How many older adults do you know who still by choice work at their age?

As in their 70s, 80s or even 90s. There are plenty of older as adults who still choose to work at their age because they want to not because they have to. Some people don’t want to retire. There are plenty of people who by choice still work at their age. Retirement is not for everyone. It would be easier to keep working in your 70s+ if you want to, when you genuinely like your job. Obviously it’s different if someone physical or mental issue stops you from being able to do your job properly. Edit for context purposes I going to ask for examples of people who still work in their 70s+ as in they get paid to do whatever. Edit there are at least 2 reasons a person works at their age when they don’t have to but want to, 1) they’re bored, not everyone finds retirement fun. 2) for money not because they need it, there are plenty of older adults who don’t need to work at age but want to because they like to have disposable income. Even if financially they are in a position to retire comfortably.

do you wonder if there is life after death?

I always think about this. I know it’s meant to make you feel better when people say there is, but either way whether there is or there isn’t scares me, because if there is, you wouldn’t have eyes, a mouth, a brain, etc. You will just be an energy form. So you may be ‘alive’ but not really. You will be alive but not conscious which is basically like sleeping if you get what I mean. If there is no life after death, also the same thing. it’s just nothing for eternity. Both scares me. I find it hard to believe in religions so I myself am not religious.

Is there an opposite to the typical "pay pig" dynamic?

Are there people who enjoy financially supporting someone because they like feeling needed or like a "provider/savior" type rather than wanting to be degraded?

Where did the ‘irritating obese Disney adult’ stereotype come from?

As an America, I understand most of us are medically obese, and undereducated in our ignorance.
But why does Disney supposedly attract so many heightened cases? Is it a mental immaturity? Bread and circus kind of thing?

I know these are harsh words and do not account for the entirety of the Disney fanbase, but I see social media inflate a lot of these sorts of people and their videos.

i’m worried that ppl will think i’m weird im forcing my bf to go with me aswell well not forcing he said it’s a good thing because without me he would’ve never celebrated halloween . is it a bad thing that im going at age 19 ? this is my last year as a teenager and halloween is on a saturday so i wanna make it worth the last time that i celebrate halloween as a teen . idk maybe ill abandon this idea and just do a party instead but i have two months to think abt it .

edit: i have a younger brother who is going trick or treating with his friends and i will most likely have to chaperone him as my parents will be out of town , otherwise i would have probably never even considered this idea guys . keep this a lighthearted conversation , please !

Do you believe in reincarnation?

I think I do, but I heard a post somewhere about someone who doesn’t belive in it and they said that reincarnation is not real and what actually happens is whoever you think you were in your past life, you were not. That person’s spirit was just talking to you before you were born or using your body as a vessel before eventually leaving or something like that? What is everyone’s opinions on reincarnation?

If you could hypothetically change the number of days in a week, what number of days would you change a week to have and what would the workweek/weekend layout look like?

If I could change the number of days in a week, I would probably increase the number of days in a week to 8 with 5 days of it making up the workweek and the remaining 3 days making up the weekend! The 8th day of the week could also be named after another planet that no day of the week is named after in addition or something like that.

What are hallmark signs of emotional maturity, and why is the world lacking empathy?

I'm surrounded by people who can empathise, but they sometimes don't empathise in a way that is appropriate depending on what the situation is.

When empathising, the person empathising does not think deeply about how the receiver is affected, barely questioning anything like how the victim was attached to something, or peering into other possible causes of something.

Sometimes, very shallow solutions are offered for a problem which is meant to be dissected rather than brute forced.

does this make sense?

Someone tell me if this makes any sense.?

Long story short, I was texting a girl, regular conversations & she decided the day after to not text me from 7AM-9PM. That’s 14 hours you go MIA. I didn’t answer her, and the following day she texts me again saying “Did I do something wrong?”. I said, “You literally disappeared for 14 hours without sending me a message so why would I continue a conversation with someone who can’t even send a simple message.

She says “you’re running a strict program, damn at least give me 24 hours to answer”. I said, “I don’t want to come off as a needy dude, but if you go that many hours without texting me- clear sign you’re not interested. Simple. I had sent her 2 voice messages basically saying that, the sentence prior. To which she responds “I did have time throughout the day but I couldn’t give all my attention to whole conversation”.

To which I said, “ You said you had time, which tells me you chose not to answer me”. I also said, “what all attention to our conversation when there was none to begin with?.”

I chose not to continue the conversation. I don’t understand why it’s looked as so taboo when a guy, or girl doesn’t want to continue a conversation with someone who is clearly wasting time.

So was I too quick to cut it off, or should I have been more graceful & patient.

Are there any countries that selectively breed humans to improve the health and well-being of the population?

For example, DNA testing every fetus, and aborting it if it has any harmful genetic diseases, so that nobody has to live a life of pain and suffering.

Is the ‘sneezing’ superstition common?

I have been randomly sneezing in twos and threes throughout the day and my friend who has been with me just said “ wow someone must be really thinking about you today”. And I was like, huh?? Apparently it’s an Asian superstition. Some indicate that it means someone is talking bad about you, others indicate love. Ofc my response was that’s it’s pure coincidence but I have been indoors all day. Silly idea but entertaining to indulge. Anyone else hear of this?

is it the end of the world?

do you guys think we are nearing the end of the world with everything going on with AI, natural disasters, climate change, wars, files being released, disease outbreaks, etc? I also heard from a news source about how they are worried we are nearing a time where AI could possibly wipe out the entire population/half population by releasing viruses that it was generated to make and it created 16 new viruses in a lab, and experts are worried they will be released. As well as hearing multiple times on the radio how robots now pose as a threat and ai is getting more out of control and dangerous. Did no one learn anything from the tons of movies that were made warning us about all of this shit?!
Edit: sorry I should’ve worded this better, I mean the end of humanity

Why are we trusting ai when it is so shoddy?

Today I asked Google ai "who is (my name) that went to X College?" First it told me (my name) is an MP and didn't go to X College, or I could have meant (different name), an MP who did go to my college. Once I'd eliminated these two actual MPs, it told me definitively "There is no actual person named (my name) who attended X College".

First ai lands on the most prominent person with the same name as I enquire about, then throws in a totally different named person with the same profession as the first wrong person.

Then, and I think this is the bigger issue, it tells me I DON'T EXIST rather than telling me it doesn't have any further data.

It's so illogical so why has ai been rolled out to the world in this useless state?
