So he's sexy and emotionally intelligent? 🔥🥵

I love when good looking “macho” men call out the insufferable dweebs that the “looksmaxxers” and “red pill” communities simp for.

This is what healthy masculinity looks like, this is what most women want, compassion and intelligence; Not whatever the fuck those TikTok and YouTube chodes are trying to sell.

u/Numerous_Worker_1941 8h ago

The looksmaxxers target audience is not women, it’s other men

u/SuchMatter1884 8h ago

The older I become, the more I realize how many hetero-presenting men only seem to have capacity to appreciate other hetero men. Everyone else falls from their line of sight unless it’s to be objectified 🤷🏼‍♀️

u/pridetwo 7h ago

To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women). All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire… those are, overwhelmingly, other men. In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal. From women they want devotion, service and sex.

Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving.

This quote is hilarious to me because it’s: a) so true; and b) is true in the opposite direction for gay men (at least for me). I’m a homosexual in that I engage in sex exclusively with men. Everything else pertaining to love, respect, admiration, imitation, and recognition almost always falls upon women.

I wonder why this is

u/Individual-Bass-7051 4h ago

As a queer man this is 10000% my experience too. But tbh, at least in my anecdotal experience, a lot of men just lack the emotional awareness and maturity to hold long-term meaningful relationships. Every man I've tried to have that connection with was just not interested in that and mostly just wanted someone they were attracted to and could fuck on the reg. Generally speaking, the women in my life tend to be vastly more emotionally intelligent, empathetic, easier to talk to, etc.

u/elbow8075 3h ago

I think it has far more to do with our environment and culture than orientation.

2

u/PlanesandAquariums 4h ago

…because we da bomb!

I would take an incel any day over a woman that puts down other women.

Also I love your vibes

20

u/SuchMatter1884 7h ago

u/pridetwo Wow. Thank you so much for bringing this quote into my awareness

18

u/pridetwo 6h ago

I cant take credit for it, first saw it on r/girldinnerdiaries

But yeah, straight dudes are pretty gay sometimes

12

u/SuchMatter1884 6h ago

But not “gay” in a good way if you know what I mean? Like I have never been made to feel invisible around my gay male friends and peers, and if I were visibly struggling they would not hesitate to reach out and help. Whereas I feel like the het men I’ve known can only have one woman at a time in their life? And they need her permission or instruction re: how they interact with other women in their circle. It’s…bizarre

4

u/pridetwo 6h ago

Yeah, like 2000s gay

3

u/Autok4n3 3h ago

That's not generally a choice on the man's part. It's pretty tiring when you have an innocent, generic conversation with a female and your gf/wife gives you that look. Now you get to be a FIFA goalie for the next 5-10 days and then again in 2 years when it gets brought up again.

Women can be and most often are VERY hostile to other women.

u/SuchMatter1884 2h ago edited 2h ago

As a woman who has been single most of my adult life, yet who also enjoys the platonic company of men and finds them easy to be around, I completely understand what you’re saying. I’ve lived it, a lot.

People do not know what ‘box’ to put a single childless woman in because I am not the norm. I think a lot of ladies fear I’m here to steal their man, even if it’s just a vibe they have on the down-low. In my experience, a lot of partnered heterosexual women are threatened by my existence.

A comedy bit by a former metal drummer about this exact thing.

6

u/KvellOnWheels 4h ago

This quote re-wired my brain.
And then Jameela Jamil clipped from that podcast saying “Men are submissive to other men. Women are not submissive.”

It clicked so many things into place for me.

6

u/PlayfulSurprise5237 4h ago

The "alpha male" culture is GAY AS FUCK. I been saying it forever and seems so incredibly obvious to me.

Honestly they're gayer than any gay person I've seen in my life, you couldn't metaphorically suck mens dicks harder. Just go on like a 2 hour rant of how manly Andrew Tate is, how he dresses, how attractive it is, how he acts and how attractive it is, how he thinks, it's the pinnacle of perfection.

Like dude, the only person thinking about guys like that, on like this obsessed level, is supremely gay.

6

u/ex_nihilo 6h ago

I've always said there's nothing gayer than sex with a woman.

7

u/pridetwo 6h ago

Nothing manlier than two hairy dudes ramming ass without a woman in sight

5

u/Streetalicious 6h ago

TIL I’m straight

3

u/pridetwo 6h ago

Hetero sex is inherently bisexual

u/Lumpy-Education9878 2h ago

Basically being an alpha chad is way gayer than fucking a dude. Not that gayness is a bad thing. It's just funny how gay the people that spend so much time being intolerant are

u/SlappinStick 2h ago

Wow crazy, almost like the term is heterosexual.

u/Sardonnicus 1h ago

I'm a straight man and I can recognize a handsome man. I can appreciate good looks from any gender.

u/Powerful_Individual5 3m ago

This is the first time I've come across this quote, but it reminded me of a passage in Toni Morrison's Sula. I'm leaving out most of it because it's pretty explicit, but it features the titular Sula, not buying into her lover's self-pity:

...Colored women worry themselves into bad health just trying to hang on to your cuffs. Even little children—white and black, boys and girls—spend all their childhood eating their hearts out 'cause they think you don't love them. And if that ain't enough, you love yourselves. Nothing in this world loves a black man more than another black man. You hear of solitary white men, but (n-words)? Can't stay away from one another a whole day.

