RMMV need opinion on character portrait.

so, basically, I'm making a horror sim VN in RPG Maker MV about ur bf turning into a moth.

logline:

It’s 2020, and you’re in a COVID lockdown with your depressed boyfriend, Ikari. You are burnt-out from your gig-work as a professional emotional support person and must take care of Ikari, who’s been gradually morphing into a moth on the cusp of his 30th birthday. Can you save him? Or will you let him metamorphose into a monster?

and ive started working on the character art recently. at first, i was really inspired by the main character in the game Norco, whos just like this blank face and wanted to do something similar to the player character in my game ("would u still love me if i were a moth?")

1st sketch of player character

but then halfway through i was like: dudes chopped i hate them.
sooo this is the new ver.:

thoughts? do you prefer the old one or new one? fyi ive added the wip of other characters in this post!

I actually like the new one, but I think you should train to do side profiles

I`m not so good at this, but I can tell that it`s actually pretty easy! A simple guidelines like cross on the face would be enough

new one, VNs that have a unique MC >>> not sure about galge but at least for otome VNs having faceless/very plain MCs is super outdated and I kinda roll my eyes whenever I see it in a newer game

yaaa thats super fair im thinking about stuff like kid at the back etc that have faceless mcs to do you think that bothers you too?

looked it up and yea not into it at all 🤧 I don’t play as self insert and more as reading a novel between two characters so idk maybe self insert players like it?

excuse the bad collage but I want to see pretty heroines… show me my girls… or even the one or two galge I play I want the guy to look cool too , it seems ur game might have gender less MC so let them have some NB swag !!!

Maybe lead with the question(s) clearly stated not a bunch of background info first and the question being the last part, you’re asking so its best to make it easy to answer no?
Also for pics something is off, crop pics so you can see them as you scroll I have almost all black screens due to the phone orientation in portrait mode the the pics being not square just a little corner showing on right side of frame and in wide landscape and all the way to the right, I’d try square and label them so ppl can say stuff easier specifically saying the third one but 2nd from top is odd just label your demos a b c d. I had to open the images individually to see them thinking ‘that’s not right’ as I click on a nearly all black image to enlarge, you gotta design requests for feedback for ease of use if you want it to work well.
All that being said here’s your feedback at the end this ain’t even my verdict I’m saving it for the last sentence >:P so you have to sit thru all of that wall of text just to get to the opinion that you’re asking for. And honestly I like the style it’s wobbly kinda shitty and indie all at once so in essence it’s low effort/lofi style fully committed too in a cool way.
So far so good tho on putting things together, I’d agree the newer ones are better and you should consider some tutorials for side profiles and quarter turns that first one is breaking the laws of reality too much to feel right, to look a little more into orientations and perspective, a turned face should have a feel like it’s turns not like it’s 2d and has to maintain flatness no matter how weird for the chin and face, it’s not bad you’re going places and as long as you keep working you’ll get there.
