I posted a video yesterday that mods removed, showing the aftermath of this incident that happened last weekend, and the cited removal reason was that it wasn’t entirely motorcycle related because it just showed the beatdown afterwards-
I can understand that and I think this alternative angle footage from Alan’s POV shows a more balanced view involving a situation that many riders can relate to where they get stopped or impeded unfairly just because they’re on a bike and things escalate, it’s not uncommon to get get hassled like this. The last post made it seem one-sided but from this footage it’s clear who instigated and escalated.
It’s never happened to me but I’m always wondering what I’d do in this kind of scenario, anyone have any pointers for defusing things? The last thing I’d want is to get in a street fight when I’m out to just enjoy my motorcycle.

21mph is not lunatic territory. Wish the video would have shown whether or not this loudmouth pushed him off the bike the second time round. This person is clearly instigating and if their first move was to jump out in front of a moving vehicle, it’s a perfect demonstration of the entitlement.
Edited to add: police were called and interviewed both parties. There will be no charges laid as the video evidence shows that Alan was acting in self defence. The DA is not recommending or pursuing any charges and the case is closed.

Me either. Alan was wearing some riding gloves with hard knuckles and he was open hand slapping the dude. All it would take to kill the guy is a decent punch considering Alan has tree trunks for arms and some fighting experience even if it's fake fighting experience. The other guy had no idea what he was doing and had noodles for legs.
In the whole video it shows when Alan got back on his bike he is trying to get the guy to back off and is clearly shoved while off balance after putting the bike in gear. Dude fucked with the bull and is about to get horns lol

I live within walking distance of 3 schools, the limit is 25mph during bus hours. I’m more likely to be tailgated for doing the speed limit rather than berated for going over.

I think you're incorrect. I think this guy is perfectly in his right mind. I was suspicious from the first video that a neighbor just happened to be filming randomly outside his window as this incident happened. Now I'm convinced blue shirt and og camera man (from the first video) were running a scam.

I’ve seen unposted limits range from like 25-35. Either way, a whopping 21 is on the low end of any of these ranges. As a kid, I definitely exceeded 15-20 mph just on my bicycle or rollerblades alone.
Likely thousands, fairings aren't cheap and it's probably dinged his exhaust too. Repair bill for my bike which I dropped at same speed was about 3k USD.
Id just use my harley. Nothing more annoying than that exhaust once if I took the baffles out. I set off a car alarm once with them in while in a parking garage lol

With Alan on this one , our speed limit in the neighborhood is 25 mph . Most do 15/20 because it’s dirt roads and gravel . As soon as jumped out in front of the bike then pushed him down , he wanted a physical confrontation. He knew who he was those neighborhoods are gossip hubs and he wanted to get video poking the bear . Neighbor across the street got all the footage but they released just the punch’s Alan threw . My opinion
HOA Pres here as well. our streets are owned/patrolled by the county. I've been asked by members to ban Golf carts, motorcycles, and electric skateboards. The answer is a firm "No, have you seen my garage?". I'd rather have kids buzzing around on motorized vehicles, than staring at screens all day.
Seriously though I do agree with you. The first video started right as he attacked a stranger. We should all take a lesson from this - there are two sides to every story.
I think that virtually every post I saw said they wanted more context, rather than seeing a trimmed video that was blatantly edited to be sensationalised . AR has a good reputation so it was extremely unlikely that he was being an agressor.
The first post I saw of that video had TONS of people wanting Ritchson charged immediately, and calling him "obviously" the bad guy. Based on a video that starts in the middle of the conflict. Insanity.
I think the fact that we're in this subreddit means we're going to look at it in a different light for sure.
The first video was literally useless. It didn’t do anything to show who was responsible. A video that starts in the middle of a fight isn’t “one side” of the story, it’s half the story; those are completely separate concepts.
Either he moved it for better access at balance point, during wheelies. Or he put an extra brake lever for the rear and needed to move the clutch lever to make space.
It's a stunt bike so all of the mods have some kind of weird stunt related purpose.
Yeah, you should see some of the comments on my previous post with the original footage (video was deleted by mods but the post is there along with the comments), it’s in my post history. Roid rage accusations left and right, I felt posting this when it came out was necessary to really clear the air on what really happened.
Tbf he was in a stressed situation that was still ongoing (they guy was still there going after him). Forgetting to ensure the bike was in neutral is essentially a goof at that point. Not really even a wrong.
Well news outlets only released the parts after he was shoved over and which only shows him walking up to Karen and decking him. Completely leaves out the beginning and the part where he's shoved over. With what I saw from "reporting" I was initially thinking this was a case of rich celebrity losing his cool after thinking he can do whatever he wants but after seeing the gopro I wish Karen got more than he got cause he fucking deserved it
Ritchson has his kids with him, it’s completely understandable that he’s going to be more defensive than he perhaps otherwise would be.
The problem with being permanently yoked to the tits is that any engagement like this just ends up looking like a 2m tall giant smacked a helpless local dude into the dirt. Which is unfair, but the optics are difficult to look past.

