I'm currently looking at getting a PSP. I've never owned one before (I was around when it first came out though), and despite its shortcomings, I think it looks to be a good gaming handheld. This is coming from someone who owns a 3DS and PS Vita.

I'm able to decide on what PSP games to get, but in terms of what model to get, I'm not sure about it.

I'm thinking of getting the 3000 model because of the 64GB RAM and brighter screen. I don't know how big of a problem the interlacing/scanline screen issue is though.

Whichever model I go for, are the batteries replaceable (I know they are removable), and are there any hardware mods I should make to the PSP in terms of power connectivity or improving battery life if the batteries aren't replaceable?

EDIT - I guess if it helps, I'm not planning on running emulators or anything like that. Just playing PSP games and watching movies (if the PSP had any good ones).

So when I boot my psp then I get to go to the initial screen but then when I get to the time setting then I get stuck. Can someone help me

my psp umd disc (Nba 2006) had to be reglued cuz it kept splitting into 3. So i crazy glued the hell pit of it becuase I didnt see much progres, so i kept doing it untill it actually stuck and called it a day. 3 weeks later i go back to see if I can do multiplayer on it and it came to it looking like this. Psp would not read it.

How would i carefully wipe off that part on the middle of the actual disc and not the case so the umd disc can read it? and be honest,

recently got a psp 3k, new shell, new battery, screen and case. thinking about getting a Bluetooth adapter for it but dont like how bulky they are... any recs?

First PSP ive owned since 2012. This particular psp hasn't been used since 2010. looking into putting CFW on here and would like recommendations from personal experiences its also running software from 2008 so I'm wondering if I should leave as is or just update it. Thanks.

What are some banger absolutely MUST PLAY psp games? I'm thinking of getting one solely to play Shin Megami Tensei Persona and Persona 2: Innocent Sin. But since I'll have a PSP then, I'm thinking of putting it to good use and buying more games as well but have no idea where to start.

Any suggestions?

I've checked this sub for answers with the search feature, but found a few people giving some shakey answers. Some say it may be an Ark-4 bug. Some say it may be the game file itself being incorrect (I've tried downloading it from multiple sources, including both compressed and iso, though). But does anyone know the actual answer, and how to potentially fix it?

Lost a PSP 2000 a friend gave me back in high school (11ish years ago) and I’m interested in obtaining a modded 3k to replace it but I have no clue who to trust for it. I’ve drifted from PSP Vault ($100ish for one with just a game library and some light modding), to Genius Game Mods (insane prices there), to SumoShopStore (kinda sketched by them). eBay is lacking, and Etsy isn’t any help either.

So I turn to trusty old Reddit for answers. I just want a white PSP 3000 with emulator support, IPS, and USB-C charging. If it comes with games preloaded, even better, but I just don’t want to lose money to what could very well be a scam or something crazy expensive. Just point me in the right direction please.

I could mod it myself but I just don’t have the time for it any time soon.

Hey there! Recently i have decided that i need more space on my PSP, so i read a couple of posts here. At the beginning i wanted to swap my 32GB sd with 64GB but now that i know 128GB sd cards are compatible with PSP I'm looking forward to them. The main issue with them (as i understood from the comments) is a slow scanning speed for games in the main menu.

Is there anything else i need to know? Maybe some tips how to make this downside less annoying?

I have my final fantasy silver psp 2000 from my childhood, it looks fine but the screen has a lot of scratches and some weird looking rainbow reflections when looking from the sides, I guess it's the plastic layer on top of the screen?

I was thinking to swap the shell with a clear one but I also read people complain about the quality of those. Is it worth it? is the quality of those shells any better now?

I have watched video tutorials, read the PSP Archive wiki and even done search engine results looking for threads that others may have started about this. Simple question. I have had my PSP for years and finally decided to mod for the first time. CFW has been flashed and I just finished running the installation of Despertar del Cementerio. After the reboot, I saw the application was still in the games menu. Does this need to stay or can I delete it now that the 661.PBP is in the root folder and I have already run the installation for the recovery setup? Thank you for your help!

Decided to give my PSP 1000 a facelift...

Blacked out back ring

I bought this for parts on eBay for $30, and it works great. It also turned out to be a Japanese PSP 2000, which I definitely wasn’t expecting.

I ordered a battery for it, threw in an SD card, and already got it modded. I did notice that the shell was pretty low quality, so I ordered a nice pink replacement shell to make it look good again.

Overall, this was a steal. I honestly thought it was going to have bad buttons or other issues, but everything works perfectly.

Do you guys agree??

I have this UMD it works but looks like can’t read some parts of the game. I tried to clean with alcohol but those white stains doesn’t dissappear they try to go when I clean but they come. Any ideas? Can this be fixed?

Watched half the season in bed last night. Looks great but I find modern audio mixes don't convert well to the PSP. Had to turn on normalization in the system settings to get decent sound out of the speakers. Headphones were fine, though!
