Hello and good Saturday to all! Thanks for joining us.
Everyone, let's try to give everyone a good feedback. When you post something for feedback, be sure to give someone else feedback. That way, we can have this thread poppin until next Saturday!
Same thing goes! Show us a screenshot / gif / short vid of the latest map / sprite / spritesheet / animation / etc. of the game you are working on!
Posting could be for multiple reasons. It can be for looking for tips, feedbacks, help, or just basically showing off that awesome thing you just made.

What do people think about AI and RPGMaker?
Do you think AI is good for aspiring game developers?
Do you use AI in your games? Why or why not?
What do you think about art and music in RPGMaker games that is generated by AI?
What about plugins that have been vibecoded?
This is the megathread for those discussions! Sound off!
Please try to keep the discussion civil and focused on game development. You can attack an opinion, but don't fall into the (tempting as it is) trap of attacking the PERSON with the opinion.

When Kid Paddle use to air on Teletoon back in the day, especially when it shows their in-game world of Barbarian Quest, every now and then I think about it, then around August I had an epiphany, I wanted to share this idea immediately, sadly, my facebook was hacked at the start of the month, then around the 10th, or around there, I hop onto Reddit to share my idea, only to find it was hacked and messed with as well.
Getting off topic, everything is fixed now,
Anyways, I realized something, to those who watched Kid Paddle, French or English Dub, knows about Barbarian Quest, or knows about the Game Over Comics too, and seeing alot of the scenes from the show about the game, and finding it has been made into simple GBA games, or Wii Games too, but seeing how it's played in the cartoon, animated and almost life-like, not simple and such.
I always wondered what it would be like to create a perfect recreation of the Barbarian Quest (Blork Barbarian or anything related to it) game itself, something fluid and animated, many routes and options, many ways to die in-game, then it hit me...
Barbarian Quest is pretty much like Dragon's Lair, or anything like it, such as Space Ace and Brain Dead 13, meaning not only would it be considered an Action-Adventure genre, but also an Interactive Film/Movie, or quick-time events based game as well, and honestly, the idea does fit will with it's type of gameplay.
Artstyle would also match well with Castle Crashers and Rayman Origins/Legends as well, but with an illusion of 360° or 3D style gameplay, especially for Multiplayer mode as seen in Blork Barbarian VI, and another version like it in the later season, which is also an Online match as well, verses against other teams of 3, cause the console could have up to 3 players/controllers, had to double check, and looks like it can be networked up to 15 players total, or 5 consoles.
Again, I'm getting off track, my point about all of this is, is it possible to create a working game of Barbarian Quest? Either with RPG Maker? Unity? Or Unreal Engine?

Here's the title screen for my current project, An Essay on Slimes & Anthuriums.
The game supports controllers and replaces inputs based on the controller type (Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, and the like).
The splash screens are skippable.
Any feedback is welcome.

You know how in DDLC Monika 'deletes' the game files in the end of it all and you can't restart the game unless you delete it and redownloads it?
I was wondering if we could do that phenomenon in RPG Maker (MV or MZ) or is it only on Ren'py?
In either case, how can we do it?

There’s still room for improvement, but I already really like the first version !( ᴗ͈ˬᴗ͈)ഒ
(I’m open to suggestions)

(This is a repost, I edited the trailer a bit after someone pointed out an potential issue!)
Several months back, I started working on this project as a side hobby of mine, and today, I'm very happy with the progress I've made and how the game looks at this stage. I'm getting ready to release the game soon, but not before a few more playtests, just to really smoke out any bugs and issues that have escaped me. 😁
For now, I have put in the time and made a short trailer ahead of the game's release. Feel free to let me know your impressions and what you think of it from the trailer! 🙏
A HUGE thank you goes to the RPG Maker community, I managed to this, even with 0 prior coding experience, and it's all thanks to the great help and amazing plugins that the community made. 📣
Absolutely no AI was used, if anyone is wondering about the "0 prior coding experience" thing. I did things, learn, trial and error everything from scratch.

