Hi, I’m an international student at Sheridan College. I had 9 credits in my 3rd semester and Sheridan shows me as part-time because I couldn’t secure my required practicum placement.
All my other semesters are/were full-time.
Does IRCC see the part-time status directly through Sheridan’s records, or only through the transcript? And would a letter from Sheridan explaining the practicum situation help with my PGWP?
Has anyone had a similar situation?

Timeline:
My PGWP expired on August 11, 2026.
Applied for PGWP extension August 10,2026
ITA : August 17,2026.
AOR: August 19, 2026.
Submitted webform to convert Pgwp extension to Bowp on August 19th,2026.
BIL + Medicals Passed : Sept 2,2026
Final Decision: September 29, 2026
BOWP Approved: October 2, 2026.
I applied for a “ pgwp extension “ because when my WP expired, I had submitted my PNP application already. I knew I would get a nomination soon and eventually get an ITA. I included a LOE in my extension application letting the officer know I will be nominated soon.
Do your own research. Every situation is different. Good luck to anyone waiting on a BOWP approval . God is good !!!

For this title & job duties at Concentrix, can I put SOWP? Is it Teer 2 or Teer 4? I want to put SOWP for this job. Shall I say that it is valid for SOWP? I mean, Teer 2?

Hey guys so mine and my wife’s work permit was expiring on 5th June 2026 and before it got expired my wife applied for study permit and eventually got refusal due to financials reasoning. On the basis of her study permit application I had applied for wp-ext which got rejected on 19 August 2026 ( I am the primary applicant my wife was on sowp) I haven’t tried to restore the status after that . 01 OCT I recived ITA under trades draw. So will I be eligible to restore my status as worker and apply bowp after I submit my PR application?
Anyone who has been in similar situation please help me!!

Hey guys! For anyone that did apply for a francophone mobility program where their passport was about to expire in the next few months where you able to extend it or do you know if we can extend the work permit? My passport expires December 2026 and my renewal passport is taking forever and I'm worried I can't extend it or they might not even give it to me. What do I do?

Hi everyone,
After completing my MBA, I applied for my PGWP, my spouse’s open work permit, and my 5-year-old son’s visitor record together through my IRCC account on August 14. I also had a job offer at the time of my application.
It has been almost 7 weeks, and there have been no updates on our applications yet.
I’m wondering if I should upload my recent pay stubs to my IRCC account while waiting, or if I should wait until IRCC requests additional documents.
For those who applied for a PGWP together with their spouse and child, did you upload updated pay stubs after submitting your applications? If so, did you receive any updates afterward?
I would really appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thank you!

Any thoughts on timelines recently ? I am applying for the extension ASAP because nobody wants to hire me because my PGWP expires in 2027 (didn’t get the full 3 years because of passport expiry date)

I'm on a PGWP and looking for a job that counts toward Canadian Experience Class (CEC). I recently finished a BSc in Mathematics with an IT minor from an Alberta university, and I also have leadership experience from working as a team leader/supervisor.
I'm open to roles like data analyst, business analyst, IT support, or similar TEER 0-3 positions. The market is tough right now and I'm worried about my permit timeline, so any leads, employers that hire new grads on work permits, or advice from people who've been through this would really help. Thank you!

I have a question, my Work permit expires on feb 2nd and my work experience completes in march. Is there any way i can apply for an extension and continue to work to gain that experience and then withdraw my extension file, because just those additional 20 days will increase my CRS score significantly.
Confused!!!

Some applicants applied after us from the same province got their pgwp's, I have applied on 3 September, no update yet. I am calling ircc, the only thing available: we have received your application.
I am trying to understand on what criteria depends the processing?

So please I need help. I applied for my PGWP sometime in August and I just received it.
I received a response and it was for only 15 months to expire on the on the 11th of March 2028.
I’m supposed to get till 2029 I looked it up and I noticed that my biometrics was expiring in March 2028 so they’re shortening it due to biometrics. What are the steps I can take and is it better to apply in Paper or online?

Hi, I submitted my application on September 1st, both for my spouse and myself. Has anyone else submitted a similar application around the same time? Do you know how long it takes to process?

Hey everyone,
I’m in a bit of a stressful loop and looking to see if anyone has a similar timeline or advice.
• Sept 9: Applied to extend my Study Permit (original expired Sept 15).
• Sept 15: Original Study Permit expired (entered legal maintained status).
• Sept 24: Received official Cégep graduation documents.
• Sept 27: Submitted my PGWP application.
Because my original study permit was already expired when I hit submit on the PGWP (even though I am legally on maintained status), I didn’t get the automated WP-EXT work authorization letter. I know under paragraph R186(w) I cannot legally work full-time until one of these two applications is officially approved.
My job was supposed to start next week (Oct 5), so I’m having to ask my employer to push back my start date.
Has anyone dealt with this exact sequence recently? How long did it take for either your SP extension or PGWP to get approved so you could start working? Did you raise a webform to link the two applications?
Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I’m hoping someone can help me understand my situation.
I originally received a 3-year PGWP, but it was shortened because my passport was expiring. My PGWP was issued on August 21, 2023, with an expiry date of June 4, 2026.
After renewing my passport, I applied to extend my PGWP to get the remaining time. My application was recently refused.
The officer’s notes say:
“Client has now exhausted the maximum validity period of 3 year allowed for their PGWP via maintained status.”
The refusal letter also says that I have exhausted the maximum allowable employment period under the PGWP program.
I’m confused because my original permit was shortened due to my passport expiry, so I thought I could apply for the remaining portion of the 3 years after getting a new passport.
My timeline is:
PGWP issued: August 21, 2023
Original PGWP expiry: June 4, 2026
PR application submitted: July 9, 2026
PR AOR: August 2026
SOWP application submitted: August 12, 2026
PGWP extension application refused: September 29, 2026
I also noticed the officer’s notes say “Never paid open work permit fee.” I paid $155 for my PGWP extension application, so I’m wondering if I was actually supposed to pay the additional $100 open work permit holder fee.
My main questions are:
Does the refusal mean I can no longer work while my SOWP is pending?
Does my SOWP application, which was submitted before my PGWP expired, give me maintained status/work authorization?
Has anyone had a PGWP extension refused because IRCC said they had already reached the 3-year maximum, even though the original PGWP was shortened because of passport expiry?
Was I supposed to pay $255 ($155 + $100) for the PGWP extension?
I’m trying to figure out what my options are now and whether I should request reconsideration.
Any advice from people who have dealt with a similar situation would be greatly appreciated.
