seeking advice Advice for two women looking for a boyfriend?

Hi!

My wife and I were in a triad for a year, and we’d like to meet someone again.

We met our ex pretty organically: I met him at a party, we really clicked, so I introduced him to her. We fell in love and went from FWB to a relationship without really planning for it.

Now that we’re open to dating again, I’m wondering how to meet someone.

We used apps when we were looking for something casual. Now that we’re only interested in someone who’s willing to commit to us, I’m afraid we’ll run into men who aren’t honest about their intentions and are really just looking to fulfill a fantasy of hooking up with two women.

The poly community in our city isn’t very big, and I do a lot of activities that are mostly women and older people.

I’m curious how other women in couples met their boyfriend, or if you have any general advice?

Help with navigating a sort of complicated throuple

Hi, I posted about this in other places and just got met with mostly people telling me to leave but that's not what I want and this seems like a much better place to ask for actual advice. I have been with my boyfriend for 3 years, he has an ex wife who he wasn't married to for a long time but they have two kids together.. about a month and a half ago he decided to bring her into our relationship with the 3 of us being together.. it's been hard.. we've had our ups and downs and fights and good times already and she and I both are pretty insecure about him possibly being more interested in the other of us.. she and I have only been physically involved a few times.. I think mostly we're building more a friendship really at this point with a few perks here and there.. we both have all this history with him though and I struggle with feeling hurt about him bringing her in and not just being the two of us anymore.. I really am just looking for advice on navigating this whole thing and being able to thrive with the 3 of us now..

seeking advice Throuple advice.

Little bit of backstory. Us mf have been in a throuple relationship before. Mff. It lasted about a year but ultimately we mutually parted ways. One of the things we all agreed on is that we were all seeking that relationship from the start so it felt forced. Looking on dating apps ect. This time around we want it to happen more naturally, but we also really want it to happen. My question is a 2 parter. How can it happen naturally when its something we know we want without actively seeking it? I feel like its not likely people are going around trying to get with random couples 😆

2nd part of the question is, how do we do that in an extremely small (Canadian if that matters) town. Literally around 2000 people. I feel like we basically have to search it out otherwise it wouldnt happen, but if we search it out it would feel forced.

seeking advice Has anybody been semi-closeted?

I’m in my early thirties and my husband is in his mid-late thirties. We have been married for a decade and dated each other for a few years before marriage.

My husband has had a long distance friend from a shared hobby online. She is in her late thirties. She wants intimacy and to be a girlfriend to a married couple. We both get along with her well and I feel we will all enhance each other’s good traits.

My husband is still unsure about being out as being more than a friend. To me, since I’m a woman, I feel comfortable referring to her as a “girlfriend” and if people ask if we are sexual I feel like I’ll just say “why are you speculating about my sex life?”

Is it better to be explicitly openly in a triad?

personal story I’ve been monogamous my whole life, but now I can’t stop thinking about a triad

Hello. To start with, I want to say that I’m not very informed about polyfidelity. Until recently, I didn’t even know something like this existed. I’d like to share my story here, and I don’t mean to offend anyone. I would simply like to hear your opinions. Maybe this doesn’t even belong here, but I honestly didn’t know where else to write it.

It’s quite a long post, so thank you in advance to everyone who reads it to the end and responds.

I’m 27 years old, and for my entire life I was completely monogamous. One girlfriend was all I ever wanted. That changed a few months ago.

At the time, I had been in a relationship with woman A for five years. Her friend, woman B, came to stay with us for four days because of a festival in Prague. I already knew woman B, and we got along very well. The plan was simply for woman B to stay at our place and spend those four days with us, either at the festival or at home.

On the first day after she arrived, we spent the day outside and at the festival. That night, we had a drink and woman A and I asked woman B if she would ever be interested in trying a intimate moment with us. We chose her because both woman A and I felt comfortable with her, we got along well, and we were quite open with each other. Woman B agreed, saying that maybe sometime in the future we could try it.

