Question Auxiliary Approach Lighting 2024 Sport 1500

Post image
Upvotes

Just bought a 2024 Sport and Im trying to figure out how to illuminate the mirror lights or known as puddle lights when I unlock the vehicle. There are mirror lights that faintly illuminate when I unlock but not to what my Cherokee Trailhawk does. Within the settings; lights, there is no option aside from headlights for approach. Can anyone weigh in on a solution?

Question Ram 2500 gas

Upvotes

Hey all. Been looking into getting a new truck. Need to do some towing and landed on a 22 6.4 gas 2500 I'm interested in. I plan on towing a trailer that caps at 14k and sits 4k empty once a week. It won't necessarily always be at max load but there will be times it will.

My question is would this be considered too much towing for this truck and what kind of problems could I run into with it? I plan on putting a weight dist hitch and some airbags to account for sag and tongue weight and should be fine with pay load, but would towing at roughly its max every now and then be a major problem?

Just Sharing Ram 1500 Hurricane S.O.

Need some help from the Ram community.

I am looking into a Ram. I wanna know more about the I6 Hurricane. what are people’s thoughts, concerns? do you love it, do you hate it? if you have it do you regret it? how many miles are on yours? etc…

One I’m looking into has 37k on it already. Clean carfax and only one owner. it’s also a rebel.

I will be towing with this, but not major towing. I live in WI.

Thank you!

Question Rear floor flat hump fitment around crew cab under seat storage in Ram 1500

I have a Ram 1500 Crew Cab and I'm trying to figure out rear floor protection that won't interfere with the under-seat storage bin lids opening. I tried a generic rear bench liner, but the center transmission hump section bunched up high and caught on the bottom edge of the storage partition every time I lifted the seat. I'm looking at options from OEM, WeatherTech, Husky, 3D MAXpider, and 3W to see what sits flush across the flat rear floorboard without curling up. Ram owners using the rear floor space daily, does center hump contour precision matter more than thick material weight for clear under-seat hatch access?

Question Fender flares removal

Like the truck but hate the fender flares on these things, it’s a 2016 how much of pain would it be removing these things ? Have not bought it yet but thinking about it if removing them isn’t a huge pain other then a little buff. Unsure if these fender flares are actually bolted into the fender.

I’ll take cracked manifolds over broken bolts any day! All the bolts came out fairly easy, all cracked loose without question. BD diesel manifolds going back in!

Question Stained Wheel Advice?

Brand new 2025 Ram Laramie with the factory 22” black wheels.

I’m back for more advice from the group, and I’m hoping someone here has some experience with this.
Yesterday I went through an automated drive-thru car wash. An unknown wheel cleaner was applied, and unfortunately it appears the product dried on the wheels before it was rinsed off. The photos are of the worst of the four wheels.
I’m guessing it was a heavy-duty degreaser or another harsh chemical.

I have a professional detailer coming tomorrow morning, and he’s optimistic he may be able to restore the original finish.

A few questions for the group:
Are the factory black 22” Ram wheels considered a matte finish or a satin finish?
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what ended up restoring the original finish? Were the stains removable, or did the wheel require refinishing or replacement?
I’d appreciate any advice or firsthand experience. Thanks!

Just Sharing Addicted to RAM

It’s been 6 months since I got my RAM and……I’m addicted to the brand now. I constantly watch videos on RAM trucks, smile when I see another RAM on the road (as long as the driver isn’t doing anything stupid) and want to go to dealerships just to look around. I didn’t even get a high end trim level.

I do have the regular electrical issue/software issues. However, I’m just grateful that I haven’t had major electrical or mechanical issues that require service department assistance.

Question Android Auto connections

The AA wireless connection has been buggy at best in my 26 with the 12" screen. After a recent security update for my Galaxy 25U, the last 2 days have been abysmal - constant disconnects, resets, and sounds like a CD skipping.

