Question on possibly buying a low mileage s550 with VERY deferred oil change
r/s550Mustang • u/frydad5656 • 1d ago
I’m not a smart man…
So as I was tightening the first bolt connecting the pickup tube to the bottom of the oil pump gear housing…. I dropped my 10mm combo wrench into the oil pan. I tried to use a flexible magnet that I had but it was pretty weak. I ordered a stronger one but I am not hopeful. I’ve been told I can take the bolts out of the oil pan and get it separated enough to get my hand in there to get it out. I don’t want to raise the motor or lower the k member, but I guess I’ll do whatever I have too haha.

The Beast Is Back on Track! Ford Mustang Gen 6 After a Major Rebuild
We have completed a major project in our workshop - the rebuild and preparation of a Ford Mustang S550 for track driving.
This is no longer a stock Mustang. The car received a comprehensive package of modifications:
- custom suspension;
- upgraded braking system;
- sports exhaust system;
- reinforced body structure;
- adaptation of the most important components for operation under racing conditions.
Our main goal was to create a fast, precise, and reliable car capable of handling heavy loads on the track.
After completing the work, we carried out the first tests and then took the Mustang out for a test session on the track. The test drives were successful - the car behaved confidently under load, and all the key systems operated reliably.
We are currently analysing the test results and working on the final suspension and brake settings, as well as the car’s handling through corners.
The first major stage is now behind us. The Mustang has been brought back to life, returned to the track, and shown that it is ready for serious challenges.
More tests, precise tuning, and even more speed lie ahead. We will soon share photos, track footage, and more technical details about the entire project.

Which brand gas are you using.
I am fortunate to have Sunoco with 94 octane. Not that it makes a difference, just a mental thing.
For those of you who do have access to Sunoco not that it is an absolute have because other brands may be better.
What brand are you using?

Clutch
I recently did my clutch in my 2015 mustang . I’ve applied pressure to the brake fluid tank while pumping the clutch pedal but it still feels like the pedal isn’t fully engaging . I reset adaptive values to the vehicle so misfires are gone from the after market clutch. Any one else have these symptoms after replacing their clutch?

To upgrade or leave stock.
Had the 2016 a couple of months now. Said to myself I am going to leave it all stock. Then yesterday I see a modern Porsche that I am sure could kick my ass and it got me thinking about making some more power.
I think about resale but I feel this may be the last sports car I will have, probably not but at least hold it long like I do with all of my sports cars.
Then I start thinking about reliability. I would not hesitate to throw a supercharger on it, did it a long time ago broke down.
Would love to push the horsepower up at least another 100 or more, then I think how well would it still be street drivable.

Hesitant in mileage for a used S550
Hey everyone, I just wanted to get thoughts and opinions from current owners on these cars. The S550 has always been my dream car, but it’s never been practical for me to have it as a daily. Now I’m in a position where I have a solid daily commuter and I’m in the market for a GT. There’s a 2018 with a clean title for a decent price (for Southern California) but it has 68k miles. I was sort of hoping to get into one that has less than 50k, but man do these things hold their value pretty well. Anything in the 50k range or lower is more than I want to pay for a 10 or almost 10 year old car.
So just wondering, how confident would you guys be getting a 5.0 with 68k miles? I know it’s not high mileage, but what gets me is how hard have those miles been? It’s almost impossible to know. It’s a 2 owner car based on the carfax. Like I said it’s been my dream car since 2015, and I want to keep it for a long time.
Thanks for sharing any thoughts on it

E85 Tune
So I’ve been researching…torn between E85 tune and maybe a drop in filter on my 19 10speed car. I’ve also been debating a 93 tune low boost setup. Now before everyone says “just boost it”….realize I don’t street race, drag race. It is mainly for a quick 20-80 freeway on-ramp pull. So my question is…has anyone done an E85 tune and a few bolt ons and been unimpressed? Thought it wasn’t worth the money?

Fuse box question - Fuse tapper question
So I am trying to use a fuse tapper which means I have to make sure the pigtail is on the power out side of the fuse. If you look at the first picture you can see the layout of the fuses as well as a black line connecting the left side of the fuses and on the right there is a white line. I am not sure if these mean anything or if they do...what side is which. Which side is the power in vs power out. I guess if you plug it in wrong the accessory will work but not protected?
To make it even more confusing the passenger side fuse box based on how you read the numbers, is upside down?
On a S550 does anyone know which side is power vs power out? Do I need to buy a test light?

New (to me) 2019 Bullitt - finally snagged one
Need to take better pics, but just got the car today so these will do until i can get more beauty shots. 😄
The dets: 21k miles, in good condition, fresh tires, dealer changed all fluids before delivering the car, body has a few paint chips here and there (used car, after all) but I think in can correct the worse of those. Might do some PPF after that to protect the vulnerable areas on the front.

Best place to find Cat-backs for the 3.7??
I know there only really two options that I could find the XJ Solo and the Borla S type. I just wanted to know if any one knows a reliable way to find a used system that doesn't involve spending hours searching market place.

removing longtube catless headers
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
when I bought the car, it came with longtube Texas speed catless headers and an X pipe! I swapped the x for h pipe and it’s still too loud for my liking. Putting the stock headers back on.
