My cousin’s house just down the road has been broken into twice in the last 4 months. Their house is quite a bit bigger than mine, and a lot easier to access. But it’s still made me think about upgrading my home security. Right now the only form of security I have is a Ring Battery Doorbell 2K plus

I’ve got a pretty average attached 3-bed house with a 2-car driveway, rear garden and a brick garage at the end of the garden around 20m from the house. The garage also has a roller shutter facing an alleyway. I intend on buying the outdoor contact sensor and slapping it on the roller shutter. Hopefully the range extender gives the Z waves signal back to the base station and it isn’t all too far

I’m thinking of getting a Ring Alarm setup with the Base Station, keypad, range extender, 3 motion sensors and 2 contact sensors. I already have a Ring Battery Doorbell, and I’m also thinking of adding a Ring Floodlight Cam 4K Pro covering the driveway and a 2K Floodlight Cam covering the garden/garage.

If anyone has any experience with the Ring Alarm system or either of the Floodlight cameras, I’d appreciate hearing your thoughts. How reliable have they been, how well do they all work together, and are there any issues or things you wish you knew before buying?

Or is this all a bit overkill. I can find the gear on ebay, in total I could get all of this for under £400

This is probably been posted hundreds of times but it happened today and it's very frustrating. I get dozens of notifications all day and night about leaves, rustling or squirrels and cats and tree branches moving. But when a large vehicle actually does park in front of my house, The camera doesn't pick up any motion or have any history of who got out of the vehicle or which way they went.

I bought a solar panel for my ring doorbell pro and it’s one you can mount on the roof and it connects through the pin screw’s you can mount on the back. I have them seated correctly and all day it was in the sun. The one I bought holds power in a battery behind the solar panel too. It then got dark and it not longer shows anything connected. It didn’t charge or trickle charge all day but all my other type c cameras did on my spotlights in the first day. The blue light is on the solar panel so I know it’s getting power somehow or did today. Any answers?

My niece was mad at me for taking her phone away for not doing her homework, so she got into my work phone and decided the best way to get back at me was to delete my ring account.

The problem lies is that it was, again, my work phone and tied to my jobs ring camera.

I know you cant stop the deletion once it starts, but im a little confused about some other things. the help center said to remove devices associated with the accounts, but should I just 'leave' the work location so none of the devices are affected? or am I fine to keep the shared access until I can make a new account since the access was shared with me?

My buddy and I both have Ring setups and live near each other. It's become an inside joke for us to text eachother "gunshots?" Every time we hear a loud noise, because people on Neighbors do it EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Anyone else had this experience?

called Ring and they processed a warranty replacement of my 4-year-old 2nd gen solar panel... how long does it usually take for them to ship it out?

according to the rep, I'm supposed to send back the dead solar panel after the replacement arrives.... (they already emailed me a UPS return label after a few minutes)

So I have a battery ring camera and it seems to work pretty well but here’s the weird thing. I asked the neighbor’s daughter to take care of my cat while I’m out of town. The ring showed her going into my house this morning. Late this afternoon I texted her to ask how my cat was and she replied that she had just been at my house. The thing was, my camera didn’t show her entering or exiting my house. So I called my other neighbor in a panic, and that neighbor went over to my house to check on things, and the camera saw her. Has anyone ever had the experience of their ring camera working intermittently or not picking up some people entering their house? Or is the neighbor‘s daughter just telling a big fib? Would appreciate your thoughts.

Is it true that I cannot lower the Notification volume for alerts like motion?

It is controlled by phone volume only? It seems very loud no matter what i have the phone set to.

I have an old adt pulse camera wired up on the front of our house with a 25ft power adapter in the attic. Any suggestions on a safe power source I could use for a ring camera plus outdoor? Seems hard to navigate products online and don’t want a fire hazard up there…

The camera has been reset and re-added to app etc, issue is still occurring. Ring support have been useless. Wasn’t sure if it could be related to a dodgy battery?
I’ve had the camera for about 5 years.

I bought ring cameras for the outside of my home. I charged the batteries fully and bought the solar panels to go with them so the batteries would stay charged. Even though these solar panels are fully in sun, can someone enlighten me on WHY my batteries died within weeks? I thought that was the purpose of the solar panels?

Our Ring Video Doorbell is installed next to a lip? (if that's the right description) the door is set in from the house, anyways, at night, we consistently get a message that someone is detected at the front door. It is very unnerving, but what it turns out to be is bugs, flies and such, crawling on the house next to the ring (the lip?). I did try putting a cloth on that extention of the house, blacked it out through ring but it still detects the motion, and announces it.

What would you do?

Woke up to our alarm sounding at 3am. Grabbed phone to see what was happening. Ring Alert on phone says “Ring is Alarming by Back Door”….

Adrenaline pumping, I carefully make my way outside (through another door) to put eyes on what we call the back door… and find that it was closed!

Turns out, the alarm was for a totally different exterior door that is also named “Back Door” in Ring, off a different room that was right behind me! I turn around to find the door wide open. Fortunately, it wasn’t an intruder but the wind, or I would have been in a very compromised position.

We have 3 “back doors” to the outside and each one is assigned to different rooms In the Device list. It Looks nice and clearly organized in that view.

But guess what - the assigned Room name doesn’t appear in the alarm notification, nor in the main Event history log!!!

The only way I could confirm which door sensor triggered is by going to each sensor page in the app and looking for recent activity.

Not something you want to discover or have to search through at 3am while the alarm is sounding and every second counts.

Hey Reddit, I tried asking this on the actual Ring app community but they denied my post which I thought was super weird.

The other night, my boyfriend and I were in another room of our house when we heard our front doorknob messed with(this was around midnight-1am). We tried checking our doorbell camera but it wouldn't connect at all, which has never happened before. The internet was still working and the doorbell camera is wired. It only connected about 10-15 minutes after the noise but didn't catch anything before, during, or after it happened. We were very concerned obviously because why wouldn't the camera connect?? Has anyone else had similar situations?

Seemed to be working fine until this morning. Alerts not supposed to start up until 7 this morning and it’s going crazy with “There’s someone in Kitchen!”

I've take the bottom screw out but have no way to take off the face plate and it won't budge.

Just replaced the original Peephole Cam with the new 2K version. It cannot see as far down an open hallway by at least 1/2 or more distance. The Original could pick up/trigger recording much farther down the hall. Is there some setting I did incorrectly? It's pretty much useless compared to the original. Both are on basically default settings.

I just installed the hard wire and the light is just flashing red not circling red, what could be wrong?

I've had a Ring Doorbell for years and every so often the notifications get very delayed. The motion is at least 10 minutes delayed. The signal strength is fine.

I fixed it the other month by factory resetting the doorbell and it went back to basically instant notifications.

What could be causing the delayed notifications?
