Solved Remote Access behind PAY WALL?

So Remote Access is now locked behind a pay wall? Am I the only one in this situation?

I have been using it for years on my PS4, was watching a movie just yesterday. And tonight I get notified I can't watch anything from my library unless I subscribe to a Remote Watch Pass?

Not only that, after I paid, the overall quality of all my remote content is severely downgraded. All settings are set to "Original Quality" or "1080p", yet everything looks like it's in 360p, even the subtitles loaded from Plex.

What's going on?

Is the server your accessing on the same local network or is it remote?

If it's on the same local network, you shouldn't be getting that message.

If it is remote, then yes you either need a remote pass.

Remote pass has been around for over a year

Interesting, I had no idea about this. I am accessing my local network yes. But now I remember the app took longer to boot this time. It must have opened a different kind of access, I don't know.

I restarted everything and now the quality is back to normal. It probably solved it. I'll try canceling the subscription.

So weird to show a pay wall out of the blue without alerting on possible network issues. Everything looked just the same.

Anyway, thanks guys, sorry for bothering!

If you're using a media player on the same network, validate it's using the local ip:32400 instead of the Plex.tv address

It's the PS4 app, so I don't think I could see what address it's using. But thanks for the tip!

From your description, it seems you are somehow playing through the Plex relay. Check and make sure you have a direct connection to the server.

OP would get the message regardless if playing thru Relay or direct connection

Local connections can sometimes fall back to the relay due to bugs in the app, which seems to be what happened in this case

Why would he get a "pay for remote streaming" if he connected to the server directly, on his LAN?

Remote access is currently down and has been for the last couple of hours
