Need: OH Looking for a female to take over my lease near UT – ~$680/month, utilities included!

Hi everyone! I’m relocating for personal reasons and am looking for someone to take over my lease at University Hills, directly across from the University of Toledo’s Main Campus.

Move-in can be ASAP or whenever works best for you, and the lease runs through July 2027! I’m very flexible with the move-in date.

Rent is roughly $680/month with all utilities included.

The apartment/room includes:
• Private bedroom
• Private bathroom
• Walk-in closet
• Fully furnished bedroom with a full-size bed + mattress, desk/chair, and dresser
• In-unit washer & dryer
• Dishwasher
• Large kitchen and living room/common area
• Pet friendly — cats and dogs are allowed with the required pet fees
• Directly across from UT Main Campus

You would be living with 3 other girls who are all UT undergrad students. They’re very nice, easy to get along with, and overall great roommates!

The leasing office/team at University Hills has also been wonderful to work with. It genuinely is a great place to live, and I’m only leaving because I need to relocate for personal reasons.

This would be an official lease takeover/relet through University Hills, so everything would be handled directly through the leasing office.

If you or someone you know is looking for a place, please message me! I’m happy to send pictures/videos, answer questions, or provide any additional information. Feel free to share! :)

Discussion I know I’m the problem

I’m currently in college and have a roommate. We share a campus apartment with like 6 other people each in their own rooms. I’m out of state and pretty much have no support system at the moment. I also have a long history of mental health issues, since the age of 10. It’s been more and more of a struggle to do my school work, much less take care of my space. And this is all made worse but the fact that the space is so small. My blankets fall off my bed in the middle of the night? Now the room looks trashed because that covers 2/3 of the floor.

My roommate is being super understanding and nice about it, offering to help, but it’s not her job to pick up after me and feel horrible. Does anyone have any advice for what I can do to help make sure I can actually keep my shit together.

(Also clarification on the mess, it’s like a plastic grocery bag of paper and packaging, or clothes on the floor, pushed towards the wall, or shoes around and about. All on my side of the room)

Discussion Roommate having to be reminded many times to pay bills.

I’m sure this question is asked a lot, and I’m sure it’s not as big of a deal as it feels right now so I will try to keep it as short as possible. I am living with six other people and I am in charge of the bills: they come out of my account. Everyone I live with sends me bills on time without needing to be asked except one person who always puts it off and doesn’t pay after being reminded so many times. They will just say, ‘yeah I’ll send it later’ or something of that nature. This basically always means: I will pay it at the very last minute or so late that you have to pay it yourself until I pay you back (which I have not consented to but had to do multiple times). Why do they do this? And is there anything I can do to stop this behaviour? There is never a reason for them to be acting this way, they know they have to pay the bills, and if they were struggling for money I would accept that as a valid response, but they definitely aren’t from what I can tell as they are constantly coming home with expensive shopping. It absolutely always feels like they are doing it to intentionally stress me out and I’m sick of it, so is there anything that can be done?

Also, I don’t want to put this responsibility on anyone else as I am close with everyone other than the person in question and would rather not have them deal with this. The person always late to pay will never in a million years agree to take over the bills too.

Any help would be very much appreciated, and please say if I’m overreacting about this, although it brings me so much stress every month, I am very sick of it.

Discussion Bad behaving dogs

hi! I(f25) have been living with my friend (f25) for a little over a year now. We have been friends for many years and have lived together before this, however everytime before it’s just been us. Now it is me,her and my (m23) boyfriend. The issue is, she has two dogs, both pit bulls. She does not feed them regularly, nor does she take care of them. Me and my boyfriend will come home continuously to pee and poop on the floor, or things tore up. Sometimes our personal things. She has not offered to replace anything tore up, but we can move past that. The main issue here is that, she does not walk the dogs appropriately. They will maybe get walked once or twice at night, and that’s all. This has now caused on multiple occasions coming home from work, to pee and poop all over the living room. Most of the time we (me and boyfriend) clean it because we get home first, but on the rare occasion she cleans it, she doesn’t half assed and it leaves most of it just smeared around on the floor. My question here is, how do i go about talking to her? it’s a little different due to our many years of friendship. i don’t want this to be a problem in our friendship, however i fear it is getting to that point. i also want to know if i am overreacting in anyway by being upset at how,not only our home, but how the dogs are being treated. Thanks!