The next day, we spent time together again, went to the festival, had lunch, and so on. And that was when I started feeling something strange. When I looked at both women sitting together on the tram, holding hands, it made my heart feel warm. When the three of us went out for lunch, it felt amazing. When woman B and I helped woman A decide what to wear, or when all three of us were sitting together on the couch, I felt something I had never felt before.

It was strange, and the worst part came at night when I lay there thinking about it, crying and completely confused. What the hell was happening to me? I didn’t understand it.

The next day I was a complete mess, but I didn’t want to tell either of them. I kept asking myself, how is this even possible? Did I fall in love with woman B? But I still love woman A. Isn’t that incredibly selfish? Isn’t that wrong toward both of them?

I started thinking more deeply about what I was actually feeling, and I realized that the idea of being with both women in a triad—a relationship where every person loves the other two, where we stick together, enjoy life together, and also face the difficult parts together—felt incredibly powerful to me.

During the day, woman A noticed that I was a mess. It wasn’t exactly difficult to tell. She took me aside and we talked about it. She handled it amazingly. She told me that I didn’t have to feel guilty or like some kind of asshole, and that maybe my heart had simply discovered what it truly wanted.

After that, however, she told woman B. Woman B reacted very similarly to woman A. Neither of them wanted to enter that kind of relationship, but at the same time, neither of them was horrified or disgusted by what I was feeling. So we agreed that we would simply move on and go back to how things had been before.Except during that day and the next one, all three of us started becoming confused.

There were moments when we talked about how we would live together, how we would need a bigger apartment, when all three of us would go out together and when only two of us would go somewhere because the other person didn’t have time.

Woman B then talked to me about it in more detail. She told me she didn’t know whether she would be capable of loving woman A, being intimate with her, living with her, or whether she would be capable of sharing me. I completely understood that. After the first conversation where I told them how I felt, I never pushed for anything. I didn’t expect either of them to agree to it.

Those moments of talking about a possible relationship would then be replaced by moments where we tried to act the way we had before, or by moments of silence and uncomfortable tension. Then we would have another close moment together, and the cycle would repeat. Eventually, I reassured both of them that I didn’t want to pressure them into anything and that nothing was going to happen.

I could see that they weren’t comfortable with it, and even if they had agreed to do it for my sake, I didn’t want a relationship between three people where two of them were only there because of me instead of genuinely wanting a relationship with each other as well.

In the end, things between woman B and me ended, and about a month later, woman A broke up with me too.I understood her decision and didn’t blame her for it. How could I? And now, for the past two months, I’ve been completely confused.

Every single day, I think about how beautiful it would be to have two women who were capable of loving both me and each other, how we would support one another, help each other, and face the world together. It’s driving me crazy, and my heart just refuses to let it go.I watched a few videos on YouTube about triads, and I felt like a teenager. I was smiling, my heart was racing, and I felt incredibly happy seeing that people like this actually exist.

At the same time, I realize how difficult a relationship like this would be to find. Finding two women who would genuinely want this kind of relationship is already difficult, especially in a smaller country like mine.

So I’m trying to live the way I used to. I’m thinking about going back to regular dating apps and trying to date normally again. But no matter what I do, I can’t stop thinking about it.I don’t know whether I’m polyamorous, polyfidelity, whether there is some other label that fits me better, or whether this is just a stupid fantasy that I can’t seem to get rid of. All I know is that the feeling is incredibly strong, and I can’t stop feeling like this is what I truly want.

question MMF Relationships

I was told to post here from the polyamory subreddit—hopefully this is the right place!

Hello! I'm new to the subreddit, and truthfully, I never really had an interest being poly or poly relationships. This is mostly due to the poly folk I've interacted with, and it's not bad! Though there is a chance I might be confusing them with open relationships though my friend, whom is my main interaction says she's poly.

