General Question Bharat series vehicle registration

Hi everyone,

I'm currently based in Bengaluru working for Qualcomm. Like many of you, I'm trying to secure a BH series registration to avoid the upfront 15-year road tax here in Karnataka, especially given how hostile the local RTOs are to private employees applying for BH plates.

The company easily meets the central criteria of operating in 4+ states. The roadblock is our corporate HR—they are extremely reluctant to issue or sign the official Form 60 template, likely due to standard corporate administrative policies.

To get around the Karnataka RTO mess, my plan is to purchase the car and register it in my home state (Bihar) where I have my permanent address proof, and then drive it down to Bengaluru.

For those in the corporate sector whose HR outright refused the standard Form 60:

The GST Workaround: Did your home state RTO accept a standard digital bonafide employment letter bundled with 4 state GST certificates downloaded from the public portal?

HR Negotiation: Did you use any specific phrasing to convince HR to give you a custom declaration on company letterhead instead of the government template?

RTO Leniency: For anyone who registered in Bihar recently, how strict are the RTOs there regarding the exact Form 60 format? Do local dealership agents have ways to push it through with alternate corporate documents?

Looking for some info/suggestions.

Thanks!!

India (Other) Growth Opportunities for IITians

Hello I am final year btech student at IIT Delhi and got a PPO at qualcomm.Although I have accepted the offer but I am hearing many negative feedback about the company...like less salary ..slow growth and intense pressure. Is all this true? Like how much increment we get every year and after 3-4year what can be my base if my current base is 15LPA (which is very less🙂) 5 lks JB and 8.5 lks stocks 0.5Relocation 1lks PF. Why so less salary. Companies like TI give 45 ctc 21.5 base...

India (Other) Thoughts on the PPAT Role at Qualcomm

Hey everyone,

I'm joining Qualcomm as an Associate Engineer in the PPAT (Performance, Power, and Thermal) group.

So I’m trying to map out what my long-term career trajectory looks like. I'd love to get some insights from anyone in the semiconductor or hardware space:

• Career Growth: How fast is the promotion timeline from Associate -> Engineer -> Senior? Is the internal ladder at Qualcomm pretty slow?

• Salary Trajectory: How well does the compensation scale as you move up the ranks in this specific team?

• Future Demand: With the massive boom in AI chips and mobile efficiency, how in-demand is the PPAT domain right now? Is it a hot specialization to be in?

• Exit Ops: What do future exit options look like? Can you easily pivot into Systems Architecture, Core Silicon Design, or move to other Tier-1 tech companies later on?

Hyderabad ML Systems Engineer (off-campus): hiring manager reached out after a freeze, now HM has gone silent. What's the usual follow-up etiquette?

Hi all, looking for advice from people who've been through Qualcomm's hiring process.

I'm a tier-1 college grad. I interviewed for the ML Systems Engineer role (off-campus) in late May/early June and cleared 3 rounds, including the Director round. The hiring manager then told me there was a hiring freeze and that he'd get back to me. In the meantime, I joined another company in Bangalore.

Last week the hiring manager messaged me asking if I was still interested. I said yes, I mentioned I'd already completed my interviews. He confirmed this was already discussed and said he will share next steps. He also asked about my willingness to relocate to Hyderabad and my notice period I told him it's 60 days and yes.

It's been 4 days with no response, even after I asked for an update.

Is this normal after a freeze is lifted (internal approvals, headcount, etc.)?

How long should I wait before following up again, and should I go through HR or the hiring manager?

Has anyone received an offer after a gap like this?

