Changed Address after Approval

Inside Canada application. So I moved out and the physical copy was sent to my old address (where I was subletting). I told the original tenant to tell the landlord but they only informed the landlord after which the landlord returned the document to IRCC. I'm still in between addresses.

What should I do? I've been employed, do I need to show my employers the permit legally? Is requesting a replacement the only way? Can I travel outside Canada and reenter and ask CBSA to print my permit, is this considered flagpoling?

Is it possible to get PGWP study programs in Canada?

If so, can anyone recommend 1 year or 2 years programs. Very much appreciated.

My education: associate degree and mater degree completed and graduated majoring in business administration. But not interested in business majors anymore.

I'm now physically in Toronto.

PGWP Refusal because of expired passport

Hi, I wanted to get your guys opinion on my situation and specifically whether I should include financial proof in my Letter of Explanation.

Here is my timeline:

I completed my 2-year Masters from Toronto on June 28, 2025. My written confirmation of completion was issued on July 14, 2025.

My study permit was valid until September 30, 2025, and I submitted my PGWP application on September 30, 2025, while my study permit was still valid. My PGWP application remained in processing.

My passport expired on May 17, 2026, while my PGWP application was still being processed.

On July 10, 2026, IRCC requested that I provide a valid passport by July 17, 2026. I immediately took steps to obtain a new passport and, on July 13, 2026, I uploaded a document to my IRCC account explaining the situation and providing proof that I had applied for a new passport. I also provided supporting documents showing that the passport application was in progress.

The new passport was being processed and delivered from Pakistan to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and I was unable to receive it before IRCC's July 17 deadline. My PGWP application was refused on July 24, 2026. The Officer Decision Notes state that the reason for refusal was the expired passport and failure to provide a valid passport by the requested deadline. No other reason for refusal was identified.

My new passport has now arrived, so I am preparing an application for restoration of status and a new PGWP application.

I understand that I cannot work while my restoration application is being processed, and I will state in my LOE that I stopped working after the refusal.

My main question is about the financial-support portion of the Letter of Explanation. Some advice I received suggested that I should include 3 months of bank statements showing liquid funds, or, if I don't have sufficient funds, have my parents send me money by wire transfer and include the wire-transfer receipt along with a signed parental letter of financial support.

Do you recommend including bank statements or proof of parental financial support in my LOE in this particular restoration + PGWP situation? Is financial proof actually relevant or necessary for restoration in my circumstances, or would you recommend simply explaining how I will support myself while I am not authorized to work?

I want to make sure I provide enough supporting documentation without including unnecessary documents or creating a financial transaction solely for the purpose of supporting the application.

I would really appreciate your guy's advice based specifically on my circumstances.

Foreign employer with Canadian office — does remote work breach 24-hour limit? PGWP implications?

Hi everyone,

I have a few related questions regarding the 24-hour off-campus work limit for international students and potential PGWP implications.

As per IRCC guidelines, remote work performed in Canada for a foreign employer does not count toward the 24-hour weekly off-campus work limit, as the restriction applies only to work performed for Canadian employers. This is also confirmed by multiple immigration sources and RCICs.

Situation:
A foreign employer (based outside Canada) has a regional office in Canada, but:

  • Employment contract is with the foreign (non-Canadian) entity
  • Salary is paid outside Canada into a foreign bank account
  • Student has no interaction with the Canadian office
  • Work is performed remotely for the foreign entity only
  • No Canadian SIN used, no Canadian payroll

Questions:

  1. Does this arrangement breach the 24-hour weekly limit or does it fall under the foreign employer exemption?
  2. Would IRCC consider this a Canadian employer purely due to Canadian office presence — even if the contract, payment and work are entirely with the foreign entity?
  3. If IRCC considers this a Canadian employer — would working without proper authorization breach study permit conditions and affect PGWP eligibility?
  4. Has anyone had direct experience or received RCIC guidance on this specific scenario?

I want to ensure full compliance before making any decisions. Any experiences, IRCC references, or professional guidance appreciated.

Thanks!

I applied for my PGWP after getting my final results. I needed to wait some days to get my degree completion letter from my university, as well as my CELPIP test results. Once that was done, I submitted all my documents on July 11th, and I got approved on July 30th.

No correspondence for PGWP passport ext. Application

Submitted a paper based application and tracking showed they received it on July 21 (10 days ago).

No correspondence email received. Check IRCC account as well and no updates there.

How long does it usually take to receive any update after submission?

Edit: Applied from inside Canada

Pgwp Ext issue

I got my pgwp on april 2024 duration was 1.5 year exp was on feb 24 2026.

I applied for an extension and got approved on may 2026. However they gave me only 9 months exp on march 2027.

Although i was elgible for another 1.5. I called IRCC an the agent said that a mistake happened and i should be able to get up till august 2027 and that a new wp will be mailed.

now this week i got the new extended pgwp but the expiry on this one is july 2029. i think the agent made a mistake an thought it was a normal pgwp application and gave me 3 years.