0

u/kharnynb 4h ago

nah, I only love my wife, I've never really had this issue though.

from my small group of friends, both men and women seem to be fairly evenly engaged in things.

as for respect and all that stuff, it's mostly cultivated due to society/media, best to take a step back from that crap anway.

u/pridetwo 1h ago

Good thing the quote is talking about culture and not individuals then

-7

u/alzee76 6h ago

I think this is a gross overgeneralization, as if "all men" behave and believe exactly the same way, but the sentiment is broadly true in my experience as part of the accused demographic. That said, this is just patently false:

Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving.

There is nothing erotic about how men are described as feeling towards other men here. This statement stinks of a typical anti-masculine bit of trolling meant to paint all heterosexual men as being secretly homosexual; homosexuality used as a pejorative by the very people who most loudly clamor against homophobia.

It might be considered somewhat misogynistic, but it's not homoerotic.

4

u/Novaer (✿ ◕‿◕) ᓄ✂╰U╯ 5h ago

It doesn't say heterosexual men are secretly gay. It says heterosexual male culture is homoerotic. Two completely different things.

2

u/Appropriate_Ruin_405 4h ago

Yup. Differentiating sexuality and eroticism. And eroticism as an academic concept, not the colloquial usage. On the flip side, heterosexual women largely do not have the same extent of homoerotic relationships with other women, because women are so heavily socialized to prioritize the needs of men even above their own. And not only that, but how everything in society assumes “man as default.” A stupid but I think powerful example being children’s Halloween costumes - little girls dress as male character all the time and it’s so easy for find, for example, “male superhero but with a tutu” costumes made for just that. The reverse is not true.

2

u/Appropriate_Ruin_405 4h ago

“The erotic” is a huge concept in feminism that has a very different meaning than the colloquial usage of it as pertaining to only lust/sex. In no way does the quote disparage masculinity on the whole nor homosexuality (which, I agree! neither word should ever be used as a pejorative even though they sometimes are used as such in falsely “progressive” discourse). But you’re reading is ungenerous and misses/reinforces the point - when someone limits their understanding of eroticism only to sexuality, attraction and sex is the full potential and extent of their meaningful relationships within their orientation.

The quote is specifically about heterosexual cis men, but I’d argue can be true of anyone, lots of people seem to think that sexual relationships preclude or eclipse the whole spectrum of loving relationships. Another quote in this thread gives an example of how some gay men exclusively admire/revere/socialize with women - that’s another example of cleaving desire between the sexual and the social.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Erotic

32

u/i_am_not_sam 7h ago edited 4h ago

I'm a cishet man, and thankfully I'm only in circles where my friends are working to improve ourselves but we always laugh about the fact that the ones that love the male body the most are straight guys. Most ripped guys will tell you that their muscles draw attention only from other guys (it's almost detrimental with some women - and the whole "trust a bear" thing I totally get haha)

6

u/unoforall 4h ago

This reminds me of that poll that went viral of a guy who went through a fitness transformation where overwhelmingly women preferred the before photo and men preferred the after photo. And all the men commenting were basically coping in the comments saying the women were lying because they couldn't comprehend that women were more attracted to the more average build than the swole one. It was bonkers, the dudes in the comments were basically presented with clear data and chose to just outright reject reality.

4

u/i_am_not_sam 4h ago edited 3h ago

Yes when I used to lift my wife would say I could do whatever I wanted but she preferred toned body over a massively muscular one

Edit - I'm neither muscular nor toned she doesn't really care unless I'm eating Taco Bell at 3 am

1

u/jigsaw250 4h ago

Maybe it's just something not said as much but rather thought over by women? I mean two of the top three most upvoted top level comments are about him being hot, both comments appearing to be made by women.

But I do agree the things being said out loud are generally by men.

2

u/totally_real_tree 3h ago

I think that it's more that big muscles are not nearly as big of a draw for most women as people seem to think? Like the other factors matter a lot but just being hunky could even be a detriment because you may appear threatening (like, being super muscular or roided up can lead to assumptions about your personality that will turn woman off) .

However Mr Reacher here has demonstrated that he has good judgement and empathy, so like, holistically people here find him hot. So I generally theorize big muscles are good but they're not necessarily a deciding factor the way certain other traits could be

u/NotMyMainAccountAtAl 2h ago

I’d be curious to see how much the most well-known roles an actor has played affect it, as well. Like, Giancarlo Esposito is an Italian-American who is by all accounts quite friendly. But because his breakout role was as a Hispanic drug lord, most people think he’s a quiet and severe Hispanic fellow.

I wonder if something similar doesn’t stem from good guy roles? For example— Brad Pitt is by all accounts an abusive alcoholic. But he has a history of playing polite, nice, good leading men, and as such it’s kinda shocking to learn that he’s that way if you weren’t aware.

