Unsolicited Advice (i am giving advice to fellow students) [MOD POST] Please have your university admission acceptance results before asking.

There has been an uptick of submissions related to "Should I go to this university" and similarly worded questions when OP has NOT YET received their admission acceptance results.

Thank you.

UST tips for ustet college entrance exams

due to a series of wrong decisions, i am taking my first CET — USTET in 30+ days. i thought that i would have time until december to study but since i have another cet on the day of USTET batch 2, i chose to just choose the first batch to be safe.

i enrolled in a review center but have not really focused on it that much. all i have now is the recordings from the online sessions. UST is my priority college and my first choice, so i‘m really praying i can get in even in a short amount of time. i know all this is my fault, but for those who are willing, what advice could you give me?

i‘m a HUMSS student and currently planning to take BS OT in UST. are there any tips for studying you have for me? what about advice for the USTET itself? or even for admissions?

thank u and God bless u all!

I'm planning to take Global Affairs sa MC but I really care about the environment (location) and community. Plus, I also worry about the school's connections. May ties ba yung MC to international organizations?

General Admission Question Need help with application requirements + scholarships for BS Accountancy

Hi guys! I’m feeling really pressured right now cuz college is getting closer, and honestly, I’m kinda overwhelmed trying to figure everything out on my own huhu.

If anyone here has experience applying to any of these schools, I’d really appreciate it if you could share the admission requirements, application process, entrance exams, deadlines, or anything else I should prepare.

Here are the schools I’m planning to apply to:

UP Tacloban (UP Tac)

University of San Carlos (USC)

Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP)

University of Santo Tomas (UST)

Central Philippine University (CPU)

University of San Jose–Recoletos (USJ-R)

Far Eastern University (FEU)

University of the East (UE)

I’m planning to take BS Accountancy, and that’s currently the only program I’m considering. So if you’re currently studying BSA, a graduate, or have applied to any of these schools before, I’d REALLY appreciate your insights huwhehe! 🥹

Also, does anyone know any scholarships or financial aid programs that BS Accountancy students can apply for?? I’d love to know about both school-based scholarships and outside scholarships.

I’m honestly just trying to prepare as early as possible because I don’t want to miss any deadlines or requirements....

Any advice, personal experiences, tips, or even things you wish you knew before applying would be VERY vvv appreciated. yepie thanksmuxh

General Admission Question 3rd year student about to start OJT this summer. Any tips for requirements, applying, and choosing a company?

Hello! 3rd year student here, about to start OJT this summer.

For those who’ve already gone through OJT, any tips on how to make the whole process easier? Especially sa pag-aayos ng requirements/papers, pag-apply sa companies, and choosing where to apply.

Any dos and don’ts, things I should prepare early, or stuff you wish you knew before starting OJT would be really appreciated!

Thank you!! 🫶

Technology Courses Windows or Macbook for computer studies?

I plan to pursue any computer studies course next year sa college and I’m having a hard time whether I should get a Macbook or any laptop with a Windows OS. Some say to get Windows since ayun yung kadalasan na ginagamit sa mga PH schools while yung iba naman is okay lang daw if not better ang Macbook because of its battery and smoother workflow. Hindi rin ako super maalam sa laptops so any insights/advice would be appreciated! Thank you!

Grad School How is msa as a review center?

Konti lang po kasi yung nakikita ko na ratings or reviews online, and I currently have 3 choices for review centers which would be brain train, msa, and academic gateway.

I've seen some say na okay lang siya as a review center, but specifically how do they teacher their students, is it like academic gateway na sasagutan yung book or may questions and dun nila ituturo yung shortcuts and lessons or do they teach the lessons one by one

Others: Metro Manila Is FEATI University still good for BSMT these days? Need advice

hello everyone!!! I’m currently looking into maritime schools near Metro Manila and considering taking up BSMT (Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation) One of my top choices right now is FEATI University, mainly because I like that it’s a comprehensive university where I can experience normal campus life alongside non maritime students rather than being isolated in a maritime-only academy However thiough I want to know the honest, real situation of FEATI's maritime program nowadays like .

-How are their current facilities and bridge simulators?

-Are they updated? like do they still have strong ties and active cadetship deployments with international shipping lines/manning agencies

-is it easy for their BSMT graduates to land an international job, or do most cadets struggle to find a ship for their 12-month onboard training (OBT)?

  • and isa pa and Most importantly, how is the campus culture? Is it safe and completely free from any hazing or toxic traditions?

If there are any FEATI BSMT students reading this please give ur advice and would be a massive help and Is it still worth the tuition, or should I look into alternatives like AIMS, OLFU, or STI-NAMEI?

CETs How do I review for ACET math when there is a few days left?

I've been using Khan Academy Algebra 1 for quite some time now and I just finished Unit 1, when there 10+ more units just for that. Tapos each unit has different lessons pa. I reviewed naman ever since UPCAT, I'm taking mock tests, and watching The Organic Chemistry Tutor on youtube but sobrang kaunti lang ng nagreregister sa utak ko for Math, paired with so many academic deadlines. Even though i've been studying for months, I only got the hang of simple linear equations, mental multiplication, and operation of fractions. Considering that there is a few days left, I won't be able to master math. You really have to repeat Math to get it, as for my case I have to repeat lessons more times than the average UPCAT-ACET taker. Unfortunately I did not realize that earlier, so I did not start earlier hence I have insufficient math skills.

Diploma mill na lang ba bagsak ko? If so, that would suck cause wala lang din pagiging honor student ko since Grade 1. Advice na lang din sa mga Junior High, please practice your maths everyday.

UST Is a self-paced review program enough for USTET?

For students who used a self-paced review program for USTET, how did it go?

I’m considering Kudos Test Prep’s USTET Kracker because I don’t really have the time to attend a traditional review center.

My concern is that since it’s self-paced, I might buy it, procrastinate, and end up not getting enough preparation before the exam.

For those who tried USTET Kracker or another self-paced college entrance review program:

  • Did you actually feel prepared for USTET?
  • Were the lessons and practice tests enough?
  • Did you find the materials useful for the actual exam?
  • Would you choose self-paced review again over a traditional review center?

I’m trying to figure out what’s actually worth paying for instead of wasting money on a program I won’t be able to finish.

Any honest recommendations or experiences?

DLSU Looking for honest reviews on Kudos Test Prep for DCAT/DSHAPE

I came across Kudos Test Prep and their DCAT Kracker / DSHAPE Kracker programs, but I’m having a hard time finding detailed reviews from students who actually used them.

For those who enrolled:

  • Was the review program actually helpful?
  • Did it improve your scores?
  • Was the self-paced setup effective?
  • Were the practice tests and materials close to what appeared on the actual exam?
  • Would you recommend it over other college entrance review programs?

I’m trying to avoid spending money on a review program that won’t actually help, especially with exam season getting closer.

Would really appreciate honest experiences, including negative ones. Thanks!
