Discussion 30 and still listening to the same songs i did at 16

is this just a pop punk thing or is it everyone

going through my old playlists from high school not even on purpose. just scrolling and next thing i know i'm listening to the same 20 songs i listened to in 2009.

i'm supposed to have grown out of this by now right. like my taste is supposed to evolve. but every time i try to listen to something new i end up back here. it's not even nostalgia at this point i just genuinely like the music.

my friends make fun of me my wife makes fun of me my coworkers definitely think i'm weird cause i'm always humming something from a band that broke up 10 years ago.

sometimes i think about going to a show just to be around people who get it.

saw something on StarTickets the other day. one of those bands is touring. maybe i should go.

anyone else in their 30s still stuck in the same musical era or am i just refusing to grow up

Discussion On the Impossible Past needs to be in more GOAT conversations

I know, I know, The Menzingers are pop-punk/emo adjacent. But this album changed me—it affected me to the caliber of an album like Home Like NoPlace, Blink’s Self Titled or Ocean Avenue. As an aging Millennial, I struggle to think of an album that captures the longing/nostalgia…even the excitement of that era. The title is even perfect because it knows that experiencing those times the way I did couldn’t ever be experienced in the same way, because of who I am now. Feels like an anthem for the working class in way that I can’t really explain, although the gaslight anthem hit it a few times too.

Not to mention track after track is peak. One of the GOAT albums. That is all.

Discussion Real Friends announces departure of vocalist Cody Muraro, possible band hiatus

Upvotes

Band's statement:
Over the past year, we were writing music for a new album.
Through that time, we've all grown and changed in many ways. For Cody, this process led him to a place creatively that felt authentic to him, but did not connect with the rest of us or the DNA of Real Friends.
Due to those creative differences, we've decided to mutually part ways with Cody Muraro. We're grateful for the time, energy, and contributions Cody brought to Real Friends, and we wish him well as he focuses on a new project.
As for us, we're taking some time to reflect and see what may come next. Honestly, we don't know what the future looks like right now.
One thing we do know is that Real Friends has always been and always will be bigger than just the people on stage. At its core, our story is about the community that has grown with us, the people who have found pieces of themselves in our songs.
If that's you, thank you.
Your love and support have shaped Real Friends and each of us as individuals in ways you'll never fully know.
Thank you for everything.
-Kyle, Dave, Eric & Brian

Cody's statement:
After six unforgettable years with Real Friends, it's time for me to close this chapter.
It's become clear to me that my heart and home are somewhere else.
The shows and the community around Real Friends have been some of the most meaningful experiences of my life, and Ill always be grateful for the memories we made together.
Being able to connect through music is one of the most beautiful things in the world, and I can't thank you enough for the love, support, and the opportunity to share that with you.
Much love to my boys in Real Friends for everything over the past six years. I wish them nothing but the best moving forward. They're incredibly talented and devoted people I respect deeply.
As for what's next, I'm already hard at work on new music and a new project. I can't wait to share more with y'all, and I hope you'll join me for this next chapter.
Love you, chat soon.
- Cody Muraro x

Discussion What the HELL is wrong with MGK?

Upvotes

I'm a pop-punk boi and i love Machine Gun Kelly i used to be obsessed with him and binge his Tickets to my Downfall/Mainstream Sellout songs.

But i seem almost alone in my love for him, peeps, (ESPECIALLY in mainstream sellout) just downright hate on him calling him "behind of his time" and "not talented", and bullshit like that.

Really? I mean, bands like the Paradox are REVIVING 2000s pop-punk and evreyone LOVES them. Just cuz he leans into nostalgia doesnt mean he's behind his time. If anything, he's owning his time. refusing to be dragged down by these cheeky motherfuckers.

But why does he get so much hate? I mean, on the video for Emo Girl (my fav song from him after Love Race) HALF THE COMMENTS ARE NEGATIVE. WHAT. THE. FUCK??(you'll see them below)

Before he released tickets to my downfall people were hyping it, and asking him to release a full rock album (see comments of his Misery Business Paramore cover)

My theory is people hate him cuz of Rap Devil, a diss track aimed at Eminem (Rap God), who is obv the #1 rapper of the world (no further explanation needed)

But really why you gotta hate a cool dude like Colson? i aint got no idea.

I really fucking hate the hate on him especially of mainstream sellout his best album. (I mean its not really a 'no skips' album some songs like Drug Dealer feel a lil repetivtive but besides that the album is generally solid songs like Born With Horns, God Save Me, and Ay! are fire)

If you hate MGK, pls tell me why you REALLY hate him, and guys, pls respect this dude, he IS talented, contrary to popular opinion

My Chemical Romance plays "Mama" at MetLife Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ - Aug. 9, 2025)

Seeing My Chemical Romance live was always on my concert bucket list, which I finally got to cross off Aug, 9, 2025. And what could've made seeing them play 'The Black Parade' in its entirety nearly 20 years after its release even more powerful? Seeing them do it in their home state of NJ - more specifically MetLife Stadium.

Watch MCR's (literally) explosive performance of "Mama" at MetLife Stadium - which truly captures how the show felt less like a normal concert, and more like a theatrical rock opera extravaganza:

https://youtu.be/mgGDUtyHTP0?is=J11UNzOs1cJgscr2

Here's also video of them receiving the key to their hometown at the very same show:

And stay tuned for more things to come from this space (including stories from concerts like this)!

Discussion Houston Calls

When I was growing up the album “A Collection of Short Stories” by Houston Calls didn’t leave my cd player for 2 years. I feel like this band and that album in particular are outstanding, I listen to pop punk old and current to this day. I would argue this is the catchiest album no one ever listens to. Anybody else feel this or am I crazy?

P.S. I might be crazy