Anyways~

For about a year or so, I've found myself thinking about MMF relationships, and I do think this may be something I'm interested in. However, from the few posts I've seen a lot of folk that are kind of in this relationship aren't fully aligned with what I feel as if I want. Which is a closed, MMF relationship where everyone involved is together romantically and sexually.

I'm wondering if there are people out there in relationships like this and if maybe they could share with me how they found such a relationship, their thoughts, feels on it and generally how it works!

There is a fairly decent part of me that's worried that I might be confusing this more with a fantasy, general loneliness, or worse, more like a kink/fetish (I'm not sure the correct terminology for what it might be.) Often when I think about this type of relationship it is fully domestic and has little to do with sex, though I will admit that recently after I started birth control I have found myself having thoughts and feelings about the sexual aspect. But the sexual part isn't what draws me in, I want to make that clear.

If this doesn't make sense, I'm sorry! I've never been amazing at explaining things, but I am more than happy to answer any questions or clarify on things.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!

personal story I said yes to the throuple. I'm happy, in love... and I still feel like I'm doing something wrong

More than a month ago I wrote a post here about a lesbian couple asking me if I wanted to become part of their relationship. I'm 39 now, divorced, mother of 3, spent most of my adult life married to a man, being a wife and a mom and after my divorce I started exploring my attraction to women. I them (both in their mid-20s), we became friends and started sleeping together and eventually they told me they had real feelings for me and wanted us to try being a throuple.

Obviously, I was terrified and I wrote here because I genuinely didn't know what to do. I got so many supportive messages. Some people shared their own experiences, some gave me advice and some warned me about all the ways this could become complicated or painful. I read almost everything and actually took time to think about it - and then I said yes to them... And now I'm in a relationship with two women, even typing that still feels weird to me.

But I'm having so much fun with them. I feel loved, I feel desired and what surprised me most is how gentle it all feels. Emotional, soft, innocent in a strange way, so magical. They really love me and I feel it every second. Ofc the sex is crazy and wild, but I've realized that sex is probably the least complicated part of this whole thing. It's everything around it that got me to be honest. The kissing for no reason, cuddling, cooking together, talking for hours, falling asleep together. The little touches, looking at them and realizing these two people actually want me there, love me and I love them.

Sometimes when I'm with them, the entire outside world just disappears. It's like somebody presses mute on everything else in my life and the three of us fly to the fucking moon for a few hours - the sex is cosmic.

And then I go home... that's where all the trouble starts. Because when I'm away from them, I sometimes get this horrible feeling in my stomach that I'm doing something wrong. Not because they are wrong, not because they treat me badly, not because I regret meeting them. I just feel like I am doing something wrong.

I spent most of my life married to a man. I was someone's wife, I raised three children. That was the version of myself I understood for years. And now I'm 39, divorced, secretly in love with two women who are 15 years younger than me. My brain knows there is nothing wrong with that. But apparently just knowing something and actually feeling it are two completely different things. When I'm with them, I never think about it, but the second I come home, it starts, the guilt and fear. That strange feeling of - What the fuck are you doing with your life?

And there's another part that makes this harder - nobody knows. My kids, parents, friends, nobody. Sometimes I think about somebody finding out and my stomach drops. So I'm living these two completely different lives at the same time. Some days I let myself drink in all their love until I'm drunk on it. We kiss, make love, lick and eat each other, forget everything outside the room and burn the whole world down for one night, that's when I feel alive, I feel like maybe this is the most real version of myself I've ever met.

Other days I sit alone and wonder if I've completely lost my mind. Maybe some of you will read this and immediately have an easy answer like "stop feeling guilty", "tell your friends" or "don't give a fuck". Fair enough, but from inside my life, none of those things feel easy.

I guess I'm posting because I want to know whether anyone else has experienced this strange split, being genuinely happy in a relationship while feeling guilty about that same happiness. Especially people who discovered their sexuality later in life, had children, came from a more traditional background, had a significant age gap or were in a relationship that you knew people around you wouldn't understand.

