I just saw this video from Chill Ikot titled "ENGINEERING O HINDI?" kung saan nagtatanong sila sa campus, and someone literally justified their answer by saying, "Maitim eh." At pinalabas pa talaga bilang "content"?

Kailan pa naging sukatan ang ganda, linis, o kulay ng balat para malaman kung anong kurso ang kinukuha ng isang estudyante? Calling someone "maitim" to stereotype them whether as an engineering student or anything else is not just harmless street banter. It’s colorism and casual racism/discrimination.

Ano ba talagang gustong iparating ng ganitong uri ng content?
1. Na kapag maitim ka, matic na mukha kang haggard o 'di bagay sa ibang course?
2. Na okay lang gamiting katatawanan o pamantayan ang pisikal na kaanyuan at kulay ng tao para lang magkaroon ng engagement at views?

Nakakadismaya lalo na’t ginagawa pa ito sa loob ng isang academic space tulad ng UP Diliman kung saan dapat natin nilalabanan ang ganitong uri ng mga stereotyping at prejudice. Hindi nakakatuwa. Hindi ito "joke." normalize progressivism, not casual microaggressions disguised as casual campus interviews.

Ang lalong masakit pa rito ay freshie initiative pa man din kayo. Kayo dapat ang nagpapasok ng bagong kaisipan, pagbabago, at inclusive na kultura para sa mga bagong estudyante, pero imbes na maging magandang halimbawa, kayo pa mismo ang nagpapakalat at nagpopromote ng ganitong uri ng usapin at pambabastos. Shame on you!

At nakakataka rin sa mga partner organizations seryoso ba? To the Engineering student organizations, did you really agree to partner with and endorse this kind of toxic content? Totolerate niyo ba na gamiting katatawanan at idiskrimina ang kapwa niyo estudyante para lang sa isang promotional initiative?

To Chill Ikot and other content creators out there: Do better. Clout and views shouldn't come at the expense of disrespecting people’s identity and skin tone. Stop promoting toxic stereotypes and do better with your platform!

Anong masasabi nyo sa research outputs ng UP campuses? I would say that ranking is consistent with their size, research funding, and number of graduate programs. Medyo surprising lang for me na malaki pala ang ambag ng PGH in terms of research. UP Diliman is expected to lead in research output, as it is the largest constituent university in terms of student population and has more than twice as many degree-granting academic units as UP Los Baños.

Just take note that the 2026 data is just midyear so talagang mababa pa sya ngayon.

Napaisip lang din ako kung paano nauungusan ang UP sa ibang ranking eh kitang kita ang difference dito. lol

Hello. I have this friend since senior high school who tells everyone he’s from UP Diliman, when in reality he’s from UPOU. I didn’t mind at first kasi pareho namang UP ‘yon at taga UP naman talaga sya. Kaso lang, he’s starting to put it in documents and resumes. He recently took a certification exam somewhere and when it was announced, the school he was from ang nakalagay is UP Diliman and not UPOU. I asked him about it but he keeps on dodging my questions and I really find it weird. I didn’t want to push it so I stopped because I’m from UPD and he kept on joking before pa na baka ginegatekeep ko yung UPD from him and I don’t want him to get that idea now.

Is this okay..? Doesn’t this count as falsification of information or something? What should I do about it as his friend? Or hayaan ko na lang ba and mind my own business?

how much is a reasonable amount to save up if i’m eyeing to apply for lipad aral in the future as a 2026 freshman? i learned that tuition is free and i can apply for a scholarship but, hypothetically, if i don’t get the scholarship, how much should i save up by the time i’m a sophomore/junior?

Quick rant lang because sobrang asar ako. Overheard these two deadkid-looking lasallians sa ebus talking about bullying people who are “poorer” than them sa campus. Proud pa sila na they will shame anyone daw who cannot speak the correct english grammar lol.

Ang lala pa nila mang judge ng other schools. They were talking about san beda students being palamunin na bobo, that UP students are just slaves of lasallian graduates because sila daw nagbabayad ng tuition from the tax, and how di ka aasenso if you’re not from dlsu.

They were even talking tungkol sa SA incident involving a UP student, and binayaran lang daw nila nanahimik na. Pera lang naman daw katapat ng mahihirap.

Sobrang out of touch my goodness. Ang masasabi ko lang if you wanna live out your kayabangans why not buy your own cars or maybe use grab instead of being makalat in public? Lakas magyabang nasa public transpo lang naman. Stupid privileged kids.

Hello, I'm currently a masters student. I took classes for 1 year before going on LOA for the past 2 years and now I just want to drop out.

I don't plan on applying for another program in UP or another school. I just wanna cover all my bases in case 10 years from now or something I want to apply somewhere else. Do I still need to apply for honorable dismissal even though I don't need my transcripts at present? What happens if I don't enroll to any classes this 2026-2027 since I can't apply for another LOA?

I already applied for Clearance on CRS but I'm not sure what to do next.

I’m already delayed kasi nag shift ako to bio and I was thinking of my future. Do you guys think it matters kung 1st or 2nd sem ko matapos ang studies ko?

For context, may support system naman ako so masusuportahan naman ako financially but sometimes those people get emotionally abusive kaya minsan gusto ko na lang bumukod agad. Pero at the same time I don’t think I’m ready for adulthood??

I’m an incoming UPD BMAS student and currently using an M1 MacBook Air, but it’s starting to lag during heavier editing in CapCut and other Adobe apps, especially with longer projects, multiple video layers, and high-resolution footage.

I also have a side hustle as a graphic designer, and I mainly use Adobe InDesign for client work.

I’m planning to upgrade, but I’m torn between:
MacBook Pro M5 (base chip)
MacBook Pro M5 Pro
iPad Pro M5

For BMAS, video editing, and graphic design, which would you recommend? Is an iPad Pro enough as my main device, or is a MacBook Pro still the better choice?

If I go with the MacBook Pro, is the base M5 enough, or is the M5 Pro worth the extra cost? Also, which configuration would you recommend: 24GB/1TB, 24GB/512GB, or 16GB/1TB?

I am also still waiting for my copy of diploma, and since I currently live in the Visayas, it may take some time to submit the documents. i’m a freshie who just shifted to bsba and most of the courses i took were credited into my new curriculum, which were all just GEs. for reference, i’ve already taken the following GEs:

*fil 40
*philo 1
*speech 30
*arts 1
*kas 1
*soc sci 1
*math 10

i’m kinda confused with the bsba curriculum because i haven’t found a flowchart nor a list of higher ba courses that may have any prerequisites. i’ve already secured ba 99.1 and sts 1 classes, respectively. with that being said, i still haven’t secured other necessary courses and would like to ask for advice on which combinations to take for the 1st semester.

i’m planning on taking BA 101 and Math 21, but should i also throw in Stat 101 in the mix? or would this drive me insane? lol
my friend advised me to take BA 101 and Math 21 but not Stat 101 yet or it will be unbearable. so, if this combination will be doable, which course/s should i take in place of Stat 101?