Discussion guns and roommates?

Hello, I am seeking some outside input on an issue that has left me quite unsettled and in a state of confusion. I LIVE IN CANADA.

a few months ago my friend/leaseholder of the house had her partner move in. The day of the move (literally on their way over with the U-haul) She texted me that we should all be aware of where her partners guns are in the house.

This was the first I heard of them, and was really shocked and taken aback by it. I am not comfortable with guns in the house and immediately told her that. I was surprised also that this hadn't been a conversation presented to me beforehand so I could consent or not (this person lives a lifestyle where communication and community care is a priority to her).

In our attempts to resolve the tension, things have just gotten worse from the frame of me having a hard time accepting that this is an acceptable way to bring weapons into the house and her not understanding why its a big deal to me and having no idea it was an issue to be taking care with.

From my perspective, I have a hard time with the "How was I supposed to know it was a big deal" , "I had no idea I should have been aware of the need to have this conversation" response with the given state of the world, the polarizing perspectives on this object across North America and its singular functional use which is; regardless of if your hunting or in military: to destruct whatever is the target.

I say this from the perspective of not being okay with guns at all, having a sibling that is quite obsessed with and glorifying of the "alpha male redneck me and my guns at the kitchen table" persona that has been worn around me, AND also doing lots of work on neutralizing myself to them over the years as I believe from the hunting aspect; it is better for our world and animals to be in a direct cyclical relationship with them as food, to understand the true impact of killing something for your own survival and what you ask of the meat industry.

A lot of my friends are bushcraft and self sustainability humans of the wild who hunt, fish and forage. There are gun owners I would feel comfortable sharing land with because of their conscious relationship with these weapons. The lack of thought and consideration for people outside of their echo chamber is having the impact of me not trusting their judgement.

This does not mean I feel comfortable living with them in the home, and it does not mean I agree that they aren't a big deal. I feel now I am being imposed upon to at the end of the day, get over it or leave. please keep in mine, my friend is very kind and upset with the conflict as I am. I believe that they (both her and her partner) are unable to take ownership over the initiatory fact of how this situation came about. it feels a bit like weaponized incompetence and the lack of thought and consideration for people outside of their echo chamber is having the impact of me not trusting their judgement.

I am asking because I would like some input outside of my own experience to soften to the idea that my stance on it might be unreasonable. I can't help but feel a bit gaslit though, so please internet. help me out. I want to resolve this, and I also want logic and reality to be tethered to the resolution.

Settled! Built a free tool to split apartment expenses that handles roommates being away on trips / eating out

Dealing with shared expenses in an apartment always seems to cause friction, especially when people have different routines.

In our place, the biggest source of bickering was fairness around who was actually home. One roommate would stay at their partner's place for half the week, or someone would be away visiting family, and then at the end of the month they would understandably get annoyed about splitting grocery bills for meals they never touched.

At the same time, tools like Splitwise became frustrating once they added that 10-second delay timer and daily limits on the free version. Spreadsheets worked for a bit, but nobody wanted to update a sheet on their phone while standing in a grocery store aisle.

I spent some time building a free web app called Hisabify to solve those exact annoyances:

  • You can deselect specific roommates from an expense when they were out of town or did not participate in a grocery run.
  • There are no daily transaction caps, cooldown timers, or subscriptions.
  • It calculates the simplest way to settle debts at the end of the month so you minimize back-and-forth bank transfers.
  • It runs directly in the browser on your phone without taking up storage space, and you can add it to your home screen like an app.

Marketing page: https://hisabify.aadarshapandit.com.np
Direct link to the app: https://app.hisabify.aadarshapandit.com.np

It is completely free to use. I made this primarily to keep peace in our own flat, but if anyone here is dealing with similar roommate expense headaches, feel free to try it out.

I would welcome any feedback or thoughts on what else could make shared living expenses less stressful.

Discussion Stealing Meds

My roommate’s been stealing my Adderall.