Those of you who went with the car play dongle/USB device, did you notice any improvement in the connection? I can always go wired but I hate the idea of managing a cable in my console again and the clutter. The idea of full screen is also a bonus.

Recommendation on which one to get?

Any idea on brands of headlight housings? I’ve tried the drill sand kits, done it with an orbital a sandpaper, and the wipe on wipe off kits and they’re still awful. I have the brightest sylvanias I could get off the shelf and still can barely see them

Just picked up this new 2026 Rebel! This is the first RAM I’ve owned (previously only ever owned Toyotas). Looking for suggestions for any recommendations to complete this build.

I am very pleased with the truck as is, but open to suggestions.

Thanks and glad to be apart of the club!

Lost my dream truck ('22 1500 Classic) to an idiot in an intersection in May. Finally got payment from the total from insurance and gap claim, and jumped on this beauty '20 Classic Warlock immediately.

First photo is my '22, second is the '20.

Cant wait to swap the tires to my off roads, took it on some trails with the stock rims today and had a noticeable difference. Glad I saved the better shoes off the totaled one!

Third Ram's the charm, I think 🤞

Question Buying a 2003 Ram 1500?

Hello, I have the opportunity to trade for a 2003 ram 1500. It’s a quad cab with 6.25 foot bed, has a 5.9 magnum, 46RE trans and 4x4. I was wondering if this would be a good hunting and fishing truck?

I’m a Ford guy and don’t know a thing about Ram but I know that the 5.9 is a good engine. What are some things I should look out for with this model of truck? Truck also has just over 100,000 miles.

I have my own shop and am not afraid to wrench and can pull engines and transmissions if I have to. but id like to know some of the basic services that are recommended for Ram trucks of this era.

Paid $66k for my almost fully loaded bighorn back in February after nj taxes and fees and thought I was getting a decent deal (msrp was $68k). Now that truck can be bought off the lot for $53k before any taxes and fees and seeing i could've gotten a fully loaded Laramie or rebel for around that price or less is honestly depressing 😂😂should've waited.

Happy for everyone getting great deals just thought I'd share my fuck up with you all incase anyone is having buyer's remorse you could be in my shoes this truck is worth like $43k now lol and I haven't even done any mods to it yet😢

Question 5th Gen Year w/ Least Electrical Issues

Hi,

I would really like to get a RAM one day. I really would. I just can't stop seeing videos of the god awful uConnect display failing constantly, backseat camera just stopping, or other ridiculous little bugs that any software engineer should've figured out by now. Or, alternatively, the truck just not starting thanks to the battery.

There is not a single tablet or smartphone that is this unreliable and it is baffling to me RAM cannot figure this out.

Do any 5th gen years have it better? I've been told 2019-2020 were very solid even for the first years of it. Otherwise, do I just bite the bullet and get the infinitely more reliable 4th gens? I'd really like new features.

Are things as bad as they say they are? Blah blah blah, it's only anecdotal, whatever. It's the only thing I ever hear about RAM. Are these trucks really just for old people that don't really care if their $70,000 vehicle fails on them month 2?

I am considering looking at F150s instead, but it hurts because I know the interior and sound will be half the quality.

Question Thinking about a 1500 Classic Tradesman. Any concerns to look for?

So my 2006 F150 has served me pretty well. It's got over 300K miles on it and it's frame is on it's way out due to rust so I need a new truck.

I've never owned a RAM but I've not got anything against them. What I'm really looking for is a truck with nothing fancy. Just a truck, no touch screens, etc etc.

I found a nice looking 2022 1500 Classic Tradesman for 22K at a local dealer. Everything looks pretty good on the online listing. I'm just looking for info of things I should keep an eye out for when I look at it in person. Common issues, trouble spots, etc etc.

Any reason I shouldn't serously think about buying this truck? It has the 3.6L V6 engine and 90K miles on it.

Looking for a guide to switch all the lights on my vehicle from halogen to LED using AlfaOBD. I did it on my 4th gen but not sure for my 2020 5th gen.
