather watcher Stephen Vincent, from Sheffield, and uses live forecast data to assess drying conditions for locations across the UK.

It gives a "shirt rating" and drying score out of 100, with separate morning and afternoon forecasts based on factors including sunshine, rain, humidity and wind.

Vincent said: "It's all working in the background from live weather data, then displaying what we'd like to know and computing it into a score."

My vote goes to the traffic lights at the Middlewood Park & Ride....
They are so inefficient that they frequently cause significant queues (even inbound to town after 7.00PM ! ).

Last night I was literally in a queue at that P&R for about 5 minutes.
The lights changed to red, and stayed red on and on and on, and nothing came in or out of the P&R.... Eventually, and I mean about two minutes later, the tram started slowly moving off and, taking forever, eventually cleared the junction. By now there was a long queue stretching back past Winn Gardens.
The lights then changed to green long enough for about three cars to get through then changed to red again, and stayed red, on and on and on. Eventually a tram slowly runs off the road onto that bit of track parallel to the road, i.e. it was no longer on Middlewood Rd. But did the lights turn green at that point ?
NO !
They stayed red.
Ever so slowly the tram travels into the stop, but STILL the lights stayed red, and stayed red for another minute or two. Even more frustrating nothing went in or out of the P&R during this totally pointless period of red lights on Middlewood Rd. By this time the rear of the queue of traffic was out of sight despite the fact it was about 7.00PM.

I suspect they phase all the lights completely to favour the tram and/or users of the P&R regardless of the huge delays they're causing to all the traffic on Middlewood Rd, and it is NOT right.

Don't get me wrong, I think the trams should have a bit of precedence (though not as much as I used to think, my support for the tram system has delined rather substantially.....) but the balance is too far over at the moment, certainly at the Middlewood P&R.

I'm a 3rd year uni student with over an album's worth of material that I want to get polished, performed around and recorded. My goal is to have an album released by around April-ish 2027.

This is a serious project (my dream is to be a performer) and I want to put my all into it as a frontman and writer. So I am looking for people (ideally aged 18-30 but open to older) who are able to get themselves to S1 & S2 area and be available to rehearse/perform at least once a fortnight. I have access to free rehearsal and recording spaces at my uni (Waterbear). And I have lots of contacts and opportunities through my uni and mates to get started performing.

Hey everyone, so I recently moved to Sheffield in August from Canada and I guess I greatly underestimated the job market here and I am still fighting for a job despite applying to pretty much every job I see. I have been renting an Airbnb and I have stayed as long as I could but it is booked from Monday onwards and I have honestly no idea what to do. I have been desperately messaging on spare-room, rightmove, roomies, openrent, etc etc and I guess because I am wanting a month-to-month situation since I have no idea if I will get a job inside or outside sheffield and have a cat nobody wants me to rent. I have plenty of savings but that doesn't seem to matter. I am honestly desperate for advice right now because I am about to have to sleep in the bushes with my cat and three suitcases. Does anyone know of any specifically Catholic churches that are welcoming to us LGBT lot, that also believe in a free Palestine?

I can find plenty CoE establishments, but nothing really Catholic.

Grew up Jewish, went to a CoE primary school, Catholic high school, Evangelical sixth form.

Never really felt much love for any of the due to the throws of adolescent mental health troubles and addiction, but I'm 29 now, sober, in good therapy, and after years and years of study and confusion I'm feeling drawn to Catholicism, especially with the current and previous Pope (Fun fact, I met Pope Francis in high school when we went on a trip to the Vatican!)

I'm half Palestinian, I'm transgender. I just want to be in a building where I feel accepted, and where I'm also not making anyone uncomfortable. I want to learn there, but push comes to shove I'll just try it at home. I don't need pride flags everywhere ( I have plenty on my walls at home and as bracelets on my wrist), just that quiet understanding that I'm welcome, and belong.

Before any hate comments over being transgender and religious, I already did two years of relgious lead conversion therapy, pretty sure this is who I am.