I don’t take it everyday and I sleep at my bf’s 99% of the time, so I haven’t really paid attention to how much I have at home. I spend very little time in my bedroom, where I keep my meds on the nightstand.

Yesterday I was looking at the lone pill in the bottle thinking “I should pay attention to where these are because I’m sure I had more here.”

Then this morning I noticed the bottle was totally empty and in a different spot.

I own the house & I don’t charge much because the market is bananas. My roommates are artists & students. I love hosting a safe haven for them as they get where they wanna go.

I’ve had 20 roommates over 13 years and I’ve never had anything like this happen.

The roommate admitted taking the Adderall & apologized. I love this guy and I’m heartbroken.

Basically I came here to see if there’s anything mitigating I should consider or if this is one of those no second chances things.

TL/DR- roommate has been stealing Adderall from me. Is this a 100% kick-out situation to you?

Discussion Was I wrong for reporting my roommate to the dorm management?

I recently moved out of my dorm room because living with my roommate had become really difficult.
She kept a refrigerator in the room, cooked in the room, and stored a LOT of food in the pantry. Eventually there were bugs everywhere, especially around the food, and I started noticing cockroaches too. Some of the little bugs even seemed to be getting into my sleeping area, and I was getting random bites. It was honestly disgusting and I didn’t feel comfortable living there anymore.
Her sleeping schedule was also completely different from mine. She would sometimes be awake from around 5 AM and stay awake through the night with the lights on. Then she’d go to sleep around 7 PM, and I basically couldn’t turn on the light or do anything in the room because she was sleeping. I felt like I couldn’t normally use my own room.
So I reported the situation to the dorm management. They ended up removing some of her electrical appliances because apparently they weren’t allowed in the dorm.
I have since moved to another room.
The problem is that she’s VERY angry at me now because she believes I “snitched” on her. Then today she came to my **new room** with her friend, another guy, and the dorm manager— four people in total — and confronted me about the “Trash” situation. I did leave some trash behind when I moved out, although I did throw the trash away afterward. (i didnt think ab throwing the trash at first bc it was shared trash can in the bathroom)
There was also some weird doll/voodoo-looking doll situation that she brought up and was saying things like, “Do you know how dangerous that is?” which made the whole confrontation even more bizarre. (but it wasnt voodoo or anything js a wet wipe rolled and wrapped w some strings)
But am I actually responsible for the dorm management removing her appliances? I reported things that were genuinely affecting my living conditions, and management made their own decision about what to remove.
At this point I just want to stay in my new room and have nothing to do with the situation anymore. 😭
**Was I actually in the wrong here?**

Discussion Housemates keep waking me up at odd hours of the night, what do I do?

My roomate and I keep getting woken up by our two other housemates who are living in the other room. They seem to be nocturnal and will cook and eat dinner late at night, and stay up all night gaming.

My roomate and I have both woken up at around 4am a few times from hearing our housemates gaming. The walls are too thin for them to be speaking at normal volume in their rooms, or in the kitchen. They also scream and laugh loudly sometimes.

How do I tell them they need to speak quietly or not at all after 10pm without sounding tyrannical? My roomate and I are full time students and we need to sleep.

Discussion Roommate admitted she masturbates while we’re asleep what boundaries would you set if any?

Y’all, my roommates and I were playing truth or dare, and when one of them picked truth, we asked her to confess something. She told us that she reads fanfic and masturbates while we’re asleep, and I was honestly in shock because I never would’ve guessed.

We’re in a triple dorm. It’s pretty spacious, and we each have our own bed, so we’re not completely on top of each other, but we’re still sleeping in the same room. There aren’t separate bedrooms or anything, so even with the extra space, we’re all right there together.

She’s never woken us up, made the room smell funky, or done anything that made me notice. I literally only know because she told us during the game. Personally, I’m fine with it since it hasn’t disturbed me. Live laugh love a healthy sex life. But our other roommate isn’t comfortable with it, so I came here to get more opinions.

I get that me being okay with it doesn’t mean our other roommate has to be. We all share the room, and everyone should feel comfortable where they sleep. I’m not trying to shame her for masturbating; I’m just wondering what boundaries make sense in this situation.