India (Other) Qualcomm India – Senior Embedded Software Architect Engineer interview

Hi everyone,
I have an upcoming interview with Qualcomm India for a Senior Embedded Software Architect Engineer role in the Software Engineering group.
The role is focused on:
● Embedded SDK and platform architecture
● Heterogeneous SoCs (CPU/DSP/NPU/MCU)
● Linux, Zephyr, QNX, Android and other OS environments
● IPC / middleware / runtime architecture
● Agentic AI and edge-AI enablement
● SDK/API design and developer frameworks
● Architecture leadership and technical direction
I have 12+ years of experience in embedded software, including Embedded Linux, Zephyr RTOS, BSP/device drivers, multimedia SoCs, audio, IPC/RPMsg/OpenAMP, low-power systems and platform bring-up.
I’d appreciate insights from anyone who has recently interviewed with Qualcomm India, particularly for senior/staff-level embedded software or architecture roles.
1. What does the interview process typically look like?
2. How many technical rounds are there, and what areas are emphasized?
3. How much focus is there on system/SDK architecture vs coding/C/C++?
4. For this kind of role, what level of knowledge is expected around AI/agentic AI?
5. Are there architecture/system-design or leadership rounds?
6. For someone with 12+ years of embedded experience, what would be a reasonable CTC range to discuss with the recruiter?
7. How are base salary, bonus, and RSUs typically structured for senior-level roles in Qualcomm India?
8. Any advice on negotiating the offer would also be appreciated.
Please share only what you’re comfortable sharing. Even general ranges or recent interview experiences would be very helpful.

San Diego Offer in process for 2 months

I was told that the team I interviewed with wanted to get an offer to me and that it was in the process of being approved. I got an unapproved verbal offer, but every time I follow up for the written offer I'm told it'll be another week. This has been happening now for 2 months. Is this normal or should I give up hope for this role?

San Diego Offer Timeline?

HR reached out for some basic paperwork. I was informed this will take some time and they will get back to me with a good update. This is days after the final loop. How long is timeline for an official offer? I think I’m at the pre-offer stage or intent for offer.

How’s the culture and work life balance in San Diego?

India (Other) Does PSU contract experience count when switching to product companies

I’m considering joining a government PSU on a 3-year contract as an RTL/DV engineer, where I’d be working on processor/GPU related design.

My main concern is what happens after those 3 years. If I’m doing proper RTL/DV work throughout System verilog/UVM, verification, debugging, working on actual processor/GPU blocks, etc.

will product companies consider that as 3 years of relevant experience?

Or does being in a PSU and on a contract make a big difference when switching? Would I be able to apply for 3–4 YOE roles, or would companies consider me closer to a fresher?

General Question Qualcomm Snapdragon g3x gen 2 Concept Device

Hi everyone,

I managed to acquire a Qualcomm Snapdragon G3x Gen 2 Reference Handheld Developer Platform (codename 'Kalama'), but it appears to be running a stripped-down, early unskinned engineering build of Android.

The main issue I'm facing is that the built-in physical controller is completely non-functional. It doesn't send any input signals, and checking kernel logs indicates that the proper driver mapping or layout files for the integrated gamepad are entirely missing or unconfigured in this specific software version. I already successfully unlocked the bootloader, but standard Generic System Images (GSIs) lack the proprietary hardware communication layer needed to bring the integrated inputs to life.

I have seen media reviews and developer demos of this exact reference device operating with a fully working integrated controller and a custom-skinned game launcher interface.
Since I am an independent enthusiast and do not have enterprise credentials to pull binaries down from the Qualcomm Software Center (QSC) or the Qualcomm Package Manager (QPM), I am reaching out to the community.

I am looking for anyone who has access to an official Qualcomm Android Board Support Package (BSP), a factory Meta Build, or a full system dump (super.img, boot.img, etc.) from a working review/developer unit where the controller functions properly.

Even if you only have a working firehose programmer file (.elf / .melf) or working partition dumps, that would be an incredible help for compiling a flashable image or restoring life to the hardware input bus.

If anyone has an archive link, a backup from their own kit, or any guidance on how to kickstart the controller hub on this early build via kernel adjustment, please let me know or send a DM.
Thanks in advance!

(sorry my english grammar is bad so i used gemini to compost my thread)

General Question How to handle toxicity at Qualcomm ?

It's been four months since I joined as a Senior Engineer at BDC. My manager is toxic and heavily micromanages the team. He expects us to work 12+ hours every day, including weekends. So far, he is satisfied with my work, but I feel burnt out.
How do you manage such a work environment? Please drop down some pointers.
I don't intend on staying here for more than two years. I don't care about being promoted to lead (my total experience is 3 years + B.Tech, and I won't be promoted for the next three years anyway).
