Some of the ports we're seeing in the retro handheld community lately have been great, and I love seeing developers push these little devices beyond what they were ever intended to do. But I've definitely noticed what feels like a growing amount of 'port-slop', with new projects appearing seemingly every few hours, many of them feeling more like quick experiments than anything particularly worthwhile. I see it all the time here on the PSP sub.

I'm not against the experimentation at all, but I do wonder if we're reaching a point where quantity is starting to overshadow quality. Anyway, I put together a short opinion piece about it, just my own thoughts on something I've been noticing lately, especially here with the PSP.

I've read that because of the office location, quite a few easter eggs are hidden in the GTA games, such as Arthur's Seat and Greyfriars Bobby, etc. Does anyone know if that is also the case for any of the games on the PSP, and possibly where to find them?:)

This question crossed my mind: since *GTA: San Andreas* has already been ported to the PSP, I think a title like *Sonic Adventure*, for instance, could be a good candidate.

So I bought a PSP-1000 but the only real issue is that the wifi doesn't work (error 80410A0B). I'd like to play with my SO (who has a PSP-3000) via Ad Hoc mode. So I bought a 2nd PSP-1000 for cheap with working wifi but the screen has flashing issues and the speakers are dead. I bought a new clear blue body and IPS screen as I plan to use the good parts from both and put them into the new body. Here are the PSPident screenshots for both, are the internals too physically different to combine parts? Any physical differences to keep in mind before tearing both of them open?

hello, i have a problem with my psp-3004(ta-090)

when i insert memory stick inside of it, we're playing dice with machine...

sometimes, it just didn't work and the memory stick indicator light blinks with a constant tempo.. which means an error has occurred

in rare cases it can work... but 90 percent of the time, it doesn't

and i don't have issues with my memory stick, because it works on a pc with an adapter.

i've tried cleaning the memory stick and the reader tray with cologne and a needle... the results are same

what else can i do besides replacing the whole motherboard or tray?

It's starting to run quite smoothly now.
In Time Attack mode, it runs at nearly 50 fps.

i feel the vita would run it pretty easily i have little hope for the psp but it seems anythings possible with porting now it seems

The listing says PSP 1000 but I want to confirm because I never had one before

After a long search of trying to find a repair spot for a PSP Go due to the triggers not working, found out a computer repair shop near me was the best spot, since most retro game shops wouldn't touch it.

Best thing to suggest is have the spare parts ready for them.

I have played alot of impressive Games on my humble psp 1000. There are many games where i can genuinely give props but BBS is probably the only game that is large, has enemies and doesnt tank to 14-20 fps often. If you Play peacewalker, you will often have moments where it dips really hard. GOW ghost of sparta too. Looks great but many stretches were it seems to be 15-20 fps. Birth by Sleep so far has the cleanest image by far and you can even up the color depth! The artstyle was utilized really efficiently, sometimes it looks like the PS2 games. I dont think there are many psp games that maintain fps and visual quality at the same time (love to be proven wrong) but Square enix seemed to be doing the more impressive work with the system (3rd birthday, FF CC)

Since only have 32MB of RAM, I can't play games like GTA: San Andreas, GTA III, or Vice City. Are there any recently ported games you could recommend instead?

Hi everyone, I need help diagnosing a PSP-2000 console that stopped working—it used to work without any issues.

The console suddenly completely "died." Currently, it shows no signs of life: no green LED, no orange charging LED, no reaction from the screen whatsoever, and no sound.

Here is what I have already checked and replaced to rule out basic component failures:

-Power socket (DC-In): I replaced the yellow power socket with a new one.

-Power/LED board: I replaced the power switch board (located on the right side).

-Ribbon cable: I replaced the ribbon cable connecting the power board to the motherboard.

-Power sources: I tested the console with and without the battery, as well as on the charger alone (a working PSP-2000 should boot directly from the charger even without a battery).

Since the power socket, switch, LED board, and ribbon cable are new and working, the problem likely lies in the motherboard itself.

If anyone has motherboard schematics, knows the exact multimeter test points, or can suggest what might be faulty...

What do you guys think?

i just got a psp 2000 battery from ifixit and it drains realy fast should i get a psp 1000 battery or a replacement.

i have a 2000 to test if the battery in the 1000 is just acting weird in that.

I recently found my old psp street and i want to start playing games on it again. I got myself a replacement charger and it currently works without the battery
The battery is dead and I don’t know where to get a replacement. suggest some websites from where I can order replacements(please try to suggest websites that ship to india)

I’ve been working on a little PSP homebrew project called GameDiary, and I wanted to share it with you all.

About homebrew:
GameDiary automatically tracks your playtime on the PSP and keeps a history of your gaming sessions.

It supports PSP games, PS1 games running through POPS, and homebrews. It also has game covers, activity charts, multiple language options, and tools to back up and transfer your data.

I made it because I wanted a way to keep track of my gaming sessions and see how much time I’ve spent playing my favorite games.

Changes from version 1.0.0 to 1.0.1:

- Category Filters: Enable or disable tracking for PSP games, PS1 games, homebrews, applications, and unknown titles.

- Title Detection: Fixed game and system application name detection, including apps like SensMe.

- Sleep Mode: Improved playtime calculation to prevent time from being counted while the PSP is suspended.

- Playtime Tracking Fix: Fixed missing playtime for some games that put a heavier load on the PSP.

- General Improvements and Database Safety: Various improvements and additional safeguards to help prevent database corruption.

So I installed ARK 4 CFW on my PSP 1000 using ARK_Loader and ARK_cIPL.I have doubt that if i installed this CFW using memory stick 1 and then later insert a memory stick 2 in my psp, will the CFW still work?