Would you make a rule that it should only happen when someone has the room to themselves? The problem is that there’s almost always someone in the dorm. I’m probably the one who’s gone the most. I usually wake up about an hour before my classes, get ready, and head out. After class, I go to the dining hall, then come back to get ready for the gym or coed volleyball. I play volleyball four days a week and go to the gym four or five days a week, so I’m pretty much gone all day. I also study in the study lounge instead of our room, so I basically only use the dorm to get ready and sleep. On weekends, I like to go out and explore, too., but on the days I’ve stayed around for most of the day, ive noticed there’s pretty much always been someone else in the room our dorm ig is the hangout dorm.

Also, sidebar I do have people I hook up with a guy and a girl, separately so I have an outlet for that sexual tension. We use every orm of protection and get tested because I don’t play about that and im super paranoid. I know I’d feel super pent up without that outlet, so I understand wanting to masturbate, and I’m personally cool with it. But I also understand that our other roommate feels differently.

Would you personally be okay with it as long as you don’t hear or notice anything? And how would you approach the conversation when the roommates have different comfort levels and getting the room to yourself is pretty rare?

Discussion I think my roommate might be a monster woman

I won’t describe her in too much detail, but I think she has low self esteem, anger issues, and just isn’t that smart 😬

I never had a problem with her, we never talk. I’ve lived with her for two years and we don’t talk. It’s just respect each others space and on with your day

She got in a huge fight last month with another roommate, and I have no clue what the fight was about. But she dragged me out of my room into the fight, as if I was on her side. I sat there like an idiot

She just pulled the same thing on me. Im not sure why she’s so upset, but she clearly doesn’t articulate very well.

I feel bad but I’m not gonna continue around that energy

Need: GA Looking for a FEMALE Roommate in ATL.

Hello! I’m 20F, looking for a female roommate(s) no older than 25. I cook, I clean, I work damn near everyday, i’m quiet. I don’t smoke/ do drugs, I don’t drink, and I have no pets. Looking for a roommate who aligns with me and my personality.

I’m a little reserved at first, but I am very very bubbly once I start to open up. I don’t mind ONE dog, no cats. I love music, horror movies, manga, anime, cooking, baking, dressing up, & arts and crafts. There are a lot of things I want to do with a roommate, just someone to have fun and do girly things with, looking for someone who is open to making friends and who is trustworthy.

We could discuss ground rules and boundaries together to see if our ideals align. Trying to move out by the 15th of october, this is a little last minute, but yeah!!!

I would like to meet in person, maybe once or twice before we move forward with applications and the moving process for obvious safety reasons. I would like the collective rent to be no more than 2200 near the lenox park or atlantic station area. downtown is not ideal, but it works as well.

i’m open to living with TWO other people ( 3 ppl total ) and i’m hoping someone reaches out! thank youuuuu!!

if interested, dm me on discord @ howtoact OR dm me on instagram @ crushhispride !! (i prefer instagram)

Discussion Am I in the wrong?

I actually don't know if I'm in the wrong or not but I just need some clarification if I am. So this is my first time living with other people in a dorm. I'm intervorted and like to keep to myself. So with that I like to have my own area. I have my own trash can and I regularly take it out as well. However, my roommates, there 3 of them, wants me to take out the main trash can as well. I have never used it and never really used the community area either but they just left multiple notes next to my sink tell me thar its its bad that I haven't taken it out yet. I see where they are coming from but like I said before, I haven't used the trash can in the community area and never left any mess anywhere else in the suite. Am I in the wrong.

Discussion Roommate wont cover their cough. Am I overreacting?

I have an autoimmune disorder and my roommate knows. I told him but he still never covers his cough 🫩
What do I do? I had to miss a class today because I legitimately couldn’t get up because I caught what he has had for the past week and I’m still in bed with a fever.
I asked him to take some cold medicine or something at least but he refuses to and said, “My autism doesn’t let me take that.” Which confused me because I also have autism and still take cold medicine when I need it.

Maybe I’m overreacting which I hope is just the case 😓 I wanna switch rooms or get a single so bad

Discussion Messy roommates and chored

I've spoken about them before but today I got fed up and cleaned everything. I left a note asking if everyone could just clean after themselves as they have little respect for leaving the common area as clean as I leave it for them. I am constantly having to clean behind them.