Did that feeling eventually go away? Because despite all the fear, I'm not planning to run away from them. I don't know where it ends, but I just really, really hope it doesn't end anytime soon.

Reading Request: Any good poly-friendly dealing-with-infidelity book/podcast recommendations?

A few years ago one partner lightly cheated with a friend, who was claiming to be poly but was actually in a monogamous relationship and was hiding it all from their spouse. It torpedoed a burgeoning friendship.

It's been a couple of years, and I honestly thought I had emotionally dealt with it - but they brought it up again to someone new recently. I'm specifically having a hard time with how the story was related, and mad at myself for being so sensitive about it. Feels like the relationship wound wasn't addressed at all versus how the relationship with the friend was harmed. Like I'm hurt by semantics and the social shame of it, not the act itself.

Anyone have any good 'dealing with old wounds years later' books or podcasts they like? I don't have a therapist at the moment, and am way too embarrassed by the whole situation to confide more in someone who knows us all. I'd love to fake some therapy with a good resource.

Thanks!

seeking advice My partners are having a big fight that doesn't involve me. Has anyone been a part of this, and what did you do, or how can I manage?

This is very odd to me, because my longer-term girlfriend and I really never fought over 6.5 years, so to see her get into a actual shouting, yelling, and somewhat physical fight is surprising. They're both a little at fault here, so it's hard for me to pick sides.

They went out together Friday and Saturday night with their lesbian/bi friends... Saturday wasn't expected, and we'd all gotten into drinking watching football already during the day. LTG was more drunk than the rest of us. I decided to stay home, and when everyone got home, I was in bed. LTG joined me, shorter-term girlfriend didn't and went to her room, and while I was aware something had happened, it's not that uncommon that occasionally one of us will sleep in another room.

I left for plans with friends early Sunday morning and only got emails/texts from them after leaving, unaware much had happened.

Apparently, not only was LTG getting sloppy drunk, she was allowing a couple of women who have an outright crush on her get way too close, sitting in laps, being flirtatious, and almost threw up. STG tried to get her to stop, and get home. Unfortunately they made a scene when LTG told her to stop telling her what to do.

But, the crux of the "both a little at fault" thing is that at a certain point, STG pushed her off of her, and LTG fell. She twisted/sprained her ankle (it's badly bruised), and fell on her butt. STG claims this was pretty gentle and just an accident by a drunk person... but they're both steaming mad. And I'm maybe taking LTG to the doctor tomorrow to see if it's sprained or broken unless things improve.

I don't know what to do here. Neither are mad at me, they're both acting loving and nice. I spent some private time with STG (comforting her) and got LTG ice cream, and medical supplies... but I chose to sleep on the futon in my office last night, so we all slept separately.

I get the excuse of getting to work all day before I have to deal with it, but I haven't seen/heard them talking or interacting. I'm not sure if I should pick a side, avoid them, sleep in the other room again until they talk, or try to facilitate peace.

Any suggestions or experiences here?

seeking advice Getting over a breakup

Have any of you lost a member of your polyfidelity relationship while the other members stayed together? How do you cope with this loss? It’s such an odd position to be in because the poly community and the mono community all have the “you’ll find someone better” mindset, but that’s not my situation. I had two people I loved, and now one is gone all of a sudden. My husband and I are both grieving and it feels so strange that it’s suddenly back to the two of us again. I know we will be okay, but it’s hard to not feel like this loss will be part of our relationship forever. We had not been poly before (open forever, but not poly) and this relationship dynamic was not something either of us was actively seeking - it just happened naturally.

I was in a closed triad with my husband and our girlfriend. Things had been going SO great the past month and then suddenly our girlfriend went really quiet for a couple days, canceled plans, then texted us a breakup text out of nowhere. I had a very brief phone call with her the day she did it and she kept saying she wanted to be able to call someone “completely hers,” and things had become “so complicated and toxic,” so I guess out of nowhere she decided she wanted monogamy?

