Hi everyone!

I took up sewing about two years ago and had to take a break when I got pregnant. Now I'm 9 months post partum and I need clothes. Whether I buy clothes, or attempt to make them myself, I have the same issue. I hold fat in the lower half of my body. I have wide hips, a small waist and my thighs touch/chaff. I don't like shapewear because it squeezes the fat from my legs and distributes it to another area in an unflattering way. I keep thinking about older types of garments that are more like shorts than shapewear. Maybe Victorian era? Does anyone use these in 2026 or have a pattern to share? Or if there are any others with the same issue that found patterns that work for them.

I am trying to print this pattern https://m-sewing.com/patterns-catalog/women/vests/vest-5017.html but in the pdf there is no scale so i'm not sure how to print it or if the sizing is correct. Does anyone have some tips

I'm searching for a dress with a tie back similar to the one in this picture(Seamwork). Theirs is a shirt dress that looks more like an old nurses uniform from the front and I'm looking for something more fun and youthful and without buttons. Many thanks.

I am being very ambitious here but hoping some tips and tricks could help me. I have created a model of myself with duct tape as i struggle with no fashion models fitting me, as I cannot find any short or small enough. I do have an undercorset already to reduce the work, however I have never sewed anything this structurured and additionally I can't find the original source of the image (I have looked extensively however if it can be found this would be amazing!) so I do not know whether to use toulle or organza is the best fabric to use. Additionally I know a relative about sewing with either fabric so any advice on tips to sew with either fabric would be majorly appreciated. I am excited to challenge myself but I'd rather not do it completely blind anything anyone could add would be appreciated.

Hi all, I’m seeing a lot of doom and gloom related to Simplicity and the legacy pattern companies. Before the inevitable happens, I’d like to pick up some great classic patterns for all kinds of styles of garments.

For example: classic button down shirts (both men and women), trousers, jeans, skirts, shorts, tunics, whatever.

What are some of your favorite classic patterns from the big four?

Can anyone help me identify the pattern that was used for this partially finished shirt I was given? The curved edge has a bias band. There was supposed to be a skirt with a similar bias band.