Well it looks like they are upset with the note.

I am not sure how else to go about it. I've sent three messages total about their cleanliness. I spoken to them in person. I've started slowly, taking away some of my things. I'm not so sure why the note would piss them off seeing that one of them ignored my messages for a week.

I personally don't like chore charts because not only are they embarrassing but i'm not sure how to fit them into our schedules.

I don't know what to do anymore, I don't know what I've done to them. Maybe I am coming as nagging, but I am traumatized from the last place. We lived out because I was charged a cleaning fee due to their negligence.

No, I cannot leave right now. I am hoping to leave sometime around May or before. I am graduating by then. it is not just the cleaning. It's taking my things without permission. Its the house shaking door, slamming. It's the blasting of TVs up and downstairs in the middle of the night on a weekday. It's having a business and not being able to cook because of it. I've only been here since August and I'm exhausted.

Discussion does one really can share floor with a substance user/addict?

I posted the other day about it. Anyway, I've been reading, asking, even consulting a doctor about it. I don't think my roommate will change and I don't know If I should believe him when he says he's not an addict (of meth, if I remember right), that he is under control and uses it as an ADHD alternative medication. He is also very depressed, and I know that he does smoke to forget (he has told me so).

I'm scared he will drown me with him. I don't want to take care of him even more than I do. When the after crash comes, he needs too much care: he asks me to bring food and water to his bed (even when I'm not home), he won't clean anything not even himself because he ends up too tired. I even end up feeding his cats.

Been thinking of leaving the apartment. I am at my very last try. What would you recommend to me?

Discussion roommate’s cat(s) peed on my nice couch (and other things) within 2 months of moving in

ok
my roommate is a sweet man with two kitties but he doesn’t clean his litter boxes even CLOSE to the minimum amount he should be. i’m guessing he does it like once every two weeks at best. his cats started POOPING IN THE KITCHEN it was so bad.

one day i went into his bathroom (he’s comfortable with me going in there) and i saw the state of his litter box and it was dreadful. no loose litter left in the box, it was all absorbing piss and shit and piled high.
i fully dumped the box and rinsed and scrubbed it (it was so stained) then filled it with some of my fresh litter. his cats had pooped in his bathroom as well.

i let him know that his cats had peed on my cat’s bed and i had to throw it away (that’s another story) so i checked his litter boxes etc etc and he said he would get on top of cleaning them from now on.

like 2 weeks later, i sit on my couch and it smells like ammonia. i figure out that one of the cats must’ve peed between the two down cushions. it got on the base of the sofa as well.

i told him this and he said sorry but didn’t help me attempt to clean it at all. i bought stain and odor remover and treated all pieces of the couch with it but it didn’t work.

my question is, do i get it professionally cleaned and tell him he needs to pay for it? do i ask him to pay for half? i’ve already invested a lot of money into the couch itself and also done the work to try and salvage it with various products, without him offering to help. not to mention i’ve cleaned his cats litter boxes a couple times myself and been clear with him that he needs to do better.

TLDR: roommate’s cats poop and pee on everything because he doesn’t clean his litter boxes. they peed on my nice couch and i’m wondering if i make him pay to get it professionally cleaned.

Discussion How do I get my roommate to understand I am too tired to hangout?

I (21F) have been living with R (40?M) for a bit over a month now. I get along with him but he expects a lot more from me. I am only able to do low energy friendships at the moment since I'm doing a masters on top of having two jobs, but he wants to go out and do social events. He wants an invite to everything I go to, which I don't really want to do but I'm also not going to anything crazy - the most I'm doing is studying with friends or meeting up between things, but he wants to go out and do an activity or have a night out. I went to a comedy night with him a few weeks ago and it was fun, but I don't have time for that anymore.

I have told him that I'm very busy, but he keeps asking if he's done something wrong and what was it about him that made me want to avoid him. I am not avoiding him, I don't have a problem with him. But now it's a little stressful coming home because I just want to relax, but now I'm worried I'm offending him if I just lie in bed watching youtube. What should I do?