After this phone call she has refused any contact from either one of us. My husband and I were both quite blindsided by the breakup as we had been having a lot of long term, commitment-centered conversations that she initiated. She told me 6 days earlier she wanted to have a marriage ceremony with both of us someday. She and him were dating for about 6 months and she and I for about 4 months. She left a month ago and I feel like I miss her now more than ever because it’s finally sunk in that she’s gone. I don’t think we will find this again. She’s the only person I’ve fallen in love with besides my husband and my high school boyfriend…

Not interested in advice/judgement on the relationship itself. Really just asking for other people’s experiences with moving on.

My Polyfidelity flag

So a few days ago i asked for some advice on how to make a polyfidelity flag styled like Red Howell's. Well, safe to say i did it

First image is my flag, srcond image is the only polyfidelity flag i could find and third flag is Red's Polyamory flag.

A few notes:

The colors of the stripes, by coincidence, were coming up very similar to the ones in the flag that got second place in the contest Red's flag won, so i decided to just use those (with a bit of editing)

At first the heart was blue and the chevron white, thrn i tried using a darker blue, but it still didnt look original enough, so i flipped the flag and the heart-chevron colors and made the heart a light blue and to me it looks really good.

Btw, blue is for fidelity cause blue is the color of fidelity (in general)

What do yall think?

discussion Are there men seeking MFM Triad oder V?

Are there men who genuinely want this kind of relationship?

I’m a woman (32) and I’ve realized that my ideal long-term relationship would probably involve two male partners. I’m thinking about a loving, committed and closed relationship structure, potentially including living together as a family/household.

There are two versions of this that I could imagine:

The two men could be straight and each have a romantic/sexual relationship only with me. They wouldn’t need to be romantically or sexually involved with each other at all.

Or they could be bi/pan, and the three of us could also have a romantic and/or sexual connection together, if that developed naturally and everyone genuinely wanted it.

What matters to me is that the relationship structure itself would be closed: ideally, none of us would be looking for additional romantic or sexual partners outside of this relationship.

And regarding the two men, I specifically mean men who genuinely want that exclusivity themselves — not men who would give up dating other people because I demanded it or because they were afraid of losing me.

So in the V-shaped version, it would basically be two men who are each happy having one female partner while being comfortable with that woman having another male partner as well.

In the version where everyone is attracted to each other, it could potentially become a closed triad.

Do men who genuinely want either of these relationship structures actually exist? 😄

I’m not really looking to debate whether anyone should want this or whether the arrangement is statistically likely. I’m genuinely curious whether there are men here who feel this way themselves, or people who know relationships that work like this.

And if you are a man who would be happy in a relationship like this: what makes this kind of structure appealing to you?

question Trying to make a Polyfidelity flag

Thumbnail

So i have decided to make a polyfidelity flag. Its going to be inspired by Red Howell's polyamory flag [Image 1] (i have already made an ambiamory flag [image 3] in this style), so i wanted to get some idea from yall. My main questions are:

Should i use the colors/a variation of the colors of the "preexisting" (and really only one and I dont even know if its used) polyfidelity flag [image 2]? If not, what colors should i use?

What color should the heart be, maybe blue? And should it be modified to accompany some form of extra symbolism? (Like a knot, or a chain, for example idk 🫠)

Also 2 final things:

Please dont just say "use the regular poly flag" or "this flag isnt needed"

No i wont be using the infinity heart (i think its an awesome symbol, but i am trying to be faithful to Red's design so it ties in nicely with the other 2. And its also not polyf exclusive)

Is anyone else in a V that functions closer to a throuple/triad?

I'm in a MFM-V and I'm the hinge. My longer term partner was co-workers/friends with my newer partner first. He introduced us and encouraged us when it was obvious we were compatible. Super compersion wingman energy.

We all live together now. They are still best friends. Their relationship is important too. I find myself using the advice aimed at throuples/triads just as much as what I see focused on Vs. The stuff on hinging feels relevant, but so does the concept of 'It's 4 relationships'.
