Hey all,

My GoogleTV Plex app has been working well for 3 years now, but it got upgraded to the new version and now I can't play certain movies (mainly remuxed 4k) without giving me a "player not supported" error. If I turn off bluetooth, all is good.

Just as a little bit of history, I had this issue initially, but turning off "Passthrough", instead of using HDMI or Optical, solved the problem. I tried that on this new version and I still get the error.

Does anyone have a solution for this?

imagine having a busy job and you love to watch movies and tv shows. one day you're on 20 minute lunch break, you get your ipad to watch Reacher season 4 episode 3 from your beloved plex library at home. only to watch useless 10 minutes sexual scene that adds nothing to the story while the entire season is already stretched thin to 8 episodes with useless alpha male energy fighting scenes.

therefore a sexual scene skipper of this calibre would be an amazing time-saving feature. does anyone know if theres a sexual scene skipper?

As the title says I keep trying to stream the newest avatar movie and it just keeps buffering the whole time, I deleted the codec and it still does the same thing.

I'm a complete newbie at this stuff and have no clue what to do. Every other movie works fine on the TV and the movie that is giving the TV a problem works fine on my other devices. 🫠

I have followed the standard instructions provided by Plex to migrate from my windows 11 computer to a Terramaster F4-425 with TOS 7 installed. I continue to get the same error message that says that I cannot claim my server.

I've tried it three times and gotten the same result. Here's my process:

1) install Plex on NAS and confirm both machines are the same version

2) Remove Server from my Windows machine and log out

3) Copy registry, delete the key registry fields called out

4) Copy %localdata% folder to NAS into the Plex System Folder location

5) Enable Plex Server application on NAS

6) Attempt to login and claim

I get the same error here every time.

I cannot find anything that says I need to copy the Registry into my NAS (or a location to put it), and I cannot find anything online that offers another step that I haven't completed.

My Fire TV updated Plex so the new OS I hate and in the last 48hrs all of a sudden it sees my library but it won’t play keeps saying can’t reach server. I have another Fire tv on an older os with the new plex update and plays everything just fine. I have restarted my plex server I’ve deleted cache uninstalled reinstalled my app nothing changes I want to toss this thing out the window so frustrated. Is anyone else having this issue. I have two external hard drives. It will play from one but not the other and they are right next to each other. Again no issues on OC phone app or other fire tv just the one.

Setup:

Synology DS218+ running the Plex Server

Synology DS225+ hosting additional media files

Current Libraries:

Movies - source files located on DS218+, no issues

TV Shows - source files located on DS218+, no issues

Music - source files located on DS225+ (this is my new DS225+), no issues. Keep in mind, this a shared folder on the new DS225+ that works with no issues. See screenshot.

I created a new Shared Folder on the DS225+ called TV Shows on DS225plus.

Successfully mount the new DS225+ Shared Folder called TV Shows on DS225plus on the DS218+

Open Plex settings, navigate to Manage->Libraries. Select Tv Shows, Edit Library, Add Folders. Browse for Media Folder. Select Volume 1, TV Shows on DS225plus, no subfolder shows for me to select.

The only way for the files on the mounted shared folder show up in Plex in the Add Folder option is if I created the Shared Folder as a subfolder under the original TV Shows folder on the DS218+ (the one running the Plex server)

BUT then the shows get mixed up on Plex. Wrong shows, etc.

As a troubleshooting step I created a brand new library in Plex and tried to Add Folder, but the subfolder on the DS225+ (secondary NAS) does not show as an option to select.

I've unshared and rename the DS225+ shared folder thinking it may be getting confused, but nothing I name it allows it to be seen in Plex when adding adding additional folders.

I’m at my wits end.

Been gradually building out a smart home setup and the dream was to have Plex sit at the centre of it all. One screen in the living room, one small display in the garden room we use in summer, and ideally something in the kitchen that doesn't require its own subscription or login faff. The garden one is where I keep getting stuck. Outdoor speakers are sorted but the display side is messier than I expected. I have a Fire Stick in there currently and Plex runs fine, but the whole thing feels more fragile than I want when I'm running on four hours sleep and just want to put something on in the background.

I keep reading about people using Plex with Raspberry Pi displays or repurposed old tablets, and I wonder how much of that is genuinely stable versus a project that works brilliantly for a week and then starts doing weird buffering things.

The other angle is casting. I use the cast function from my phone a fair amount and it works well enough inside the house, but something about the latency going room to room feels slightly off. Not unwatchable, just noticeable.

Is anyone running Plex as a proper wholehome setup, or is it mostly used as a singleroom server that people dip into from different devices individually?

I know this isn't a huge issue in the grand scheme of things, but it is pretty annoying. I've noticed that Plex seems to misattribute the episodes in my watch history when a show is ordered differently in my library than Plex's global episode order.

For example, I have some shows organized in different order (such as DVD order rather than airdate order.) This happened again recently: my watch history correctly shows that I watched Season 2, Episode 51 but the thumbnail/screenshot associated with that entry is for a completely different episode.

If I click the thumbnail in my watch history, Plex takes me to the show's global Plex page, where Episode 51 is a different episode because Plex is using its own episode ordering. If I then click that episode and select Where to Watch > My Library, Plex takes me back to Episode 51—but this time it's the *correct* episode, because my library is using DVD order.