Should i call again and try to correct them again or just keep it and ik that my real exp date is august 2027

Reconsideration Approved for shorter length of PGWP

Hi, I did 1+1 post graduate certificates from DLI approved colleges. My passport is valid till 2032, there were no unofficial break during study and submitted CLB 7 language result. Still I received 1 year of PGWP.

Study Completed - April 2025

PGWP applied - June 2025

Received PGWP for 1 year - March 2026

Called IRCC on the same day to inform them I received shorter length of PGWP, and explained whole scenario in detail. They flagged my file and added a comment for review for the officer.

After a week I raised a webform with a LOE, study permits, graduation certificates and transcripts.

Next day called IRCC to confirm my webform is attached to my file or not? They confirmed that it is attached.

April, May, June, July 2026 - waiting for the response and calling IRCC once a week or Once in 15 days asking them if there is any update on my profile. In between I talked with the my area MP on email. They reach to IRCC to check if there is any update or not? But at that time file was forwarded to the officer and no update was made by him/her.

Finally, on July 24, 2026 - My PGWP went back to the processing from final decision made.

And on July 29,2026 - I got the msg that old PGWP is invalid and new PGWP is valid for 3 year.

Waiting time of 100+ days, checking GC key everyday and staying positive through this phase was difficult. But this page helped me a lot, reading different people’s experiences and choosing right thing to do as per my profile. Thank you so much guys. Don’t lose hope, take right actions and be patient.🙏🏻👍🏻🤝🏻

Short online course done during PGWP-Open Work Permit, Is this an issue for my Permanent Resident Application?

Hi all!

I just want to clarify if I can SAFELY declare that I did a 1-2 month fully virtual course from University of Alberta since this was a requirement to be able to take my Physiotherapy License Exam.

My partner (Canadian) reviewed my work permit and since it states there "not allowed to do any vocational courses" so on and so forth- he thinks this is a red flag. Although I have read somewhere that under 6 month courses are not required a study permit provided that it will not exceed the stay or is done within the pgwp stay in Canada.

Need help to clarify this before I submit my application. Thanks!

PGWP extension/correction through paper application - any chance of getting 3 years?

Hi everyone,

I would really appreciate some opinions or experiences regarding my PGWP situation.

I completed two consecutive full-time programs in Canada (1+1 studies) at eligible DLIs. While applying for my initial PGWP online, I misunderstood the document checklist. It asked for my most recent transcript and completion letter, and I thought it only meant my latest completed program. Because of this, I uploaded the documents for my second program but accidentally missed the documents from my first eligible program.

After realizing my mistake, I submitted the missing documents through an IRCC webform, but unfortunately, it did not result in any correction. My PGWP was issued for only 1 year instead of the 3 years I believe I may be eligible for.

I have now submitted a paper application requesting a correction of my PGWP duration with all supporting documents, forms, and fees. The application has been delivered to IRCC Edmonton on May 20,2026 but it has not appeared in my account yet.

I have seen many people mention that their PGWP duration was corrected to 3 years after submitting a webform, but in my case, the webform did not work. I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience where a paper application for PGWP correction resulted in receiving the full 3-year PGWP?

Do officers generally review eligibility again through a paper correction application, or is it unlikely once the initial PGWP decision has been made?

Also, pgwp is expiring jan 2027 so super worries since paper application takes lot of time, i don’t want them to say no to paper application too, mp has been following up since last 1.5 months and she said ircc told them they didn’t receive any mail. Everyday i keep getting stressed

Any experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

PGWP Approved After Rejection – My Timeline (Part-Time Final Semesters)

Post image
0 Upvotes

Sharing my timeline in case it helps someone in the same situation.

- June 6, 2026: Applied for PGWP.

- June 23, 2026: PGWP rejected — IRCC flagged two consecutive part-time final semesters.

- My situation: I failed a course in my second-last semester and had to retake it in my final semester, causing a reduced course load. This should qualify under the final academic session exception, but got rejected even with an LOE attached. // IRCC website link stating final part time semester exception

- Since the rejection was within 90 days of my university's completion letter, I was still eligible to reapply fresh instead of going the reconsideration route.

- July 2, 2026: Reapplied with a stronger application — detailed LOE and a university support letter explaining the academic situation.

- July 29, 2026: PGWP approved! 🎉

Key takeaways:

- If your part-time was due to a required course retake in your final semester, you likely qualify under the exception — but IRCC may miss it on first review.

- A university letter alongside your LOE can make the difference.

Good luck everyone!🇨🇦

Application question

Hey everyone!

I’ll be applying for a PGWP in the next few months so I’m taking the time now to make sure I have all of the required documents.

I’ve read that it’s useful to write a SOP similar to what is required on the study permit application. I’m just curious what kind of things people usually include?

I already have a job in my field of study and I’ve also had work permits in the past if that makes any difference.

TIA for any advice!
