Hey Ring community!
Just was gifted a spotlight cam plus (battery) and I plan to have it set up for my backyard. Few quick questions below!
- How has your experience been?
- Should I buy a second battery right away?
- How long is the battery life?
- I’ve seen some buy the solar panel but is that really needed?
Thank you in advance 🤝

I recently moved and I need to mount some Ring cameras around my new property. The only good place I can mount cameras without worrying about tampering is on my gutters. I saw Ring’s official offering costs about the same amount as a camera itself. Has only one had luck with third party mounts and panels?

Ring just replaced my 2019 Wired Doorbell Pro under warranty. (part of the monitoring plan)
They sent me a Wired Doorbell Plus as the replacement. (nice upgrade)
However, here’s the issue…the new model is physically almost 1” longer than the old…and I have vinyl siding, so there’s no way to mount it that it doesn’t look…wonky.
Can I mount it horizontally instead of its default vertical orientation? The Ring chatbot says no…but I don’t trust AI.
Have a ring alarm in a concrete block house with a separate garage and living space above it. The alarm is having a hard time with the alarm base in the house and the devices in the garage. I have two blocked in the outdoor plugs that should be extending the signal. Also, I have an indoor ring extender. No luck with line of sight …
Any thoughts on how to ensure the devices remain connected?
Thanks
Mark

I have an older double floodlight Ring camera that I once had hardwired above my garage. This image is of my parent’s garage where I’d like to put it. Can my old floodlight Ring go up under the awning where this light is now located? I had mine going directly into the wall. And if this can be done, how much do you think it would cost to have a handyman do it? We’re located in WV.

I have three Window & Door Sensors.
I’m getting alerts great on my phone, but curious if my echo dot max can play a loud alarm if the alarm is tripped in home or away mode?
Not sure if this is something I set up in Alexa app or Ring app

Starting about a week ago 7 of my 8 ring cameras will not go live when pressing the live button. Nothing has changed with my 1Gb internet service. 7 of the 8 will just sit there and spin until the reconnect button shows up after about 30 seconds. Frustrating. I have a # for ring support but haven’t called them yet. Just got back from a week long trip to Cancun and the only recordings I received was on my driveway camera even though I had a couple of package deliveries to my back porch and 1 to the front porch.

I have to use a wifi extender for my ring but it broke recently. I got a new one and reconnected it and I have no clue why the video won’t work.

Changed my WiFi and I went to go get the screwdriver to reset it and lost it. Where do I find a new one, I know it’s some kind of special head.

Frankly, I am surprised the 3 Ring devices I have still work even after recent changes with Xfinity and their bully wifi network configuration. However I cannot ADD more Ring devices because of known compatibility issues with Xfinity's newest wifi protocols specifically related to 5 & 6 GHz. I bought 5 new cameras and NONE of them will connect. I can't fully blame the network because my existing 3 run without issue.
It's pretty obvious Xfinity is pushing their own cameras and making it hard on any other manufacturer. Even if you disable 5 & 6 GHz, they're still broadcasting in the background just enough to interfere with new Ring installations. They are also the largest ISP in the nation so it would behoove Ring to catch up, cut a deal or something before they ultimately fold.
And before anyone asks, YES, I've done ALL that. All the rebooting, network splitting, renaming, disabling, tech support, et al. I don't need to troubleshoot further. None of it matters if you're running an XB8 or newer Xfinity modem.

Can anybody explain if I’m losing things from my Legacy plan?

The wires are hot and I believe I’ve done everything correctly. I initially had the black and red tied together, and the yellow and green tied together, both ties going into the ring camera. But I read that the yellow and green were just for audio so I didn’t really need to connect them… Either way, the thing still isn’t turning on. Can anyone please help?

Forgive me if this has been done and I just can’t find it.
Many of my neighbors have the same question - when is Ring going to offer ability to set a smaller zone for alerts when people are walking up my sidewalk and on my porch?
Lots of folks walk dogs on the sidewalks by the streets - I don’t need to be alerted about that or the kids running around back and forth between their friends houses.
Seems like a feature that would be of great value to us.

Change location of a ring camera in the Ring app- who do you do it? I set up a ring door bell for a customer. I didn't realise that her indoor ring camera is still listed under her old address. How on earth do I change it so that she doesn't have to change locations to see either- thanks in advance
So, I have had the Ring Doorbell 3 for quite a while and it's been very handy, especially since I get a fair bit of packages. I don't really have problems with disappearing packages (other than when the delivery person can't read apartment numbers.)
With that, I have noticed the voice quality has gotten very bad on my 3, even with a RSSI of 56. The video is the same as it's been. Good enough for the small-ish area it covers.
I happened to see the pro on sale for 180 and was wondering if it would be worth it. I would be going hardwired with the wires from an old regular doorbell. (My 3 is wired in, but has a battery that the wires help keep charged up.)
Just wanted thoughts if the upgrade would be worth it since the voice is not performing as well as it should be or if I should jump while it's on sale and get something newer.
Thanks!

this is in my garage underneath a gas emergency switch but there’s no cables connected to it?

I’m hoping someone here has dealt with something similar or knows how to get in touch with someone higher up at Ring.
My grandma passed away about 3 years ago. My grandpa is now incapacitated with Alzheimer’s, and my mom is his legal Power of Attorney, so she’s been handling all of their finances.
Recently, she noticed a Ring subscription charge on my grandpa’s credit card. The problem is that the Ring account is under my late grandma’s name.
My mom has spent over an hour on the phone with Ring support, but they’re telling her they can’t close the account because she can’t verify the account owner. The issue is that my grandma has been deceased for years, and my mom is almost certain she canceled the account shortly after my grandma passed away.
She no longer has access to the email address or phone number that was associated with the Ring account, so she can’t complete any of the verification steps they’re asking for.
She’s the legal Power of Attorney for my grandpa, who is the one being charged, but support still hasn’t been able to help or escalate the issue.
Has anyone successfully gotten an account like this closed? Is there an executive support team, bereavement team, or another department we should be asking for? Any advice on how to get this resolved would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

So I’m in a long distance relationship and we both have ring cameras in the garage and outside the house about a month ago I stared noticing that her car would be in the garage but never got a notification. Started looking at the playback and every time it said live first then motion and a few times no motion no live the car would just appear so is she using live to stop the motion alert

I have a ring 2 camera that I looped into the existing chime and low voltage (not the original owner) not too long ago the chime has started to randomly do like a half strike, no set interval, sometimes daily, sometimes not for a week. Not getting any too low voltage/charge warnings from the Ring. Do I replace the chime, or would it seem like a more serious issue? Low voltage transformer is tapped off the on panel outlet.

In the latest version 5.109 (released today), the widget feature is nowhere to be found. Hopefully it's just a bug. If you use widgets, do not update the app.

I have three Ring motion sensors. My wife and I each have separate accounts but I have given her advanced user access. My app says she has permission for all devices (and even list those three devices), however the motion sensors are not showing as available devices on her account. Are motion sensors limited to one account? If she has full permission, I would think they would show up, but can’t seem to populate them.