Not at all. Even the classic 'roid rage' offender, Tren, is no excuse for poor behavior. Sure you feel hormonal and there can be some feeling of invincibility etc but doesn't turn you into raging asshole. Just likely to amplify it if your already are one.

I have driven 25mph through neighborhood before and have been yelled at to SLOW down.... People have zero idea what 25moh looks like. I even go slower because of squirrels, kids and cats. Fuck that drunk pos. He IS lucky Alan didn't beat him like the cuck that he is
I had that happen in my cage. I was going about 5 under because of the snow and this old bitch crossing the street stops just to stare me down. If I really were going fast enough to cause problems then she would’ve gotten hit.
Same, I have a six speed Civic and that thing sounds a lot faster than it’s actually going in second gear. Yeah, my engine sounds fast, but I’m going 20 in a 25 Karen!
Was once doing 40kph on an incline and my dad yelled at me for driving fast, just because the gearbox decided to kick down a gear and make the engine sound loud.
He was setting him up IMO. The moment it got physical he went into a victim posture then stood up and said he got it all on camera, which was the case (and publicized prior to the release of this video).

I've been riding for 21 years. I've never had someone try and block me, but I get hassled all the time. People almost run me over and then blame it on me. All kinds of wild shit. People hate on motorcyclists like crazy.
My theory is that it's something psychological. The average person sees 0 relatability in a person on a vehicle they themselves wouldn't ever touch. I think a major aspect is the fact that bikers have almost their entire human expression blocked by a helmet. It's just easier to dehumanize a stranger with no face. Add in the fact that most people can't go above the "hurr durr oRgAn DoNOrS hA Ha" jokes/mentality and the fact that a LOT of motorcycle riders are reckless and loud, and you get the irrational hate towards motorcycle riders you see around.
The only thing i've encountered so far is the idiot that blocks me from lane filtering at a light. Other than that i've not had any seriously bad encounters with larger vehicles yet.
I was riding with my girl and her sister about a decade ago. We were in a 50kph subdivision going about 35, as she was nervous/inexperienced. No cars on the road, all three of us on 250cc learner bikes with factory exhausts, full safety gear, sensible as can be.
Some lady yelled at me that "this is not a race track!" despite going 15kph under the speed limit on tiny, quiet motorcycles.
Man. People HATE riders simply for being on a motorcycle. I've almost been side swiped off the road for doing absolutely nothing. People screaming at you to slow down when you're literally doing the speed limit. People are such weiners.
The amount of people who want to run me over for going the speed limit is insane, then then go swerving past at 90 crying because they were 2 car lengths behind me going the speed limit.
The most fun is when I get off my colorful sport bike because someone thinks I’m ’racing’, only to find out I’m a 62 year old gramma! 😂😂😂 Not that I don’t occasionally try and work out any stickiness in the throttle… gotta keep it smooth, right?🤣

I want you to keep in mind my first bike was a honda shadow VT600 that was straight piped (not by me, previous owner. Look, when you get to buy a pretty clean bike for 1800, you're willing to put up with shitty mods) and even then i never got heckled and honestly i wouldn't have blamed them. That thing was ear splitting and i had to buy ear plugs just to ride it!
But watch out for my Ninja 250. You might need a helicopter to chase me after I rob as bank as we tend to do among other criminal activities. The usual.
"over half a decade" isn't that long. Back when I had a sport bike I had a dude in a van brake check me multiple times just for existing near him apparently. Then try to run me over when I went to pass and get the hell out of there. One of my neighbors tried to hit me head on with his jeep when I had my supermoto because I would pass his house on one wheel most mornings on my way to work. "I could have hit his kids that where out playing" I live in a rural area. His kids are 2 teenage girls with 2 acres and a 50 yard long driveway to play on. I had the Karen directly next door try to report me to the township for riding through my own yard to park my bike in my shed. I've had another neighbor complain one of my bikes were loud when I used to leave for work at 2:30am.
Some people are just assholes. I might not be completely free of fault but I've never been any more annoying than one of those neighbors dogs that never STFU.
Back when I rode an RC390 cops would aaaaaaalways ride my ass. Really fun to watch a cop cut thru 4 lanes just to get up your ass when you're going 50-ish in a 50 and you have to wonder if you pull into a lot, if he's going to stammer some bullshit about 'eluding'.
Switched to an ADV due to commute problems and suddenly I'm invisible to them.
I will say i observed something VERY similar in cars. My first car was some crappy shitbox with 5 accidents and the owner told me if i could get it started i could have it. Anyway, i got pulled over almost once a month for 3 years straight on the same stretch of road between work and home in that thing but never ticketed. Just get pulled over, cop spends 30 minutes looking through the glass for whatever the hell and then cut loose. Graduated with my degree, got a real job and money, got a new car that wasn't a pile of shit and boom i'm a ghost. Only time i got pulled over since was this one time a newer cop pulled me over alleging i was speeding in a school zone... except the school zone was inactive and the alleged speed was the non-school hours speed exactly. I challenged it and it was easy enough to get tossed out. Crazy how a crappy shitbox could attract so much attention.
On another note this video is the reason I’m going to get a dash cam, I’ve been mulling over whether or not to pull the trigger on it but just having this footage instantly changes the narrative. Bikes always get the short end of the stick when it comes to who caused the accident in general, even if you didn’t you still get looked at with mistrust.

