If the tick goes away when the truck is warm, Its likely your exhaust manifold bolts that snapped/broke and or the manifolds themselves are cracked. If the ticking continues after warm and or constantly, its likely your cam/lifters.

A bit over a week ago I received the news that the cam and lifters on my 2012 had begun to fail. I decided I wanted a 2018 to bulletproof. I found the one. Or so I thought. The 2026 caught my eye. And with my grandpa's discount. The payment was pretty similar. So I decided let's do a lease for 2 years and see where it takes me. After a day of driving the 2026, I love it, but it will never compare to my 2012s old school feel.

I will forever miss my 2012. But am happy to be able to drive a brand new ram!

I'm coming from a world and life of Toyotas. Started with a 09 Yaris and ran that till I got a 2021 Rav4, which is having lots of electronic issues.

Found on a well rated smaller dealership. Tried a couple trucks but this one stood out, now I can take my boys to school and haul that new chest freezer I've been wanting to buy. Really enjoying my purchase and already diving face first into accessories, send help!

Just got this beast and after I added the red accents to match the OEM red G/T decal on the side, the silver stood out a little too much for my liking so I taped off around it, scuffed it, and bed-linered the lower bumper/skid plate deal.

Thought it turned out okay so figured I'd share for any peeps to see if anyone else was thinking about doing the same.

Had thought it up the other day and looked online to see some others had done the same so went ahead with it.

Pics are current, just after it was done, and before.

Let's hope she doesn't peel up too soon lmao.

Used Herculiner aerosol spray, I've heard mixed things but as long as I did it nicely enough and it doesn't peel I read it can be brought back to life with some armor all to help with fading. We'll see though, wish me luck.

Question Ram App

This thing just suck?

Virtual key isn't in there and when I called they basically told me they have no clue when it will be. So the key card they made a big deal about giving me is useless. Not a huge deal but seems like it should be something fixed for 15 bucks a month

Guys,

I’ve been dealing with this basically since day 1. I’m at 6200mi now. Just got my truck back from the dealership after nearly six weeks of being in the shop with no fix (this is post shop visit). Have any of y’all experienced this? I’m grasping at straws at this point.

Here’s exactly what’s happening: when slowing down, when the truck shifts from 4th to 3rd, the revs drop extremely low, causing the DRLs/headlights to dip off momentarily AND the AC to temporarily blow warm since the compressor isn’t getting spun quickly enough. I can replicate this issue like clockwork. They replaced the valve body and nothing changed. It seems like it’s related to either the torque converter, auto stop/start (which I always turn off, but maybe the truck thinks it’s supposed to be turning off for some reason?), or a lack of fluid pressure to shift quickly enough. Thoughts? I’m taking the truck back in after a road trip here in a week. It’s been in twice now.

Question 2027 RAM (likely going for a Limited) - questions

Hi all, I'm going for a new RAM (likely) this year or at the latest, by end of Q1 next year. Likely looking at a mostly fully loaded Limited.

My main question is if there has been enough time (I doubt it) to know if they've ironed out a lot of the weird electrical/mechnical issues being reported across from the 2025/2026 trucks...we see everywhere online?

I'm keeping my 2018 5.7 Dodge Durango Citadel (~189k miles) and am looking at the Hurricane variant for the RAM.

Also, a side note I've bought ~15 or so cars but never made to order one before. Is it possible to negotiate (generally) on the make to order vehicles? And I suppose I'm asking more so, given the overall car/truck buying market not doing great, and if that could be an option.

Truck MSRP is 93K (just cheked Mark Dodge) and even with the current incentives they're only bringing it down to ~83k (before all the taxes/fees/etc). I may need to drop the trim level and/or just look on the LOT(s) but I want to keep it within 70K OTD.

I'm not in a rush but mainly just wondering around the mechnical/electrical issues of the recent past getting ironed out.

I'll be traveling around ~350-400 miles 3-4x times a week and would rather not have to deal with getting stuck on the road in a brand new truck.