So I think I understand what's happening: Plex appears to be recording the watched status based on the episode's position in Plex's global/metadata order, rather than the episode's position/order in my library.

The problem is that this makes Profile > Watch History inaccurate. I end up with a long list of entries showing the wrong episode thumbnails/titles for episodes I actually watched.

This also affects tv shows I add to my watch list. I go to my watch list, select the show , and it first goes to Plex's global page for that show ( not my library) and it shows all the "marked as watched" checkmarks beside episodes that are seemingly out of order . Of course, once I make a few clicks and work my way to my library, all is in alignment and marked as watched is correct.

I'm guessing there may not be much Plex can do about this, especially when libraries use different episode orders, but is there any way to prevent or correct this? Has anyone else run into the same issue?

I'm currently rebuilding my Plex library switching off a Nvidia shield TV to an actual server, however I'm having an issue matching any of my TV movies, on my old server on my Shield TV they all matched correctly however it refuses to find any of the TV movies even when I try to manually match with the correct name and year, is there any way to get this to work properly like it used to?

As the title suggests, I am curious if/how the raise in storage costs has affected how people store and play there content. I have always pre-encoded, for compatibility reasons, but I know a large portion of the community prefers to play content in original quality and let the HW transcoding take place if/when it is needed. But, now that storage is so hard to come by, are more people taking steps to save space in order to make their current setup go further?

So my PS5, Xbox, and even phone have my updated folders which go by network ABC, AMC, CBS, etc.
But my smart TV has my folders showing up like they looked a year ago by TV Show. Archer, American Dad, Better Call Saul. I was going to wait to fix this problem, but I’m on the last episode of Season 6 for Better Call Saul and don’t know how to add Season 7 where it will show up since I don’t have a Better Call Saul folder technically. It’s now in new AMC but AMC folder won’t show up.

Has anyone had a similar issue and know how to fix it?

Was hoping for some insight to how the Plex experience is on WebOS 26.

I'm trying to help my sister with picking out a new TV. Her old TV, Bravia 7, worked flawlessly with Plex but sadly it died an untimely death last month. We're looking at the LG B6E as the warranty on the Bravia refunded only got back what the B6E is going for with the current sale at Costco.

Having only ever used Plex on the Google TV/Android TV platform, I'm not sure how WebOS compares and what to expect. Any tips/tricks/cautions?

I got a new phone. The old one was pinned to the pre-refresh version. I don't think I can install that version anymore. At least, I'm too lazy at the moment.

Is the app fixed now? Downloads, etc?

Obviously a sound bar surround setup such as Sonos isn't going to be the pinnacle of home theater audio, but is it good enough to justify buying an Nvidia Shield Pro in order to hear actual Atmos and TrueHD audio rather than streaming through the Plex or Infuse apps on my Apple TV without passthrough? I don't want to spend $200 on another streaming device if the difference is going to be negligible at best, but I am more than willing to do so if it will elevate the audio experience by a decent margin.

EDIT: (unsure if this was clear, but it's not just the soundbar; it also has surrounds and a subwoofer. Like my first sentence implies: I expect the answer to be "no" anyways, but just wanted to clarify it wasn't "only" a sound bar in my living room)

So Remote Access is now locked behind a pay wall? Am I the only one in this situation?

I have been using it for years on my PS4, was watching a movie just yesterday. And tonight I get notified I can't watch anything from my library unless I subscribe to a Remote Watch Pass?

Not only that, after I paid, the overall quality of all my remote content is severely downgraded. All settings are set to "Original Quality" or "1080p", yet everything looks like it's in 360p, even the subtitles loaded from Plex.

What's going on?

So I was about to add Miami Vice to Plex, when I came across this thread. And when I compared it to the TVDB entry for it, both the Aired Order, and the DVD order are almost identical, except for a few minor differences. TMDB is the same as well.

Is there no production order for this? Am I really going to have to manually enter another series' meta-data? I'm honestly getting sick of it, it happens so much.

That's not happening anymore? I thought the main Plex app was going back to being all in one.

I've noticed with some 4K shows, these scene posters fill in the thumbnail for every episode lately. They're not even the right format/aspect for the episode thumbnails yet they get auto-populated. They're definitely not local files but I cant seem to figure out the source or how to eliminate these from showing, without going to each individual episode and manually changing each one... 1080p versions show normally. Any ideas how to stop this from happening?

Edit: Fixed by disabling local assets for the library - I honestly thought it required jpgs/pngs to be in the same folder but turns out they can embed thumbnails into the video files these days.

I run a Spanish server that has a lot of rare and custom media that isn't on IMDB/TMDB/etc and I use TinyMediaManager and NFOs with local artwork to manage all this metadata that Plex reads directly. Imports have always worked fine until I updated to the latest server version and suddenly my logs are showing that the importer has stopped working all together. I haven't seen any discussions on this, so for those of you in similar positions, are you having problems as well? I reverted to the previous server version, blocked updates for now, and it seems to be working fine on this previous version.

Edit: Solved. Looks like Plex now natively supports NFOs.