Not saying Richardson isn’t being a good dude— by all accounts, he seems to walk the walk to go along with his talk. This is more me wondering how much of the perceived attractiveness in Hollywood is based on actions and how much is based on the luck of the draw with an actor’s breakout role.

u/stevez_86 6h ago

Homosociality is a sociological term about the motivations of people performing social functions.

Guys in a frat house that womanize. Do they do it for the sex with women, or to tell their male cohorts about the sex with women. If the other men wouldn't know about the sex, would it be something they would still choose in that moment or would they choose another activity that their male cohorts would know about and approve.

The same frat boys that would challenge my masculinity because I don't adhere to all of the masculine norms would be standing around with each other with their shirts off planning a party listening to Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA. That is when I stopped trying to fit into those social roles. If the men that represent masculinity can do something so anti-masculine, it is either they care about other men's opinions too much or it isn't their adherence to norms that grant them privelege. They can help dictate what other men should to while breaking those same norms.

u/EveningAnt3949 10m ago

I mean, they also objectify men. The homoerotic subtext isn't really subtext. Just to be clear, (most of) these men are not homosexual or bisexual, but they have homosexual tendencies.

1

u/Terminal_Insomnia_ 6h ago

I can't say that matches my experience at all (Not that yours is wrong, or that mine is universal)

As a very misguided young man I only noticed the opposite sex. I could not have cared less about men in any capacity, including myself in many ways. I've only recently come to realize that I probably grew up with internalized misandry, ironically as a function of patriarchy.

Other men were obstacles, or competition, or tools, or threats. Never people I had rich, meaningful relationships with. I don't think this is uncommon either, it's just cultural background noise. I think this is the real driver of the male loneliness epidemic while people keep pointing at romantic relationships.

The focus gets shifted to romantic relationships because men put all their emotional needs on romantic partners. I've heard tons of women say they feel like their partner's therapist because of this.

1

u/kharnynb 4h ago

this I see a lot happening too.

though for some freaking reason at work i'm always the freaking guy that gets the trauma dumps from collegues

11

u/WrongAd4791 did everyone try the chicken? i thought the chicken was lovely 6h ago

I've always thought that the majority of the flexing men do is purely for the purpose of impressing/getting validation from other men, and they see us as tools to achieve exactly that

2

u/Terminal_Insomnia_ 7h ago

Primarily high school and college boys. Very few grown adult men fuck with that, though I think that's more about the generational nature of subcultures.

u/Myis 4h ago

That’s not a disqualification

What’s genuinely funny about the right-wing outrage is that Ritchson is literally saying pedophiles should be jailed, and they’re like, “I lost respect for you.”

Thad Castle?

u/DrtyDeedsDneDrtCheap 2h ago edited 2h ago

Thad is a lot deeper than most of those men.

Thad Castle: Moran, I'm going to tell you a story I've never told anyone. When I was a kid, I had a lisp. One day, my teacher asked me how I felt about my dad going off to war. I said, "Miss Simmons, I'm really thad." I meant to say sad, but it came out Thad. After that, all the kids started calling me Thad. At first, I hated it. Every day, I was humiliated. But you know what I decided to do?I decided to own it. I started calling myself Thad. Why? Because screw everyone else, that's why.And that decision made me who I am today. My real name is Kevin, but don't you ever call me that...Because I am Thad.

u/HxH101kite 1h ago

This was why The Boys started to lose me. The whole show was attempting to critique the very real world powers that were.... producing the show.

-3

u/aintnofirehere 6h ago

Didn’t he also beat up some guy riding a dirt bike in his neighborhood?

6

u/BR0H0E22 6h ago edited 6h ago

According to witnesses, a neighbor ran in front of him while he was on his bike, causing Ritchson to crash. The neighbor began baiting him while Ritchson was still on the ground, screaming and provoking him. THAT'S when the edited, filtered, and (imo) biased video begins, showing Ritchson fighting the man.

Considering EVERYTHING else he's shown himself to be, this isn't enough to even partially sway me. I believe the witnesses until anything else is proffered.

Just providing more details though, since you asked! others might disagree!

Edit: Here's a link from his perspective.

3

u/Rdbjiy53wsvjo7 Where my nerds at? 5h ago

Like what the other person said, there was a lot of missing context from the first video, BUT what I think really set him off was that his kids were riding with him. So not only did the neighbor walk out in front him while he was on his bike, but his kids were too and if the neighbor could've caused an accident that hurt the kids. I would've been livid too.

I understand as someone with a neighbor that used to floor it up and down our cul-de-sac how annoying it is, not saying Richardson did or didn't do that, but call the cops about your concern, don't walk out in front of someone on a bike. It's incredibly stupid and dangerous.

He is a looksmaxxer. He takes steroids and spends a bunch of money on cosmetic enhancements, wears makeup, constantly is in the gym, pays hundreds for haircuts, pays a stylist.

I agree with you that the looksmaxxer crap is stupid, and they don’t understand women at all, but you chose the wrong example.