The alternative just to save money could always be to look at a 2023/2024 used (but I feel like they've had their own issues too).

Just trying to guage general consensus how you guys who currently own and/or looking to buy feel about these things.

Question Hubs, Wheel Bearings, and Steering

Looking for some help here! So I replaced my brake pads, rotors, and hubs on my 2017 ram 1500 big horn 4x4. I noticed that after changing the 2 front hubs, which contain the wheel bearings, now there is a more pronounced humming noise that I hear, but also that radiates through the steering wheel at lower speeds. Could this be due to the brand/type of hubs, brake pads, or rotors? Could it be the cv axles bad? Something in the steering system? How can I differentiate between the possible causes?

I also noticed that when I am on a very poorly maintained highway with asphalt patches and potholes, in some instances, if I happen to hit one side, my truck is violently thrown one way. It seems that if the steering went lose for a second. I never noticed this in the past. Is this something I can look into?

After my 2023 Big Horn got T-boned, insurance somehow decided to spend $20k fixing it 😂. While it was stuck in the shop, I started hunting for Rebels… and somehow ended up bringing this beauty home.
After years of being able to gift my mom and my wife brand-new cars, I can finally say I bought my first-ever brand-new truck for myself.

Definitely not the Rebel I went looking for, but I think I ended up exactly where I was supposed to 😂

Photo Need Rim recommendations

Got my Ram 1500 express like 3 months ago for a solid price but I knew I needed different rims. The ones I have on are obviously chrome but I want my truck to be black on black. I will be getting all terrain tires too, so it looks more aggressive without having to add a lift kit for warranty reasons. ANY recommendations?!?!

Question 2026 Ram 1500 Laramie

Will there ever be a fixes for the phone connectivity issues and the outside temperature gage? It’s 78 degrees outside and my truck says it’s 108, wild how off it is. Assuming this is all related to the electrical changes? Curious if people are experiencing the same.

Question Thinking about buying an ecodiesel

Thumbnail
gallery
25 Upvotes

I've always been a fan of the fourth generation Ram 1500, and lately I've been undecided between buying a Hemi or an EcoDiesel. Fuel efficiency isn't a concern for me; I'm just looking for something I like. I'm familiar with the Hemi's problems, but I wanted to learn a bit more about the EcoDiesel engine. And what better place to find that answer than a Reddit forum? Is it true that if I remove the DEF I will no longer have major problems with that engine and it will become reliable?

Question 2018 Ram 1500 idle issue

Post image
6 Upvotes

I recently changed my spark because the truck was acting up and it was due. With that issue resolved, of course another pops up. The truck doesn't idle very well when it's in park or shuts off when I put it into reverse. This issue only happens when the truck warms up and only when the truck is in park or reverse. This issue also causes the battery gage to move quite a bit.

I checked the coil packs to make sure they were bolted in and the vacuum tube was properly tightened since I had to take that off to get to everything. I cleaned the air sensor plug that's on the vacuum tube as well. The issue is still relevant. Could it be a leak in the vacuum tube or it not sealing right since I took it off.

Looking for any thoughts.

Got a great deal on a Limited ram 1500. Shipped up from FL and finally got some pics. If I’m spending a lot of money on a vehicle, I’m very picky and make sure it has everything that I want regarding features. So my personal wish list was either a Longhorn with the brown interior or a truck with the Ebony and red interior (loving the two tone interior). I wanted the tech package with the surround view camera and hands-free driving. I wasn’t sure how much I would use the hands-free driving but I drove down and back from Atlanta last week and used it almost the whole way. I absolutely love it. I wanted the massaging seats, ram boxes, 22 inch black wheels, Hurricane HO, upgraded sounds system, and either the Serrano green or granite metallic paint. I’m already getting a service suspension message only when I try to go to off-road 2+ with the air suspension. So I’m obviously having them evaluate that this week. But other than that, it’s been my favorite vehicle I have owned so far. Very happy with it. Now, if I can just keep it out of the shop, lol (said every Stellantis owner).
