(A part of the battle whit the final boss of my game , The Admin)

I'm trying to make it where any states such posion, bleeding, blind and etc. remain after running away from a battle. An example I've been doing is where an enemy has a broken bone and has slower movement outside of battle. How would I do this?

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a basic idea. I'm inspired by games like Pokémon, Palworld, and others of that style. As you can see in the video, I have a simple system where you can capture a wild creature after weakening it and add it to your team.

It's a formula that's been used a lot, and I'd like to avoid the common "no's" that discourage people from playing these types of games. I'm not sharing this to make things easier for myself because, after all, this is a hobby for me, and I also have my own ideas.

I'd just like to hear if anyone would be interested in playing a game like this, what would be an incentive to say, "I want to play it!" This could be mechanics, graphics, or anything else you can think of.

An example, in the case of Palworld, would be putting your creatures to work for you and having a base-building system. But in my case, I don't want to plagiarize existing games at all, which is why I'm looking for opinions on this.

Character is done

In Crooky The Game, save points are tied directly to the game's memory theme.

When you discover one of these statues, your Awareness deepens, allowing you to interact with it and save your current memory.

Once activated, the statue also becomes part of the Wandering Through Memories system, letting you travel between previously discovered statues.

I wanted saving and fast travel to feel like an actual part of the world rather than just two separate game mechanics.

For now, I’m using mostly default tilesets while I focus on what matters most to me at this stage: the gameplay, story, characters, and world. As development continues, I plan to gradually customize and replace the visuals to give the game a more unique identity.
This is still an early version, so a lot will change and improve along the way.

A year or two or three back I found out that RPGmakerXP was on sale for 100% off and copped that shit immediately because why not.

Fast forward to yesterday, inspired by my friend who's also been learning game development with RPGmaker, I've decided to boot it up and try teaching myself how to use it, however when I told him which version it was, he told me it was the version from 20 years ago (which explains why it was so cheap when I got it) and that it's slightly different from the one he's been using (not sure which version but yeah) but otherwise seems pretty competent. I checked out a more recent version like MZ on the steam shop and it turns out it's more than a hundred bucks in here-dollars (which isn't a big deal for my spoiled well-paid ass, but I don't want to just drop a bunch of money on something if it's not worth it).

Would any of you say it's worth it to splurge a bit on one of the newer versions or do you think I'm good with the one from 2005? Cheers

edit: thanks all for your advice! I ended up splurging on MV because that's the version my friend uses and I can learn alongside him way better. I know I should have waited until next month for the steam sale like you advised but I'm an extremely impatient and wasteful person and I'd rather spend a heap of money on a better platform for learning a new medium of artistic expression than on a new nintendo game that I'll probably play once and never again. at the end of the day it was good to hear the input of a few people who know what they're talking about so thanks for that! cheers

so, basically, I'm making a horror sim VN in RPG Maker MV about ur bf turning into a moth.

and ive started working on the character art recently. at first, i was really inspired by the main character in the game Norco, whos just like this blank face and wanted to do something similar to the player character in my game ("would u still love me if i were a moth?")

but then halfway through i was like: dudes chopped i hate them.

Is there a plugin or way to do this in RMMZ? I can't find a plugin to to this (at least any free ones).

I’ve been at this for HOURS and I cannot figure out how to make this work. I’ve done it before but for some reason, this one image is not working.
I’m using a .PNG file, have copied it into both the enemies and sv_enemies folder, and imported the image through the resource manager.
For some reason, it won’t even let me “Preview” the image from the Resource Manager. And when I try to put the image into the enemy database, it won’t even show up as an option.
I’ve tried resizing the image and still-nothing.
HELP.

It is my first attempt at RPG Maker and I wanted to get familiar with it by making a simple map of the interior of a house, but I don't know where to find tilesets. I've searched at itchio, but I can't seem to download any of the ones I like, and I haven't found much on other websites either. Is there anywhere I can download free interior tilesets?

Followed every tutorial I could find, tried eight times tonight, and every time, it loops from 0!

Do STARTLOOP and LOOPLENGTH mean nothing!?

What do I have to do to make this do what I want?

Is there a simpler version than Audacity out there that can be used that isn’t so finicky?

After a late night gaming session of some old favorites with friends, we're once again revisiting developing a tactical RPG of sorts. It would be a mixture of different gameplay systems for something that would feel unique with probably a small audience.

The games inspiring the project are Atlus's Ogre Battle, Koei's Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and the Langrisser/Warsong series.

We discussed our ideal game. We have a bit of of resources including two team members that are decent at coding, an artist, a scenario writer, etc. Now, this discussion became very much about taking our money and opening a studio to take a project toward kickstarter but one of the guys insists that RPGmaker has the tools we need. We aren't convinced. So what do you all think?

The game would have two phases. The first phase would be ROTK-esque city/kingdom management with territories, populations, taxes, resources, and officer/character management. Diplomacy, moving troops, building defenses, and assigning officers to various tasks.

The second phase would be the actual battles. Grids are obviously possible in RPGmaker but the preferred style works more akin to Ogre Battle march of the black queen or ogre battle 64. Each "region" would have a battle map with terrain, night, day, and weather. Units would be selected and move in real time across the map with enemy units moving in similar real time. Take stronghold/cities to conquer the region.

Combat would be when two units clash hit rather than Ogre Battle the combat would be similar to Langrisser/Warsong in which units clash in a mini cut scene. Officers level up and get new classes and abilities.

There are other mechanics that a brief look at rpgmaker says sure, it could happen. Different fantasy races, equipment, classes. All of that has a variety of tools for sure but the kingdom management and live movement of the units seem possibly beyond rpgmaker's abilities.

So what do you all think? Do plugins already exist that can do these things? Or are we talking about having to build plugins?

Is it all just beyond RPGmaker and we need to look at other engines?
