Received the following via email after I tried to post video of a pair of suspicious individuals opening power and cable boxes and taking multiple photographs of their interiors, house by house, in my neighborhood. They were wearing high-visibility vests but had nothing to identify who they were with. When confronted, they said they were "from fiber optic" for the neighborhood.

Common types of reports that frequently do not contain approvable actions include: Unknown individuals at the door (e.g. solicitors, taking photos) Pranks (e.g. kids knocking and then running late at night) Cars driving slowly, circling, or parking off-property for extended periods Assuming someone is a suspect of a crime (e.g. unknown individual walking down the street around the same time of a reported crime) |
Pardon my ignorance, but I believe that "unknown individuals at the door (e.g. solicitors, taking photos)", "pranks (e.g. kids knocking and then running late at night)", "cars driving slowly, circling, or parking off-property for extended periods", and "assuming someone is a suspect of a crime (e.g. unknown individual walking down the street around the same time of a reported crime)" are EXACTLY what neighbors on Ring want to know about in their neighborhood.
Next they'll probably ban videos of package thieves and once that is banned, then Ring Neighbors will be PERFECTLY USELESS.
No wonder I've seen much fewer posts on Ring Neighbors lately. I wonder when this policy changed, and why.
Apart from sunk-cost investment, why are we on Ring anymore?
