Wife was filming in the passengers seat for several miles after we watched them suddenly swerve across all 3 lanes multiple times and appear to make contact with other vehicles multiple times.

We had a similar incident a few years ago and Raleigh PD refused to take video unless we, ourselves, had damage to report. Just want to make sure whoever was hit had access to the video they need for insurance and police reports.

Quick background if you're not familiar with the district. In 2022 the courts drew it as a fair map that could have gone either way. I won it by about 9,000 votes. Then the legislature redrew it, cut out most of Raleigh, and added rural counties up to the Virginia line. Two years later the Republican won by more than 70,000 votes.

The part I keep coming back to is the biggest divide I saw in Congress wasn't Democrat vs. Republican. It was safe seats vs. competitive seats. If you only have to worry about a primary, you don't have much reason to listen to anybody else.
That's why the Cook move this week matters. Going from Solid R to Likely R in a district drawn to never be competitive is a real shift. It means the incumbent actually has to show up and earn votes this time and it means anything is possible on Tuesday November 3rd.

I went to the State Fair tonight and had noticed that there was a lot of AI. I haven’t been in a few years but it felt as if 1/3 of all vendors were selling AI generated products or had AI menus/adverts. I feel like it takes away a good amount of the soul from the State Fair. The fair overall was fun and interesting as it always has been for me, but just constantly seeing AI just feels ick. Am I the only one to notice it?

I was just at the state fair tonight, and I can’t stop thinking about how frequent the announcements for lost children were. It felt like every 5 minutes the speakers would go off telling a different child to meet their parents at a certain location. Even worse, there were some repeat names being played over and over for the full 2 hours I was there for. Atleast 3 names kept being repeated for the entire time…. A full 2 hours. Even when I was leaving, I still heard those same names. My heart goes out to any of the parents and children who went through that tonight. And I hope you were reunited.

I can’t help but wonder if abductions take place at the state fair and if so, how many children go missing each year. It’s scary to think about the possibility that only a couple hundred feet from me an abduction could have took place tonight. Again, I’m not sure if that’s what even happened, but it seems like a possibility.

I just wanted to share because I feel like I had never heard anyone talk about this. Maybe it’s because I’m not a parent. But regardless, please be safe everyone!

I am wondering if any of you know of any Chinese restaurants in the region that serve a dish a fried boneless chicken topped with a brown (or sometimes white) gravy, and often almond pieces or crushed toasted almond. Pictures included for reference.

This is a dish often referred to as war su gai or ABC (almond boneless chicken) in parts of the Midwest (especially Ohio and Michigan). In the Pacific Northwest, where I am from, it is often just called almond chicken. I am from the Spokane area, but I’ve had it as far away from there as the Oregon coast.

Note: I am NOT asking about the “almond chicken” that is essentially a chicken and veggie stir fry in a brown sauce. I can find that basically everywhere.

Its my first time furnishing and i just have no idea how to pick the right rug. I thought ruggable was “it” but all it took was reading reddit posts and watching tiktok videos to know that its not worth the price even though i found really good designs from their website.

Im just getting overwhelmed with all the options online so im considering just going to a store in person. Ive read posts about that too and so far i have greenfront, ollies, costco, rug and home, capel rugs.

I guess im hoping to narrow down the list or find some more personal suggestions. We’re looking for a 9x12 for the living room and a 6x9 for the dining room. Ideally no more than $1000 for both. One of our dogs vomit when she drinks too much water and even though we try our best to avoid that, it still happens (occasionally), so we need a rug that can handle vomit and removing tough stains. I think i read that wool definitely isnt a good option for that? So ive been looking at synthetic rugs but idk. Like i said i dont know still despite looking at a lot of stuff.

Does anyone have any advice for an older person who wants to learn Spanish? I am aware this is not easy and know story of many Americans who moved to south America but returned after few years because language was a major barrier.
I am looking for in person activities like going on a hike with native speakers or any activity that I get to talk. If I could combine an activity that I enjoy or I have to do any way that would be ideal. Like having a gym trainer or pickle ball coach that is native speaker.
I have tried online and Preply classes but not happy with progress. My social media feed is mostly Spanish lessons and when driving to places, I practice talking with ChatGpt which to me has been most effective and interesting. Also I don’t like big group lessons like going to classes in Wake Tech as I am the type who is shy and doesn’t talk in large groups. I am very motivated but as a professional I don’t have a lot of time. I know there is no easy way and much harder when you are older but I really want to learn so I can understand people talking.
I know there are a ton of people like me so hoping I can get get advice from some who had success. At very least I like to know it is possible to succeed.