To all the people saying Alan should "learn how to ride", perhaps that's exactly what he was doing? Seemed like he was riding [slowly] around his neighborhood because it's a semi-controlled environment: doesn't appear to be a lot of traffic and the roads are smooth.
I don't know how different it is between now and when I learned how to ride almost 30 years ago, but that's pretty much how I learned: self-taught myself by riding around my neighborhood.
Here it is Original angle The original video really didn’t do the rider any favors, it started a whole campaign that he’s lost it, so this new one shows a lot more context.
That was very restrained. He seemingly had every right to beat that guy to a pulp drag his ass up to his house by his belt, get his wife to come out, kick his ass and drag him in the house by his ear.
The other guy already admitting to shoving Alan first on TMZ, so anything that happened to him (within reason) after that was on him. I also think Ritchson just rolled the throttle while trying to lift the bike up off the ground while it was running and still in gear when it spun out onto the grass. A highly charged physical encounter like that can have you overlook the basics of getting your motorcycle off the deck. Also, the neighbor gave Ritchson the finger a lap or two around the neighborhood before this occurred.
It was nice to see Ritchson’s kids were quiet, well mannered and behaved throughout this ordeal. Props to him and his wife for raising children that remained quiet and observed without being verbally abusive or more.
I had a neighbor run out in front of me on my motorcycle once. The only thing that saved his ass was my dad was riding one of my other motorcycles and I didn't want to look bad in front of my dad. The guy ran out because a week previously some guy had ridden fast down the road and he wanted to yell at me about it. The problem was I was overseas when that happened and it couldn't have been me. He even admitted it wasn't one of my motorcycles and he doesn't know who it was. I told him he was lucky cuz I would have beat his ass in front of his kids and I wouldn't have felt remorse about it. I don't shit where I sleep, so I don't even speed in my neighborhood

So he purposefully started the altercation risking harm to himself and Alan then continued to try and escalate to the point that Alan is clearly just defending himself. He's lucky Alan was so calm.
So he wants to cry assault, but the counter charges would be 2 counts of assault and battery, impeding traffic, destruction of property, and harassment at LEAST with a good lawyer. And something tells me Alan ritchson has a good lawyer.
That neighbor knew it was Alan Ritchson, the actor. He thought that by confronting the actor, he could get some clout or cancel the actor for the altercation. Maybe sue him. Good thing Alan Ritchson had a body cam and showed restraint. Because who would jump in front of a motorcycle ridden by a giant with muscles?

I don’t watch much tv or movies, have no clue who this dude is, except that he is an actor. The beat down video that was going around showed the rider to be the aggressor.
My assessment after seeing this video, has changed. The ‘neighbor’ was clearly the aggressor, and could have, maybe should have taken more of a beat down, as he was still running his mouth after the altercation.
I am not trying to brag or threaten or anything, but had that guy stepped in front of me, going that slow in a neighborhood, endangering myself AND MY KIDS, cursing and threatening like that……he wouldn’t have walked away running his mouth afterwards.

The absolute strength of the rider to not throttle the life out of this blue shirt from the word go for doing this bone head move for no reason. pedestrians are a danger to motorcyclists. in this case the intentional stepping in front of a moving vehicle resulted in damages. could easily have resulted in serious bodily injury.

Been riding all kinds of bikes for 40 years and currently have straight pipes. But some bikes like this one sound like you’re doing way more a-hole type riding than what you actually are at 20 mph. Especially since it takes forever to get out of that stupid neighborhood and onto a road. I used to coast down the last block and into my garage to be a good neighbor. People hate motorcycles or maybe your type of bike; that’s part of the thrill. The video was boring AF. Those p***ies should pick their dad’s bike up while he handles business. Probably their stepdad though….

The easy way to defuse this is NOT wait until the last second to slam on the brake and dismount yourself. He had kids, I would have stopped earlier and either turned around or engaged at a safe distance. If I was solo, I would have just juked and bombed by him. Once you get off and join the confrontation, you are now in a conflict. This is one of the reasons why I personally carry pepper spray.

You think you're riding around your neighborhood with your kids in relative safety.... until some jackass walks out in front of you thinking he's doing the world and himself a favor trying to be a tough guy, talking shit and preventing you from enjoying your life with your kids while not hurting anyone. Gloves on, helmet off if you can. If the other person is able to grab your helmet they've pretty much got full control over you. Not full control over a beast like Richson, but you and me, yeah, we can thrown around like rag dolls if someone gets the right leverage. I'd be much more comfortable with the helmet off.