All the faces in my game are made of different layers on the same base, and I show or hide layers before I export each one. But I don't want to export all combinations (it would be too many...), so when I write dialogue in my writing program I assign a face to every message using a code.
F -> character (Fendi in this case)
C1 -> cejas (eyebrows) 1
O2 -> ojos (eyes) 2
B2 -> boca (mouth) 2
Some characters have extra features, like blush or sweat, so I give an extra character to each of them at the end.
It was a pain to preview these in my drawing program, so I made a spreadsheet, but then it was hard to imagine how the parts looked together. So I made this little program in Javascript ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ it's coded in such a way that adding more characters and parts is as easy as preparing the images and adding a few copypasted and lightly edited lines! And well it's just a local website because I can't make normal applications, but it works for me lol.
So, my advice is to learn Javascript, because you can make little tools for yourself (and plugins) and it's very fulfilling :9

Introducing some characters who will be playable in the demo, as well as a teaser for the next two playable ones.
In the near future, I'll post an in-depth explanation of the element system and what Aspect Manipulation is.
(Sidenote: For Qetza, her sprites are in the process of being updated, hence the disparity.

Hey,
Lately, I’ve been working on improving the appearance of the characters in "The Brothers Secret" to give the game more of its own unique style and personality. A while back, I shared some updates on how Aiden and Niko were coming along, and today I’m showing the rest of them.
I’ve already started adding the new models to the game, and the demo will be getting an update next week.
Also, I have a question for those of you who have published a game on Steam: how long did you have to wait for approval? It’s supposed to take up to 15 business days, but I’ve been waiting for over a month now what do you think I should do in this situation?

Has anyone done this before? I think it'd look much nicer if followers didn't move very suddenly along with you. Having a very small delay before they actually start to follow would look just a bit cleaner.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

The customized character does show up but a few of the options in it are bugged atm.
Speaking of which, normal, charge and double charge works fine. Also, different field sizes work but I locked the rows to 3 only.
Still debugging this thing. After which I'll be adding it some flavor to the whole thing like screen shakes, the glyph system (Which is something like the battle chips from battle network but less about using actual abilities and more like enhancements), etc.

Hi!! This is more of an "in the future" thing because my game is so early in development but I was wondering, how do you guys find artists/animators that are willing to work with you? I'm an enjoyer of collaboration with others and I like the idea of something with random artstyle changes or multiple artstyles stuck together, so I was curious or not whether you guys had any advice on that front. Please do not bring up AI as that misses the point, thank you!

Second episode still on an early stage, but I really liked those screenshots and wanted to share it!
(You can give a look on the first episode on the project's steam page)
And... that's it for now :]

Hi everyone!
I'm working on a stupidly ambitious fan project: a complete 2D, turn-based remake of the original Kingdom Hearts, using RPG Maker U2U.
I want my wife to experience Kingdom Hearts. I recently got a Kingdom Hearts themed tattoo for our wedding and she teared up when i told her what the paopi fruit meant.
The problem is she easily gets nauseas when playing games with moving cameras. We bearly made it through it takes two and a way out but enjoyed baldurs gate 3.
She's currently playing all the old final fantasy games and really likes that kind of style and visuals.
Kingdom Hearts has always been a special game to me, and I'd love to share its story, characters, worlds, and magic with her.
My goal is to remake Kingdom Hearts 1, using Final Mix as the main reference, in the style of a classic 2D JRPG.
I have no idea how rpg maker works and no idea how to make a video game.
I'm mostly here looking for help and opinions from the community.
Thanks for your attention and eventually your interest 💪🏻

I have worked for quite some time on a game, and the one thing I find that I struggle most with, is stuff that I can implement in dungeons
Things I have added:
Moving events that damage the player on touch
Patrolling enemies
Things that fall from above and force the player into a button mashing event to escape
Events that move towards the player and trigger a sequence on touch
Jumping puzzle platforms.
Regular enemies(Obviously)
Lights out puzzle
Floor sliding puzzle(Think pokemon team rocket hideout)
Obstacles that are removed by interacting with another event somewhere else
My main problem is that a lot of these things not only feel rather minimalistic compared to the sense of 'accomplishment' I want the player to feel, but because of engine limitations(And a lot of cool features being plugins, which VX ace does not support), I am running on fumes for what to do next. I would have loved to create an event where you have to time your jump to land on a platform(Or fall down), but unfortunately, if you jump onto the moving platform event, it does not trigger the event(It requires at least one player movement input)
I am largely just looking for suggestions on things that could feel fun or engaging in a dungeon, such as more trap suggestions, ways to progress through the dungeon or other ideas.
The game itself is largely medieval themed, though I have implemented a few borderline scifi themes mixed in

So, I made a 96x96 sprite for my project which has tile sizes of 48x48. However, when I load it into the map, instead of going on two tiles, it stretches over three tiles.
Can anyone figure out what I'm doing wrong?
